MATTA strengthens role in Penang MATTA, the full name of “Malaysia Association of Tour and Travel Agents”, currently has 12 workplaces in Malaysia and organize a collection of journey festivals for both outbound and inbound travel companies. And Now, it has a latest move to open a brand-new department on the popular island, Penang, for 179 company members.
ACCOR PLANS TO LAUNCH 13 IBIS BUDGET HOTELS IN SINGAPORE In accordance with the deal between Hospitality group Accor and Global Premium Hotels, Accor concludes a plan to launch new hospitality of 13 ibis budget hotels in Singapore (Rebranded from existing Fragrance hotels), bringing all inventory to 7,625 rooms across 30 hotels. The company also provides 3,357 rooms in the luxury and additional space, 1,840 in midscale and a further 2,428 in economy. Moreover, the renovation plan, it aims to become the largest hotel operator in Singapore by rebranding into one Mercure and one ibis Styles hotel by mid-2020 as well.
Chiva-Som’s fundraising gala dinner for a mangrove preservation project Chiva-Som International Health Resort is now hosting an event “Wellness Chiva-Som International Gala Dinner” for the crowdfunding to a mangrove preservation and environmental wellness project to protect Hua Hin’s last remaining mangrove forest. Chef Sinchai Srivipa, Chiva-Som’s executive, and Michelin star chef Dan Bark will collaborate to perform an eight-course wellness-inspired cuisine dinner, and with a fine range of four wine parings and wellness drinks. The event will be held on 1 December 2019 at the resort.

VIETNAM AIRLINES OFFERS IN-FLIGHT WIFI This is the first time who travels with Vietnam Airline will be able to connect to the internet via WIFI accessibility on several flights. This can be called another innovative step for the flag carrier towards embedding digital technology in its provided service. Which WIFI service can be experienced on Airbus A350 on routes between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, Shanghai and Osaka; and between Ho Chi Minh City and Osaka and Singapore. This service is available from October 2019 to the end of December 2019.

DUBAI OFFERS INSTANT VAT REFUNDS FOR CHINESE TRAVELERS VIA WECHAT
MMPRC PLANS TO BRING MICE ON MALDIVES RADAR Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) has revealed its efforts to enter MICE (Meetings, Incentive Travel, and Conventions) cultural and sports tourism. MMPRC had aimed at hosting five roadshows in 13 markets in Maldives, plus 12 joint promotion programs by working with MICE for the strategies. And with two global campaigns and several foreign media trips have been conducted with great success.
Myanmar expands visaon-arrival list Several countries are added in its visa-on-arrival list of Myanmar as its tourism appeal worldwide. Six countries for a visa-on-arrival list: Australia, Germany, Italy, Russia, Spain and Switzerland, will be effective from October 2019. May Myat Mon Win, chairperson of Myanmar Tourism Marketing, demonstrated that with these new regulation to ease access to Myanmar will bring more traveler from the globe to discover and have fun with our rich and beautiful culture, nature and friendliness from people.

Chinses traveler can now enjoy and benefit from instant VAT refund capabilities at Dubai Airports via “We Tax Refund� on WeChat app. The tax refunds will be received in Chinese RMB currency, and a notification will be shown once the refund has been issued. Issam Kazim, CEO of Dubai Tourism stated, this support key would allow the city to increase our portfolio of critical touchpoints. According to the policy, it has 12% growth of Chinese travelers (650,000 Chinese travelers) within the first eight months of the year.

NEWS NOW CHINESE OUTBOUND TRAVELER’S EXPENDITURE REACHES TOPS USD 127.5 BILLION According to the tourism report from the Balance of Payments Report released by China’s State Administration of Foreign Exchange in the first half of 2019, revealed that Chinese traveler spent a total of amount of USD 127.5 billion on outbound destination in the first half of 2019. 54% of Chinese outbound travelers was spent in Asia, 24% and 13% in America and Europe orderly. Moreover, the most common and frequent payment was on online mobile and seem to increase continually in number.
