Welcome So we may have missed Carlos de Bastegui’s 1951 Masquerade party of the century, but fear not, Nottingham is set to throw one of the biggest Graduation Masquerade Balls just for you. . As the largest black tie event in the university’s calendar, we return to Colwick Hall, Nottingham’s finest country house mansion, to celebrate a special milestone and say your final goodbyes to your fellow Masquerades.. This event is a time for you to celebrate, reminisce and say your final goodbyes.. We hope that you all have a fantastic evening and wish you the very best for the future.. One last party, One special venue, One night to remember…
Venue Colwick Hall Hotel is a magnificent Palladian style Georgian country house mansion nestling in over sixty acres of parkland. An historic building dating back to Saxon times and once the ancestral home of Lord Byron, Colwick Hall is a grade II* listed manor with a grand entrance overlooking Nottingham Racecourse and offering exquisite facilities. From the award winning Georgetown Restaurant, the 1776 Grand Ballroom, several function rooms, the Lakeside Pavilion overlooking the lake and the Grand Marquee, the venue and setting together with its style is unbeatable! On the night we will occupy the Hall and the grounds in its entirety! With the Lakeside Pavilion and Grand Marquee housing the main entertainments, four function rooms with themed bars and attractions, deck and extensive gardens, you can party away the night in style. Colwick Hall is the perfect setting for a once in a lifetime ball.

Entertainment Kissy Sell Out. Kissy Sell Out quickly gained notability in 2006 for his eccentric electro productions and energetic DJ style. Kissy began his Radio One career with a monthly specialist dance show, ‘In new DJ’s we trust’. He now hosts his own show bringing us two hours of jump up rock and rave every week.
Take That Reunited Britain’s Got Talent semi finalists, Take That Reunited, are here to play you some of the band’s classics! With over 10 years experience in the game, this Take That supergroup, is a worthy tribute to the lads! Let them ‘Relight your fire’ and lets ‘Pray’ for a memorable night! (ok, ok, cheesy we know!)
Real Nice DJ’s Recent resident DJ’s on the recent Jack Will’s university tour, Real Nice have gigged all over the world including New York, Austria and France. Last year they played at Glastonbury and are currently residents at BLOWPOP, one of Bristol’s biggest and longest running electronic music nights. Renowned for wreaking havoc on dancefloors wherever they go, the Real Nice duo is characterised by an upbeat musical style which does not take itself too seriously and is genuinely fun to throw some shapes to.
Tom Wardle
Tom Wardle is one of the most unmistakeable performers on the live scene today, possessing a voice that seems to defy his size and a style that references pop’s golden years of sharp suits and smash hits. Tom’s brand of classic pop has served him well, seeing him play just over two hundred gigs a year for the past three years; from residencies at Nottingham’s Pandora’s Box to regular gigs at London’s Kensington Roof Gardens and Mahiki, as well as events for Vogue Magazine and the Royal Air Force. . Tom is currently recording the follow up to his “Another Late Night” EP, set for release in August 2011. www.tomwardle.co.uk
Gareth Jones
Gareth is a final year psychology student, meaning that often when DJing, he will read the crowd’s minds. He specialises in house music and has been DJing at the rag raid afterparties this year; his Essex roots make him ideal for coping with rowdy freshers’ music requests. He has played at Gatecrasher and has been doing a house music show for the last two years on URN. House music has never been the same since Gareth arrived on the scene.
Simon Tarr
Simon has been DJing and producing music for 10 years. From rural Norfolk, Simon has overcome the difficulties that webbed fingers present and is a very successful DJ. He has played in Es Paradis, Ibiza, Penthouse and Gatecrasher. In the last few years he has had releases on various labels with support from across the world. Usually a trance and progressive DJ, Simon hopes that tonight his classic party tunes and cheese will secure his future and make his the name on everyone’s lips this summer.
Nidal al Juzi
Born and raised on the mean streets of Ealing, Nidal started his musical journey when he was seven, when he was given a musical instrument by his Uncle. It was then that Nidal knew he wanted to be part of ‘The Scene’. At the age of 17, he was already being touted as Ealing’s answer to Grooverider. He did various warm up sets in clubs, hosting names such as Fabio and Pat Sharp. In 2006, he got his big break when he started getting gigs at big events such as Societies Ball and Freshers’ Week. The Drum and Bass scene should be expecting big things from Nidal in 2011.
Andy Hoe
We all love Andy Hoe and know him best as Ocean’s resident DJ. Andy has played at Grad Ball for the past three years and can’t wait to get back there in 2011, and neither can we! Expect to dance your socks off and reminisce with Andy’s cheesy playlist.
The Ben Martin Jazz Quartet. The Ben Martin Quartet have made a name for themselves as Nottingham’s leading professional jazz band. Featuring Ben Martin (sax), John Tullis (piano), Martyn Spencer (double bass) and Jon Richmond (drums), the Ben Martin Quartet have appeared at numerous high profile events in and around Nottingham over the last five years. . www.nottinghamjazz.co.uk Pimms Bar
Nothing beats a glass of pimms on a summer’s day! You can find the Pimms Bar in the John Carr Suite, Colwick Hall and at stands throughout the grounds.
Casino
If you need a break from the excitement of the main marquee why not cool down and try your luck in our fun Casino in the Grand Ballroom. Black Jack, roulette and much more…
Fireworks
To start this year’s celebrations with a bang, expect to see a spectacular display above Colwick Hall.
Photographer
Capture your memories of this year’s event and visit one of the photographer’s studios on the back lawns of Colwick Hall. You have the option to purchase prints on the night or you can view and buy photographs online after the event at www.takethatphoto.co.uk
Walk-about entertainment
This year’s entertainment line up never stops, with much happening outside of the Marquees and Hall. We have booked some fantastic walk-about acts, so expect to be amazed by our magicians and multi-skilled performers!
