ASHLY + RIDGE’S STORY Ashly and Ridge met in 2018 in Panama City when both had been booked for a week-long photo shoot. As fate would have it, the two were paired up and given the role of “Husband and Wife” for the shoot! After the fateful photo shoot, Ridge and Ashley kept in touch, eventually dating long distance. They spent years flying back and forth to visit each other until March of 2020 when Ashly flew in to New Orleans to visit Ridge and his family. With the world in lockdown, the couple spent months together and decided that it was time for Ashly to move to Louisiana officially. On New Year’s Eve of 2020, Ridge proposed to Ashly. She said “Yes!”

FAVORITE MOMENTS Ashly and Ridge’s favorite experience from the wedding day happened within moments of each other. For Ridge “seeing the outline of Ashly’s dress just before they opened the doors” before Ashly walked down the aisle is a moment he’ll never forget. For Ashley it was just seconds later after the doors opened and she walked down the aisle. THE WEDDING ATTIRE Ashly found the

perfect dress at the first boutique she visited, Linen Jolie Bridal. “After trying on the fourth dress - I knew I was done looking,” she shares of her stunning Enzoani Mikado mermaid gown. “It was beautifully classic in the front, and the back had a detachable, asymmetric bow that gave the WOW factor. I loved the bow so much I kept it on the whole reception!” Ridge opted to have his tuxedo custom made by custom clothier Luca Falcone. “I knew I wanted black because I’ve always been drawn to the timeless classic look,” says Ridge, “and here in New Orleans it gets hot so I wanted something lightweight so we went with a suede cotton blend.” Ridge was thrilled when he learned that the tailors could create his tuxedo shirt with a detail he was hoping for: black piping on the edge.

PAIGE + HAKEEM’S STORY Paige and Hakeem met in a public speaking class during their sophomore year of college and became friends after working on a group project together. The summer after that fateful meeting Hakeem asked Paige to be his best friend on “Best Friend Day” and exactly two years later he asked her out on a date! Hakeem took Paige shopping to pick out her dream engagement ring, but kept the details of the proposal to himself. To keep the actual moment a surprise, he made it a point to practice his monologue on her so she wouldn’t know when the actual proposal was happening. He chose her 26th birthday for the big moment, asking for her hand just before dessert at her birthday dinner, convincing Paige that the waitress was taking a commemorative birthday photo, but having her video the moment he presented her with the ring. Paige cried tears of joy and of course, said “Yes!”

THE WEDDINGS Paige and Hakeem began planning their

April 2022 wedding in the summer of 2020, however the April 2022 date would become their second wedding date. The couple was married in May of 2021 after Paige’s mother received a poor prognosis for her brain tumor. Paige and Hakeem were able to celebrate their wedding with Paige’s mother and Paige treasures the memory of her mother seeing her in her gown, one of the last things she saw before losing her vision. At their 2022 wedding, the couple honored Mrs. Jones with a bouquet of flowers on a chair reserved for her at the front row of the ceremony. Among many pieces of special jewelry, Paige wore a pearl bracelet, a gift from Hakeem’s aunt, with a photo of Paige and her mother from the first wedding.

THEIR FAVORITE MOMENT “Our favorite part was the

First Look,” shares Paige. "We were already married technically, but we were both nervous and super excited to see the other person.” Hakeem was overjoyed to see the joy on his beautiful wife's face and Paige was excited to see Hakeem in his custommade suit.

THE JUMPING OF THE BROOM Hakeem and Paige wanted to honor their ancestors and the sacrifices of their loved ones for them to be in the position to marry and become successful, so they chose to include the Jumping of the Broom ceremony at their wedding. The broom was provided by Paige’s parents, who had it in their possession for years and decorated by Paige’s maid of honor. Jumping the broom was a tradition of African slaves, representing that a marriage was official. “Although its creation may be based in a painful history, the tradition itself represents jumping over obstacles together into a new chapter,” shares Paige.

ABOUT THE WEDDING DATE (AND TIME) “When we originally set our wedding date, we didn’t realize we chose Mole Day as our date until a friend pointed it out,” shares Sara. “We both studied Chemical Engineering, so we had to go along with the theme and began our ceremony at 6:02 PM.”

THEIR FAVORITE PLACE “We met via

mutual friends at Lucy’s, our favorite bar in the city!” shares Sara. “Of course we had to celebrate our after party at Lucy’s, which is one of the reasons we chose our venue location.” The couple loves Lucy’s so much that they named their dog Lucy. Although Lucy, the dog, couldn’t attend the actual wedding, Sara and Colin had her waiting outside so they could take photos with her after the Second Line! They also included her photo on cocktail napkins at the reception!

THEIR FAVORITE PART “We took a few

lessons with an instructor to perfect our first dance to the song “The Bones” by Maren Morris. We were nervous, but once the song started playing it felt like it was just the two of us on the dance floor. It was so much fun getting to show off our new skills to all of our loved ones!”
