He has been designing typefaces for eight years and is known for releasing free fonts inspired by jeepney signages such as Quiapo Free, Cubao Free, and Dangwa Free. He also innovated typing in Baybayin with Matatas One, a Baybayin typeface that is easy-to-type with the help of ligature technique.

Before becoming a full-time graphic artist, he used to teach English Literature to high school students. It was only in mid 2019 when he started to follow his artistic heart and made his way into the world of concept art by becoming an illustrator. He is very much into drawing myths, legends, folklore, magic, spirits, and fictional characters. Most of his illustrations are inspired by games, fantasy films, books, Philippine mythology, and sometimes visuals from his meditations and dreams.

Magwayen, the Visayan goddess of the sea and the underworld, ferries a fallen Tikbalang chieftain to Sulad or afterlife.

As a visual artist, he uses upcycled materials treated in order to be used as building blocks towards his heavily textured works. Ian’s style and technique is a mergence of Western and Asian

techniques that inspired him since he was little. On the other hand, as a performer, he combines emotions and movements to portray a certain scenario which creates textures and depths through conceptual performances. Looking for his own art style, he embraced his dissimilar outlook on what art is; “art is a continuous progress and longing of what else there is to learn, it should not be conformed or limited to what’s only comfortable.” Self-taught, Joshua

started to draw as a little kid, drawing women in dresses and mermaids around the walls and on random textbooks. I recently discovered my art style thanks to quarantine (the only thing I’m thankful for during the past few months). Quitting my job as a designer during quarantine last year helped me explore more about my art style. I paint this character named Nikki. He/ she embodies my

daily struggle in life and also some of my quirks that I haven’t shown to people, he/she is weird and extremely childish opposite to how I present myself to the world. Through my art I can somehow feel the freedom that I always dreamt of for my community, freedom from judgement, discrimination and to some sort of negativity that a member of LGBTQ+ community faces today.

A graduate of the Batangas Province High School for Culture and Arts (BPHSCA), she mainly focuses on painting but also works with various media such as illustration and sculpture. Often integrates texture in every piece, she mostly incorporates domestic flora and fauna together with translated human

physique to establish the statement within the artwork. Mixing realistic and linear images to portray social issues, she frequently adds the image of a fish in her works mainly the ones sold at the market for human consumption and isdang bunutan or fishes sold during fiestas in barangays in the country. These fishes bear a fatal meaning to her works. Ranging from distorted images of existing organisms and tangible objects balanced with the contrast of her choice of hues.

Combining his love for streetwear, street culture, architecture, and art, he creates pieces that translates his own style. His common subjects for his art are: shoes, streetwear, street food, and urban architecture. Taboy uses traditional but mostly digital media for his art. He is currently working on establishing a streetwear brand called Taboy Artwear. For Taboy, art is a lifestyle and is a means of self expression and escape from reality. He creates illustrations to further develop his skills and to someday make a name for himself as an artist.

UNARDENT E /unardent Q @unardent Unardent is Manila-based entity with a heart for collage, with which they create absurd realities that are bordering between the lines of mundane and try-hard occult. Their works, self-proclaimed “made in selfpreservation”, tackle feelings of vulnerability, acceptance, and growth (and may involve a bit too much Mitski). Unardent, above all else, is about being empathetic towards the self; their art is the function of the emotion: it is angry, it is grieving, and it is not enough, it is too much. Currently, they’re working towards expanding their art style into a new depth.

VA N J Q @vanjodegz Generalist for the most part, shutterbug during lucid intervals. While he may seem to stare the sense out of charts and reports, Vanjo often drifts out to a world where stories are better shown than told. He checks out markets and merchants by day, and drifts off with a camera for the rest of the time, well at least when he can. Savvy for souls and spaces, he tries to escape reality without changing the situation, adding a personal flavor to otherwise common sights. He goes to show that corporate should never kill the child within.

Moments like this seem very distant; quite alien from the circumstances to date.

Is it enough to have a roof overhead? I was walking home, past 2 AM, when I passed by this old woman—sound asleep on an old couch next to the window of what appeared to be hair salon. Though it wasn't exactly a comfortable set-up, she laid still in slumber, probably having gotten used to it. Her hands indicated otherwise; her fists clenched as if she was holding back a strong feeling or emotion. Could it be pain? Grief? Anger? It could well be any of those.

Coming back from the holidays means retreating to the usual window view, given the ongoing situation warranting confinement to our respective quarters. Nevertheless, these construction workers are hands down building up.
