Dear Supporters, YOU ARE NOT ALONE When was the last time you questioned your faith in God? Have you ever doubted God or His character? Have you ever doubted that you are even saved, even though you’ve made a commitment to Christ? I know that for me, this has happened more often than I would like to admit. Even though I know God’s truth, the distractions of this world can make me question God’s real love for me. Does this ever happen to you? If so, you are not alone, and this is why I make it a point to immerse myself daily in the Bible to remind me I am His child. “I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand. I and the Father are one.” John 10:28-30 Sometimes it seems like there is very little progress in my Christian walk, almost as if I am going backwards. But the Bible says: “being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus:” Philippians 1:6 I can rest knowing that God never stops the work He has already begun, slow as it may be. Even though in my weaknesses I can doubt God, God’s written words are my assurance and my hope. By reading God’s Word and meditating on it, I get to hear His small voice. “Keep my commands and you will live; guard my teachings as the apple of your eye. Bind them on your fingers; write them on the tablet of your heart. Proverbs 7:2-3 As you read God’s scriptures, don’t just “intellectually” read them quickly and miss the message, but stay with them and let it soak into your mind and heart continually. UNBELIEF Probably one of the greatest sins of man is his unbelief in God’s character and His promises. Ironically, unbelief is a tool that Satan uses to distract believers from God and rob us from our joy in the Lord. Thoughts of unbelief can blind us from the fact that God is good and loves His people no matter what. “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. John 10:10 Satan is the thief that steals our joy and his lies contribute to our unbelief. We know about the grave side effects of unbelief when Jesus walked this earth, and unfortunately it’s still a problem today. “Even after Jesus had done all these miraculous signs in their presence, they still would not believe in him. John 12:37 The irony is that the enemies of Jesus and His disciples both doubted Him. His followers questioned their very own faith in Him, over and over again. “Immediately the boy’s father exclaimed, “I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!” Mark 9:24 If you are questioning your faith in Jesus right now, ask God to help you with your unbelief and He will do it. As you can see from this biblical example, believers questioned their faith and then simply asked Jesus to help them. Will you ask God to help you completely trust and believe in Jesus Christ right now, no matter what? As Jesus said, “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.” Matthew 7:7 WE ALL DOUBT Again, I must admit that I too go through periods of great doubt. Have you ever heard the term, “Doubting Thomas”? Thomas was one of the apostles that walked and ate with Jesus, but Thomas questioned and doubted everything. Check out the following verses, and you will notice that you may not be alone in your unbelief, and more so, that God truly loves you in spite of your unbelief!!! Notice how the apostle Thomas questioned the resurrection of Jesus. “So the other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord!” But he said to them, “Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe it.” John 20:25 And now look at what Jesus said to Thomas after He appeared to him. “Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe.” John 20:27 Now pay attention to what Jesus says to all of us “Then Jesus told him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.” John 20:29 Be one of those believers who has not seen Jesus, but believes in Him! Taking this a step further, guess what a believer’s job is? “Jesus answered, “The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent.” John 6:29 Be encouraged knowing that God knows our weaknesses, yet He encourages us to confess our sins to Him and to always approach His throne of grace quickly. “Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.” Hebrews 4:16 Will you do both right now? Will you confess your doubts to God, turn away from your sins and repent in all humility? God loves you! YOU ARE NOT CONDEMNED I can’t tell you how often I have felt like I’m the biggest hypocrite alive. I know what is right, but all too often I do what is wrong. Because of my sinful nature and the sins in my mind, I’m easily distracted away from God’s truth. Have you ever found yourself like the apostle Paul, “I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out.” “Who will rescue me from this body of death? Romans 7:18, 24 But there is hope, and it is through our faith in Jesus: “Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death. ...Those who live according to the sinful nature have their minds set on what that nature desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires.” Romans 8:1-5 I praise God that by my faith in His Son Jesus, and His Holy Spirit living in me, I may feel convicted at times, but I know I am never condemned. You see, in my flesh I am a HUGE sinner, but God sees me as Holy and blameless, because of Jesus. “For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight.” Ephesians 1:4 It does not matter what questions you may have about God, the fact is that if you believe in Jesus, you’re righteous by your faith alone. Why? Because Jesus paid the price on the cross for the sins of those who believe in Him. Talk about amazing grace! It can be a little surreal to believe these blessed truths, but by God’s grace we can believe! HOW MUCH FAITH IS ENOUGH? Because the power of God is so HUGE, and because the sacrifice of Jesus is so HUGE, we can rest assured that God can take the little faith we have, and multiply the power of our little faith one thousand times. Why? Because it is to God’s glory that we are saved just by believing in His son Jesus. “He replied, “Because you have so little faith. I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” Matthew 17:20 Believe in Jesus and everything that He taught, instead of believing the lies of Satan that rob your mind of joy. If believing in Jesus means being labeled as “foolish” because you believe in heavenly things you cannot see, then be a fool for Jesus. Believe in the impossible, and you will see the impossible. When we belong to Jesus, sinful as we are, He actually values and treasures us as His greatest possession, and He will keep us. “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.” Hebrews 13:5 WE KNOW THAT WE ARE HIS, WHEN WE OBEY HIM AND LOVE OTHERS When we receive God’s Word into our hearts and we obey, we show that we are God’s children. The world screams at us to obey our feelings, and to do the things that temporarily feel good to our flesh, but Christ teaches us the opposite. Have you noticed how the pleasures of sin never last, and then how the aftermath of sin can sometimes last forever? Strive to obey God’s commands with your focus on eternity, and then you will know that you are His. “Those who obey his commands live in him, and he in them. And this is how we know that he lives in us...” 1 John 3:24 With this said, do not lose heart when you realize that you are far from perfect, God already knows this and still loves you. “And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him.” 1 John 4:16 So in closing, believe in Him, Obey Him, and Love Him by Loving others :-)
