Tertium quid refers to an unidentified third element that is in combination with two known ones. The phrase is associated with alchemy. It is Latin for "third thing". This could also be seen in art as the silent conversation between art and viewer. Te r t i u m q u i d i s b y d e f i n i t i o n unknown... We will never be able to pin point in absolute this element, but in the search, we will discover many things which have always been there, but we have been asleep and blind to them.

ARTIST “I try not get in the way of my work. To allow something else to appear, to show me the way… I recognize the presence of something else that works through me at the time of the creation. This can only happen when I surrender the illusion of control and become receptive.” –Jonathan Baez, 2015. Jonathan Baez (born July 20 1976 in the Dominican Republic) living in South Florida. Jonathan Baez's abstract art is "art by intuition" following his philosophy to not pre-conceive the work in the mind but to rather allow it to grow as it is being created. To feel the next brush stroke or color tone, rather than to think of it. His work is not to be intellectualized but felt... His mediums consist of ink, acrylic, charcoal, coffee and anything that is at hand's reach during the time of the creation.

ARTIST

“I AM CAMILO AND THIS IS WHO I AM: AN ARTIST” Camilo Rodriguez is a young artist with Down syndrome. He has felt a strong passion for art since his early years when Camilo started painting at only 3 years of age. “He loved to paint Disney’s characters, especially from the Lion’s King,” referred his mother, Priscilla. His neighbors would see his paintings as he pretended to be selling them. Camilo’s paint portrays nature, family, the world, and most recently, abstracts. His preferred media to express himself through the art are: pencil, pen, pastel, watercolor, oil, acrylic paint, and mixed media. The late Max Schacknow at the Schacknow Museum of Fine Arts influenced Camilo’s painting for over 8 years. Camilo’s paintings were showcased at the Museum with “Tango” and “Paradise” among others. The death of his Mentor left him with immense grief and Camilo temporarily stopped painting. Later, Camilo returned to the museum and regained his passion for the art. His preferred painters are Pablo Picasso and Claude Monet.
