Pioneers in a new market The achievements of Casinos ADMIRAL in Liechtenstein are of an almost historic dimension: Three years ago, the first casino in the Principality’s over 300-year history was opened in Ruggell. Since last November, the Liechtenstein-Oberland’s first casino has been operating, and in October this year, the company was coinitiator of the newly founded ‘Casino-Verband Fürstentum Liechtenstein’ (Casino Association of the Principality of Liechtenstein).
Other than the surrounding countries of Austria, Switzerland and Germany, gambling remained prohibited in the Principality of Liechtenstein until 2009. Still then, the effective market opening was preceded by several years of litigation as well as by the amendment of the Money Gaming Act of 2016 and the replacement of the original granting

of concessions by an individual licensing approval process. Today, any market participant that meets the strict licensing requirements is entitled to a casino operating license. Therewith Liechtenstein demonstrates a clear commitment to the free market, which will ultimately prove which casinos will be economically successful in the long term.
