CARNIVAL BLUES

When the announcement came that Mardi Gras 2021 was being cancelled, our hearts were heavy. This editorial embodies our heartbreak and is our tribute to not only the cancelled Carnival season, but also all the other weddings and events that have been cancelled, postponed or downsized due to the pandemic. We chose to photograph the editorial on location in the warehouse of Firefly Ambiance, a local decor rental company; we wanted to showcase all the celebratory settings that have been packed away while also offering a bit of hope that beauty can be found anywhere we choose to look and create it . -Jessica Burke, Publisher NOW Weddings Magazine

The gown features a detachable bow for a fun, flirty twist. A blue ombré veil from One Blushing Bride add the finishing touch. For a reception look, we added super long semi-sheer gloves with ruffled trim.

For Allie’s hair and makeup, Tina Rodosta of Verde Beauty Studio created a classic, elegant look and styled her hair in a low chignon that easily paired with multiple headpieces and veils.

We’ve paired this gown with a blue ombré veil from One Blushing Bride, a blue velvet pearl headband, a Russian emerald blue sapphire cocktail ring and geometric dangle earrings.

Allie is wearing blue ready made press-on nails in Nicaragua by Passport Polish in their new short length.
