After you leave the city behind and find yourself on the open desert plains, you will certainly reach the peace and beauty of real nature. Abu Dhabi's desert is home to mostly small animals, many of which make their primary appearances after sunset. However, there are some interesting things to see during the day. The range of African wildlife can be found here. The landscape is largely flat with grass dispersed unevenly throughout.

CAMEL Ride

iding a camel is one of the most uncomfortable experiences you can have. Though it is generally available at public beaches or parks in the city center, riding a camel in the desert is much more fun and bound to be one of your favorites memories from your trip to Abu Dhabi. However, we should also tell you that this activity will also be uncomfortable. As camels are not horses, they are quiet large and generally intolerant. So beware in your approach because they can bite you. Moreover, mounting a camel is really different from mounting a horse. It is just tough to dismount. This is not a big deal for this desert trip though. As far as you are on a camel in the desert, you will find yourself doing one of the most unlikely and wonderful things in Abu Dhabi.

In some parts of the world, such as the fragile coastal dunes of Australia, dune basing is illegal. On the contrary, in others such as the Middle East, it is a booming activity for local and foreign tourists.

DUNE Bashing

his is a popular weekend activity of the Emiratis, but they can invite foreign visitors to experience the same exhilarating and addictive pastime. Dune bashing is pretty similar to car racing in terms that the driver need to have experience in maneuvering the car and preventing accidents. Make sure that you have a professional driver that knows how to prepare the car and the tire pressure before entering the desert. It is important to reduce the downward pressure of the 4WD on the sand because there is a greater surface area. “I switched my career to something people can physically experience.” What is S15’s concept?

It began with a market research on hotel, which showed inadequate number of hotels during hi-season. So instead of investing in a condominium, a hotel was a more appealing option in the long run. Modern design was chosen for S15 to present S15 as the stylish new hotel and it served very well. Following the success of S15, S31 was established soon after, and although marketing wasn’t a big part in the early life of business, the increasingly competitive market motivated new marketing scheme in order to enhance the hotel experience.

The Highlights

“At S15, the guests don’t want long list of amenities or over-the-top facilities. They only want a cozy and comfortable place to rest. They wake up, go out, and come back to sleep at night, so reasonable price is a big consideration. It’s just like us when we travel oversea and would normally be out all day. On the other hand, “S31’s guests spend a lot of time at the hotel. We offer excellent on-site restaurants, amazing ambience, and comprehensive facilities.” But the striking attraction here is the design itself. Starting from the building, furniture, down to the tiniest detail, every design at S31 sums up the identity of Design & Fashion. It is one of the pioneers in design hotel in Thailand, and the feedback has been tremendous since the first day.

What did you do before?

As I graduated freshly out of a university, I became a home and office designer. It was like selling a dream since clients wouldn’t see the whole picture until the place is completed. Soon, I switched my career to something people can physically feel and touch like furniture, and began my furniture import business.

As the hotel grows, what obstacles did you have to overcome?

There are always obstacles. But I enjoy work and I am very active. Instead of staying in office and manage S15 when it was completed, I jumped to S31 and ran it for 6 months before passing it on and oversee the overall business of both hotels. Each hotel must be able to run on its own, so I can move on to new developments. Right now I am developing S Box, the new hotel across the street from the existing hotel. Each room has a little less than 20 square meters, which takes the concept from Japanese capsule hotel where guests don’t need large space but sleep comfortably.

Sleep Box, which doesn’t even have private restroom. Here, we see the opportunity in Bangkok so we take this concept and add extra facilities to it.

What is the charm of Bangkok?

Food and spa in Bangkok are the best. I have been to most, if not all, spas in Bangkok. One of my favourites is Barai Spa. I love the architecture and the creative menu. And why do I love spa? It’s because it rejuvenate, detoxify, and energize my life.

How do you organize your time?

I was heading to Nagano, situated on the island of Honshu, the major island of Japan. It is well recognized as a place of friendly and smiley Japanese people whose ancient architecture is simply combined with modern lifestyle of Japan's young generations. Though it might be known among foreigners very little, it is, for locals, the heart of Japan. I swear you will never get lost while being here. NOW Travel Asia

o get to Nagano, I flied from Bangkok, Thailand to Narita International Airport in Tokyo. Then, I took a bullet train, so-called Nagano Shinkansen, connecting Tokyo and Nagano since the 1998 Winter Olympics held in Nagano. However, you still have more transportation options to reach Nagano, such as bus, rental car, or domestic airline. Let me tell you whereabout in Nagano I have been then. Nagano is located right in the center of Honshu Island. I decided to arrive here in the middle of January before spring. It was still freezing and sometimes raining (that is the worst!). However, the unpredictable climate could not stop me from appreciating a thrilling panorama of high snowy mountains and Suwa Lake in Nagano. Luckily, I was ready to stand against the wind on the cliff and captured nice photos of the Japanese Sea before leaving. If you love snowy and windy winter, try this legendary trip as I did. Otherwise, you can wait til the snow is gone by March. There will come the cherry blossoms, a sign of the wonderful spring season. This period of time beats many parts of Japan. I bet one of the most popular parts of Nagano is Suwa City. It has many historical and cultural sightseeings. I started off with Suwa Shrine or Suwa Taisha. It is one of the oldest and most important Shinto shrine in Japan, aged 1,200 years. I could sense the ancientness of place amid the century-long pine forests. The holy shrine is entirely made from wood, looking warm but old. People coming here to pray as they wish to get a long life, security, and success. Suwa Shrine has more than 10,000 subbranches throughout Japan. It is also known for the Onbashira Matsuri Festival where hundreds of men ride on four huge logs rolling down hill. It is held in Suwa every seven years.

In the neighborhood of Suwa Shrine, there are also two museums, named Somei-kan Suwako Orgel Museum and Suwako Watch and Clock Museum Gishodo. They are both close to each other, so I could shortly make a visit from one to another. The former presents a wide collection of music boxes from all over the world, ranging from very tiny ones to huge old-fashioned music boxes from Europe. Some are over a hundred years old. Unbelievably, 90 per cent of the world's music boxes are made in Suwa. Suwako Watch and Clock Museum Gishodo is very unique for its water-powered clock (as tall as a three-storey building) in which hundreds of gear trains are formed. Surprisingly, the clock has been accurate for long. The museum also displays Suwa areaâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s clock-making skills to help visitors better understand this complicated timepiece. I wish I could spend time taking a clock-making lesson in order to make their own unique clock or watch but there were many other places awaiting me.

lake is rather seen in winter when a special natural phenomenon called Omiwatari (or known as The God's Passage) takes place. During a longterm winter, the lake entirely freezes solid. Local people warned me not to walk on the lake during the night when the temperature drops even further. This is because the ice suddenly shrinks and cracks when cooling, making a loud noise. So, it is totally dangerous to risk myself on the cracked and frozen lake surface. At the moment, Omiwatari appeared for the first time in 4 years. Shinto priests will predict the future harvest by the traces of Omiwatari. At Lake Suwa-ko Geyser Center, I stopped by Nanatsu-gama, where seven geysers gush. Walking from the center, you will also see a footpath called Kohan Koen Ashi-yu, where you can relax your feet in the Kami-Suwa Onsen overlooking Lake Suwa-ko and the mountains of the Northern Alps.

After the museum, I headed to Lake Suwa-ko. It is just right in the center of Nagano and sitting at an altitude of 759 meters. it is also the largest lake in the prefecture with a circumference of 15.9 kilometers. The lake is popular in both summer and winter. In summer, people just come here to see fireworks at night. Highlight of the

fterwards I took a bus to the new city of Matsumoto located in Nagano Prefecture. This city was established with the merges of the old city of Matsumoto and 4 local villages. I guess lots of travelers like to come here because of its beautiful mountain views and calm climate. Some like to go hiking and climbing in the mountains while local public transportation is also ready to

serve their fun interest. Moreover, Matsumoto has several historic features reflecting richness of Japan's cultural heritage, such as Matsumoto Castle (originally called Fukashi Castle) renovated by Lord Sadayoshi Ogasawara. The castle was surrounded by stony fortresses and Tenshu Tower on a plateau facing a mote. In the past, Japanese samurai resided in the inner ring while

the 2-mile outer wall stretches was designed to deaden the impact from the rounds of cannon fire. Presently, it is still well-constructed due to a lack of natural disasters. If you want to see all details of the castle, swords and antique weapons, you may need to spend half a day here. So, I chose to skim through many things and left for Obusedo, aged over 600 years.

bizarrely felt like I did not need to rush myself to see somewhere else. I would love to stop at this place and stay in one of the traditional Japanese houses around. If you have ever seen Japanese Samurai movies, the houses like in the movies can be seen in Obusedo somewhat. Presently, Obusedo still holds great pride and respect for the rich history of Obuse established during Edo/ Meiji periods. Though the attitude towards Japanese cultural identity was very strong at this time, the Canadian Anglican church was welcomed to settle down here in order to build the Shinsei Tuberculosis Treatment Center in 1874. It is likely that Obusedo people still maintain their agricultural role in cultivating chestnut. Some sell local souvenirs but many of them tend to open new restaurants amidst the classic ambiance.

Nyorai, the first buddha statue that was delivered from Korea in 522. It is now called Secret/ Hidden Buddha and displayed to the public only every six years (the next time will be in 2015). A major renovation of the great inner gate finished in 2007. It is called Gate/Tunnel to Heaven. From here, you can see a beautiful row of houses along the street in different angles. Epson in a small and peaceful city named Shiojiri City. Seiko Epson opens Shinshu Watch Studio in this city because of its clean air and water. All is used to be part of watch manufacturing. The studio produces Grand Seiko and Credor, automatic handmade watches around 100,000 Yen. Some collections are no longer produced. This place does not sell a watch but is open for public to see the production process of a watch.

The next spot those coming to Nagano should not miss out is Zenkoji Temple. This temple, first built in the 7th century, is a major pilgrimage site. Its major draw is the Hibutsu or kko-Sanzon Amida NOW Travel Asia

I left the studio for another impressive tourist spot of Nagano where you can just sit and take a picture of the other creatures in front of you. Walking through the pine forests for 15-20 minutes, I finally arrived in Snow Monkey Park or Jigokudani Yaenkoen located in the Yokoyu River valley. At an elevation of 850 meters, the area is called Jigokudani or Hell's Valley due to the steep cliffs and hot water steaming out from the earth's surface. As a result, this is also a paradise for hundreds of monkeys that live here together. I just watched them doing very few things in cold weather. I could not help thinking about human motion that look really similar to the monkeys'. I laughed that they did not care how many people would like to take a picture of them but focused on swimming in the natural hot spring. 100

ast but not least, it has been almost a month since i went there, but there are several things about Nagano in my mind. Particularly, Prince Snow Resort Karuizawa still makes me smile. I always think about the time when I was skiing among a number of skiers and snowboaders. I was a bit embarassed every time I fell down against the snow. It was really fun though. It would have been good to visit this place with my family or friends. So, we could also go to Shiraito Falls. Though its height is only three meters, but its length is around 70 meters. The amount of water were flowing in several streams and eventually to the jade pond. I am glad that I did not miss Nagano, and that I understand the real Japanese identity more than before. What

can I say? Well, Japanese society is not that unique in every single aspect. Nagano proves that it is a destination of diversity and generosity. Whenever you come here, every element will become unforgettable over and over again. Tips: Nagano hosted the 1998 Winter Olympic Games. Many of the Olympic facilities are still open. You will see a lot of indoor and outdoor sports enthusiasts playing in the M-Wave speedskating arena and the Aqua-Wing arena. Though it is crowded in winter, but this is the best time to experience onsen and ski resorts in the Japanese Alps by yourself.

Mix Restaurant & Bar Chiangmai is the origin of other Mix Restaurant & Bar branches. Mr.Somsawat has created all menus his restaurants offer to make sure that all branches are at the same quality. Even it's fusion food but still maintains the original taste. Today Mr.Somsawat cooked Grilled Salmon wit Mango Sauce for us. It is rich in Thai taste with seafood sauce but also smooth with the sweet of mango sauce. Finally we ended up with the special cocktail only available here, Mix Heaven which is a stare way to heaven from Mix Restaurant & Bar. The group target of Mix is various because Mix is good but inexpensive. The average budget is around 200 THB for food. QUEEN SIRIKIT BOTANIC GARDEN

f you have a chance to visit Maerim, Maesa waterfall, and Maesa elephant camp, there is one more must stop near by, Queen Sirikit Botanic Garden with its outstanding identity for study about plant and geography. In the beginning the Queen Sirikit Botanic Garden was one of the Royal Forest Department's arboreta which is known as Maesa Garden. As the years pass by, to honor Her Majesty Queen Sirikit of Thailand whose dedication to biodiversity conversation is internationally recognized, the Botanic Garden Organization requested for Her Majesty's name as the new title for the gardenRoyal permission was granted in April 1994, on Her Majesty's sixtieth birthday, hence was born the Queen Sirikit Botanic Garden. Although the main focus is on the Northern Thai flora and surrounding regions, the Queen Sirikit Botanic Garden (QSBG) has an integrated programme of research, education and amenity aimed at a global perspective. The QSBG has an extensive research facility housing the herbarium, micropropagation laboratories, and library. Research work covers a wide spectrum of morphological, entomological, biochemical and molecular studies. Species recovery and ex-situ conservation projects include work with endangered native Thai orchids, cycads and palms. In addition, the QSBG protects a large area of the unique tropical deciduous forest with its associated wildlife as a conservation zone. The Queen Sirikit Botanic Garden is contoured into the foothills of the mist-shrouded Doi-Suthep-Pui Mountain in Chiang Mai, Thailand. It is Thailand’s oldest and foremost botanic garden and major centre for scientific research. Dedicated to the conservation of Thai flora, it holds collections of, and carries out research on rare, endemic and endangered species.

The first stop to discover is the souvenir shop with rare plant, coffee, and many types of souvenir. Then the next should be information center to get the direction of this garden and the long history of the garden. There is a video presentation for whoever's intense to know all stories of the Queen Botanic Garden. After the information center, the road leads to Sawetpiman with Zephyranthes and there is also the big group of white flowers along the way to the glasshouse complex. It's a big pile of 120 different types of white flower which is planned to reach 300 types in the future. The forth stop is 77 year garden where there are many rare plants include Puy Sai, Chiangpra Nangair, Jundong, and so many more. You can also find the best herbal treatment and medication there as well. Next, the most outstanding feature of the Queen Sirikit Botanic Garden, The Glasshouse Complex is presenting 4 permanent houses and 8 small temporary houses. The condition inside the houses is controlled to make the plants feel like natural. With high technology, the moisture, air flowing, and sunlight is just perfectly set. The Natural Science Museum, this museum is especially targeted to a young audience with interactive displays, digital media and inspiring photo-montages. The museum introduces and outlines many themes including: the origins of life, biodiversity, the importance of forests, the critical role of watersheds, man’s relationship with nature and the role of taxonomy and classification in conservation. There is a detailed display of the 10 forest types found in Thailand: their characteristics, biotic and abiotic factors and associated fauna.

Before the last stop, Wullayachart path will lead you to the way to the big garden to see the nestled tree amongst the intertwining trails which are the various family collections: Arecaceae, Myrtaceae, Mimosaceae, Papilionaceae, Caesalpinaceae, Musaceae, Moraceae, Ebenaceae, and Zingiberaceae. At the end of the discovery path, there is Maesa Noy waterfall and Suan Hin which was the walk path in the past and has at least 350 types of plant along the path. For all visitors, half day is perfect to explore this royal garden and learn about plant. Any photographer may taken the beautiful plant pictures and go home with loads of natural beauty. The Arid House is a display house for new and old world Cactaceae, Agavaceae, Euphorbiaceae, Aloeaceae, and Cycadaceae from many sources around the world: America, Peru, Mexico, and Brazil. The Aquatic House is a showroom of 100 different types of aquatic and march/wetland plants, including Victoria amazonica, Nelumbo nucifera and many species of Nymphaea. Most plants showed in the aquatic house is Thai aquatic lotus and other Thai aquatic plant.

The Rainforest House is Illustrating lowland tropical rainforest of high annual rainfall, this conservatory showcases many representative and rare species found in Southern Thailand and Southeast Asia, including: Kerriodoxa elegans, Tapeinochilus ananassae Areca catechu, Borasodendron machadonis, Cinnamomum iners, Johannesteijsmannia magnifica, Zingiber spectabile, Pauldopia ghortu and species of Aristolochia and Amorphophallus. The Orchids and Fern House is a display house for epiphytic and terrestrial Thai orchids and ferns, including large specimens of Grammatophyllum speciosum (tiger orchid) and Platycerium coronarium.
