The Physical expression respects and caters to the needs of guests, providing an intimate retreat away from the outside world and consequently releases the stressawaybyevokingallhumansenses.

• Echoing Feng shui earth tones is a great way to capture a sense of grounding ¹ , earth tones provide comfort and refuge from the harshness of this world, and a sense of home.

• The elements are five interrelated phases in life that work together to create a complete system.

• Warm colors such as browns, tans, creams/ivory, and other soft neutrals, are enveloping and friendly and have an immediate impact on the sense of relaxation, calming, grounding and cocooning luxury.

MATERIALS:

• Rough textures are inviting and earthy. The textures imbibe a lot from already existing, natural textures around us.

• Rough or uneven ground generate a positive ground-feel and therapeutic tactility.

• Sustainability is not only about going green and saving the Planet. It's focusing on overall good. In order for the hotel to be sustainable, the strategy needs to be inclusive. ( environmentally, to the locals and embrace heritage and local values).

The 4 focus areas to ensure that hotels’ sustainability efforts drive impactful environmental outcomes. They are:

• Water Conservation (e.g. implementing smart water meters, reverse osmosis water recycling for laundry facility, water efficient toilet in guest rooms).

• Waste Management, Recycling and Circular Economy (e.g. artificial-intelligence (AI) powered food waste management solutions, food digestors).

• Sustainable Sourcing and Procurement (e.g. in-house farms, locally-sourced produce, assessing vendors based on certification/sustainable practices).

• Energy Conservation (e.g. district cooling systems, solar panel technology, smart energy meters, trigeneration plants).

• Achieving Guest Thermal Comfort ( e.g. using high thermal mass, improve built envelope, promote outdoor use, shaded fenestration, night cooling, optimum room allocation, comfortable outdoors)

The design principles followed are a combination of solar shading and night ventilation coupled with a building envelope with high thermal mass. Further cooling is proposed by PDEC (Physical Downdraught Evaporative Cooling) by incorporating shower towers and solar chimneys. Additionally, mixed-mode rooms with optional use of air conditioners are optimally allocated based on occupancy data to keep the energy consumption of the hotel at its minimum.
