Prior to NPower, I was an active-duty Military with a BSc in Business Management and had very little IT experience. During my transition from Military to civilian life, I made the decision to change my career to Tech because I have always had an interest in technology, but I didn’t know where to begin. I was assigned a VA counselor, who sent me various transitioning resources, and out of all of them, NPower stood out to me, so I applied and was accepted into the program. Thanks to the team at NPower, I have acquired some new technical skills like troubleshooting, networking, and computer hardware operation, among others. I am looking forward to applying these skills in my first IT position and exploring the technology world.

Before joining this program, I had a career as an Industrial mechanic and wanted to turn a new leaf. I’ve always been interested in technology and innovation. NPower offered me guidance and the tools to succeed. Throughout my journey, I learned to be professional and become a better leader. Thanks to the knowledge and insight I’ve gained, I’m better prepared for my future career and challenges. This program granted me access to opportunities that were once out of reach. The instructors and my fellow peers supported me and motivated me to progress. What you gain from this course is priceless. I highly recommend NPower to anyone looking to jumpstart their IT career.

Growing up, my dream was to enter the medical field. However, as I grew older, I discovered my passion for both the tech and business industries. I enrolled in Rutgers with an undecided major in Business School, eventually double majoring in Management Information Systems and Leadership. Prior to joining NPower, I had interned as a project manager for a small business and was planning to pursue my PMP certification after graduation. However, I discovered NPower on LinkedIn and was drawn to the free certifications, professional development, and mentorship offered by the program. The in-person events were particularly valuable, as I was able to network with classmates and teachers from diverse backgrounds. Though I initially intended to become a project manager, the programming exposure I received through the Google Certificates and internships has led me to consider a career in software development.

What made NPower stand out to me, was the path to financial freedom. NPower to me, means I was able to complete something, I set out a goal and I was able to accomplish it. I struggled with college, as they never quite matched my learning style, and honestly, I wasn’t too confident I would make it through. I stuck with NPower because I had very supportive classmates and teachers. I wasn’t allowed to make excuses, but I was listened to and acknowledged. In the future, I hope to be working as a freelance designer in UI/UX design. Thanks to NPOWER, I’m prepared to take on any opportunity that comes my way.

Before NPower, I was working my first job after graduating from Rutgers University. I was unsure of my career path, so I began exploring different career options and gravitated toward the IT field. At this point, I was ready to pursue this new interest, but I didn’t know where to start. With no background in IT, I thought this wouldn’t be an option for me until I learned about the NPower program. After extensive research and reading different success stories, I applied. NPower has provided me with the knowledge and skills I needed to feel confident about my new journey in the IT world. This is only the beginning and I’m excited for what’s to come. I look forward to earning more certifications and expanding my professional network. Thankful to the staff at NPower for their guidance and words of encouragement.

Before I joined NPower my life had no direction. I was stuck in this constant in-between with no way of getting out. This program was offered to me by my stepdad as I was looking for a career change. I’ve always had a keen interest in technology since I was young, so this program was right up my alley. When the program started, I was a little apprehensive because I believed I couldn’t match with everyone else. Everyone in my cohort had a mix of prior knowledge or unique experiences that led them to NPower. I truly felt like I didn’t deserve to be a part of this. Over time I slowly started to overcome my own mental limitations through the assistance of my SSM. It will be a long road before I reach my goals, but I now look forward to what the future offers.

A few months before NPower, I completed Basic Combat Training in the US Army where I serve as a reservist. I had also acquired some experience working on AWS tools for over two years prior to that. However, I wanted to learn how the computer itself works, then I learned about this program from an NPower alumnus who hailed the program as a golden opportunity not only on computer hardware but also a broad knowledge of how IT works. I also met with interesting and passionate team members and together, we made an important network with professionals in all sectors of IT. I wish to pursue my IT journey in DevOps, Solutions Architecture, and or Security around the web.

Before discovering NPower, I struggled mentally and felt discouraged about my future due to not being able to further my education. However, a family friend recommended NPower, which turned out to be one of the best decisions I’ve made in my life. NPower provided me with opportunities, wisdom, and a network of talented and creative people who have played a crucial role in my success. Through the program, I discovered a passion for technology and gained skills that I never thought I could. With the support of NPower, I achieved notable accomplishments and gained the confidence to pursue a career in the tech field. I am excited about the future and grateful to NPower for the positive impact they’ve had on my life.

Before NPower, I graduated from Union College with an associate in computer science, but due to financial issues with the school, I couldn’t pursue my Bachelor’s. I had no direction in where I wanted to go with my career. During this time, my friend recommended NPower, an organization that has truly changed my life. They have provided me with knowledge and hands-on experience in our Tech Fundamentals course while also helping with our soft skills and professionalism through our Professional Development staff. I’ve obtained my CompTIA A+ and my Google IT Fundamentals certifications, I’ve met a ton of amazing people, and I’ve gained confidence in myself to pursue IT from a different perspective. NPower has inspired me, one day I want to run a non-profit organization for young people and give them the resources that they need to be the best version of themselves like NPower pushed me to be.

As a recent Information Technology Informatics major from Rutgers University-New Brunswick, I had a general understanding of IT. However, I also understood that having a degree was not enough in the current competitive job market. A friend recommended me a program called NPower and said it kickstarted his career, so I applied. NPower has provided me with various resources to kickstart my career in technology. This program has put me on the right path, whether it’s in terms of study material or professional development, and I’m very grateful for it.

Before NPower, I was pursuing a degree in public health. I knew I wanted to make an impact in the world through health and technology, but I did not have any guidance on how to do so. After expressing my interest in a health tech career to a friend, he suggested the NPower program. He was also a NPower alumnus and has the same career interest as me. Joining NPower has given me the solid foundation of the principles, resources, professionalism, and confidence I needed to continue my health tech journey. Without NPower, I would still be struggling to grasp the foundations of technology and build a supportive community. Now that the program is completed, I look forward to gaining employment, continuing my tech education, and maintaining the genuine relationship I have built through NPower.

Taking this program made me realize that when you’re stressed out, you will be in life; sometimes the only thing you need to do is take a big breath of fresh air. Yes, you want to be successful and never fail, but don’t forget you make mistakes just like everyone on earth has. I’m a middle child; being the middle child meant, I was able to learn from my older siblings, but also meant I was teaching my younger sibling. This program will make you realize that you are also a middle child. From the alumni who were taught by our professor, to the new students after me. Continue to learn; life is full of lessons and the only way you know you’re learning is when you get stressed. So don’t forget to breathe.

Prior to joining NPower, I had a basic understanding of tech but needed to isolate my priorities to pursue it further. I had a background in operational management but felt limited in my career options. Fortunately, NPower provided the resources and opportunities to broaden my network and deepen my tech knowledge. Through exposure to alumni and guest speakers from our partnered companies, I learned how to properly grow and utilize my network. Now, I can pair my operational management background with tech fundamentals to transition into any tech-related field. I remain coachable and eager to expand my knowledge, having obtained three certifications in addition to the two I already had prior to joining the program.

As a NPower graduate, I am extremely grateful for the position I’m in today. Growing up in the inner city I never thought I’d end up taking part in a Network Engineering internship. Through the NPower curriculum, I’ve learned everything from internal and external hardware components to the basic configuration of Networks and servers. Another pivotal lesson taught at NPower is the importance of teamwork. They did a great job of using activities and projects to help us improve our communication skills. My favorite project was enlightening the class on the makeup of mobile devices. After gaining more experience in the field, my goal is to couple my creativity with my knowledge to begin developing mobile applications and video games. I can’t thank NPower enough for all the doors it has and the role they’ve played in my future.

Prior to joining this program, I had a little background in tech and little to no experience in the field. I was working as a manager in a hair salon where I grew my experience in management. During my time in the program, I received my Google IT Support Certification, CompTIA A+, and Google Project Management, and intend on pursuing my Python certificate. Along with my certifications, I was able to get technical experience along with professional advice to ultimately create a solid foundation for my career in the technology industry. Moving forward with the tools I’ve gained from NPower; I intend on using my management experience along with my extensive customer service experience to pursue my career in Project Management with a knowledge of coding on the side.

Before joining NPower, I was going through a time in which I could not continue my undergraduate career due to financial complications, but I knew I could not stop developing myself both academically and professionally. Looking back, I never had a true career goal. I just knew that I wanted to be successful. I spent most of my early 20s focusing on different career options such as forensic psychology, law, and a plethora of other paths that were not for me. I finally discovered my love for tech when I worked at the Apple store as a technician. I did not realize it then, but my career in tech had just started. My co-worker attended NPower and landed a great career opportunity, that was when I decided to take the leap of faith. NPower has brought a new sense of hope and motivation into my life. Before Joining NPower, I held a career in Finance which is what I thought I would be doing for the rest of my life. After holding several roles in finance, I realized that the field was not for me. I had several close people in my life who had attended NPower in the past and had really enjoyed their time there and obtained successful careers thanks to the program. After joining the cohort, I was amazed at how involved, attentive, knowledgeable, and empowering the instructors and the rest of the staff were with every trainee. From the guidance in completing the program certifications to resume drafting and ultimately to the placement process, I felt very supported by the entire staff. I have gained a lot of confidence and knowledge to enter the IT field and secure a successful career.

Before coming to NPower, I had always had a passion for fashion and playing sports, so it’s of no surprise that before the program I was on track to earning a degree in Graphic Design whilst on an academic football scholarship. Personal circumstances changed and I needed to return home to help my family, effectively stripping me of my scholarship. It was then that I found my passion for tech. My father, who had experience in the tech field reached out to me about the NPower program and all it offered. NPower’s staff and resources set you up for nothing but success. My experience at the program has been nothing short of amazing and I look forward to the opportunities that present themselves in the tech industry and plan on taking full advantage of the knowledge that I’ve gained here at NPower.

Prior to NPower, I was desperately seeking a career change, I was working at a Starbucks for 4 years and I felt it was time to start a career. I had always had an interest in computers and technology, but I didn’t know where to begin until my friend recommend NPower. In the beginning, NPower was very difficult, as I had no prior training the information seemed so intimidating. I wanted to give up but also wanted to change my life, so I continued, and I am so grateful I did. With regular meetings from the social support team, I was able to lock in on my goals and push myself for a better future. Thank you, NPower, for offering this amazing opportunity!

I am excited to announce my graduation from the rigorous NPower program. During the program, I gained the skills and knowledge to leverage technology to solve complex problems and develop innovative solutions. I am now eager to pursue a career in technology and positively impact his community, armed with the skills and knowledge gained from this program. Upon completing college for film, I dreamed of ideas that would allow me to be passionate while simultaneously successful in all my endeavors. I turned all my passions into a clear career path I could pursue for the rest of my life. I blindly jumped into a completely different path than I anticipated and trusted the process. I am grateful that I was granted the opportunity to join NPower’s IT Fundamentals Program. Prior to joining, I dedicated 8 years to the customer service industry where I gained troubleshooting skills. I then spent 4 years working for Apple. I spent 2 years as a product specialist, then went under deep training allowing me to switch to the Apple care IT department. My current goal is to take my skill set and land a full-time job as a Cyber security analyst and a Tech sales analyst working for Google.

Throughout the challenges in my life, I’ve been fortunate enough to avoid significant regrets. Never backing down from a challenge, including entering the IT field later in life, even though it frightened me. With NPower’s invaluable support, I successfully made the transition, and I am well on my way to becoming a Cloud Engineer. My time with NPower has been a surreal experience like having found so many like-minded individuals, passionate, excited, and eager to embrace all the challenges that will come. Before NPower, I had been working in a warehouse, working paycheck to paycheck which was a struggle for me, I knew I was destined for more. Trying to work my way up the ladder in my past company was a goal of mine. Unfortunately, doing so felt impossible, felt as if I was just overworking and pushing myself for no reason. A good friend of mine informed me about this program because he knew the passion and interest I had in technology; I decided to take this step and apply myself to this program. During my time at NPower, I learned so much about technology such as building a PC, learning to troubleshoot, learning about networks and printers, etc. After NPower, I plan to get an entry-level IT position just to get my foot in the door and gain experience, but my ultimate goal is to get into UX/ UI; I love that I can use the creative aspect of myself in that field. If I knew what I know now with everything that I have learned earlier in life, I wouldn’t have discouraged myself so much and just went for it. A word of advice to newcomers in this field, hard work pays off, and don’t ever discourage yourself. Anything is possible.

Growing up I wanted to be a philanthropist and a lawyer. Prior to my encounter with NPower, I was in the healthcare field where I realized I had a great affinity for Information Technology. As a resilient military spouse and a mother with vast experience in moving around our beloved nation, acquiring I.T. skills will empower me to work anywhere in the world. NPower to me means Empowerment. They are giving me technical skills as well as enabling me to develop professionally to succeed. I see myself being endowed with skills that will enable me to fit anywhere in the world. If I had Superpower, I would grant this great opportunity NPower is giving to me to young people and women in Africa to empower them economically. The message to my younger self is that the ‘Sky is not the limit but rather the stepping stone’.

I am a proud graduate of NPower’s tech program. It’s funny how life works out sometimes; I stumbled upon this opportunity by pure luck. A close friend of mine reached out to me and suggested that I would be a great fit for the program. I still vividly remember my interview with Terrance, where I openly shared one of my greatest fears: failure. Success is not always linear. Setbacks, stressful days, and sleepless nights are just a part of the journey. With determination, I could overcome any obstacles. Joining NPower was one of the best decisions I have ever made, as it perfectly aligned with my vision and passion for technology. It was a gateway to my introduction to the world of technology and an opportunity that I could not pass up. I am grateful for everything I have learned and accomplished through this program.

Since I was a little kid, I always liked technology from playing video games to loving to learn how computers work. I found it really cool how you can tell the computer what to do. Before I joined NPower, I was an engineering major at NJIT, I was pretty much set for success, however, I just didn’t find any excitement in my career track. I was reminded of my interest in technology and made the decision to drop out of NJIT and decided to refocus on my passion for tech by joining NPower. NPower was a beneficial experience for me, from the way they opened my network to their professional development courses. The only regret I have is not joining NPower years ago, but everything happens for a reason, and I am grateful.

As a first-generation daughter of immigrant parents fleeing communist Cuba, there were many challenges I faced growing up. With limited financial resources, my single mother relied on government assistance such as Section 8 and food stamps for much of my youth. Yet despite these obstacles, my mother made sure I was well taken care of. I realized early on that the best way I could thank her was to continue my studies and become a career-driven, empowered individual. I attended Kean University, obtained a bachelor’s degree in communication with honors, and decided to continue my education. I chose NPower because it is an exceptional tech program with dedicated instructors and an innovative curriculum. The program has equipped me with the resources I need to launch my career in tech. I plan to continue my studies and dive deeper into the world of Cybersecurity.

Nearing the end of my term in the military as a Healthcare Specialist, I decided I wanted to change my career to Information Technology. I was studying in school but was still intimidated by entering this field without having the required experience related to technology to show on a resume. I was recommended to apply to NPower and thought it could help my fears with transitioning. NPower contributed, not only with confidence in my decision but also with more opportunities than I expected to support my career development. Before, I was afraid that I would start a new career after all the work I had already invested in learning healthcare. I am now excited that I took this leap of faith with NPower, and I am ready to continue this path into tech.

As a college student graduating with a bachelor’s degree in IT, I was unsure about my future in the tech industry and didn’t feel ready to take on the challenges ahead. Fortunately, I came across NPower and saw an opportunity to expand my knowledge and gain more confidence in my abilities. Since joining the program, I have learned even more than I already knew about IT. The support system at NPower has also motivated me to work harder and push myself to achieve more. Before NPower, I wanted to find a career in software development, but it never felt right. No matter how hard I tried to make it interesting for myself or force myself to sit down and learn, it would never work. Eventually, I knew I needed something more, some guidance to drive me towards something I would enjoy and that career I’ve come to realize is project management. With NPower’s help, I was able to conquer all my doubts about what I could accomplish and go beyond everything I imagined. My only regret is that I won’t be able to go through this entire learning process all over again.

As an IT Fundamentals Trainee at NPower, I have gained experience in a range of technical skills and developed a passion for the field of information technology. During the program, I had the opportunity to work on hardware configuration, Linux simulations, troubleshooting, networking, and technical support. In the lab, I learned how to assemble computers, gaining valuable insight into hardware configuration. Through multiple simulations, I practiced troubleshooting computers using TCP/IP and OSI models. I also implemented Linux to manipulate a computer’s IP and MAC address to match up with the main network. As an IT support specialist, I have gained skills to assist customers with various technical issues. The NPower program has provided me with the foundational knowledge and practical experience necessary to launch my career in the tech industry. I am excited to continue building upon these skills and pursuing further opportunities in the field of information technology.

As a first-generation American citizen, I knew I had to go to a good college to make my family proud, but I wasn’t sure where I sure begin my search. So instead, I dived deep into working a retail job with the hope of eventually moving up to the corporate level. NPower has granted me the opportunity to grow and flourish in a new field with a vast pool of opportunities. NPower has allowed me to grasp the concept of IT through Google Coursera and CompTIA Certifications. In the future I’d love to work as a project manager navigating fun, but challenging tasks. I am a Navy veteran who was struggling to make a living. I had no idea what I was going to do, and I always loved technology. I was informed about NPower through a company called MOVE. I never knew how I could potentially get into tech this easily. The process is streamlined and wonderful. Since childhood, I loved to tinker with devices whether that was games, phones, consoles, or just plain old computers. I am grateful to God for this opportunity! In my leisure time I play video games, go out to eat and watch movies. I invest in stocks day by day searching for more opportunities in the market. I once created a video game but never published it. I hope to make a comeback real soon.

Growing up as a kid I didn’t have many aspirations. I went to college for tech but that didn’t last as many of my other needs weren’t met. One day I was recommended NPower by a coworker of mine who knew my situation. NPower provided accessibility, being available online and it fits my schedule. A moment I enjoyed in the program was when, as I was studying alone, I tested myself and ended up going above and beyond. I’ve benefited in my approach to engagements including coming early instead of on time. In a perfect world, I see myself in a high position within the Cyber Security field. I would tell my younger self to not forget to enjoy the little things and no matter what, never change for anyone.

Growing up I wanted to become a film director and travel the world. My dreams were to master skills, become a millionaire, and travel the world. I chose a tech career path to gain new skills and have access to new opportunities and earn a higher salary. NPower provides free tech training, job placement, skills, etc. so it’s a great opportunity. NPower showed me that teamwork and hard work are essential for tech success. One of my favorite moments in the program was the career closet because it gave me access to appropriate attire for professional occasions, which is essential. In a perfect world, after NPower, my future would include me working harder in the tech field, in my dream job with benefits that includes traveling and providing for my family. If I could tell my younger self anything, it would be to stay focused and be kinder to yourself because as long as you work hard and keep trying everything will work out in the end. The world is a lot bigger than you think, don’t settle, or limit yourself letting stress and worry take over. Don’t be afraid to try new things or be afraid to fail, just be yourself and stay strong!

The growth potential of careers within IT is what helped me begin my journey to tech. I chose to come to NPower because the programs here offer you comprehensive IT training within a short time frame. NPower fostered my ability to problem-solve and troubleshoot and taught me how to optimize my resources. Utilizing resources effectively allows you to fix a problem while learning a new process. Learning new ways to search for opportunities could be the difference between finding your next job or launching your new career. In a perfect world, I’d be able to embark on a new role within a company that allows me to expand upon my newly acquired skills in an environment with growth, productivity, and transparency. If I had a superpower, it would be the ability to multiply. There’s so much of life in the world and so little of me in comparison.

Growing up I had no clue what I wanted to do for the rest of my life, before joining NPower I had no idea what IT really was, but over time I was able to grasp the fundamentals. What led me to the IT field, was working in security for a data center staring at monitors all day and remotely live viewing other centers, I strived for more. I chose NPower because they explained the process and gave me everything I needed to succeed in the program. After NPower, I would like to gain more knowledge within the field. During my time in NPower, I’ve met an amazing group of individuals who work hard to make sure that not only me but everyone that crosses their path succeeds.

NPower has been a life-changing opportunity for me. I am grateful for the values and opportunities the organization provides. Tech has always been a passion, but due to a lack of resources, I had limited exposure to it until a job at Best Buy sparked my interest. NPower has made furthering my education possible despite financial burdens and personal challenges, including the loss of a close family member. The program has also helped me develop professionalism, including public speaking, body language, and Zoom etiquette. I am committed to being true to myself and my goal of giving back to the community while supporting my family. Overall, NPower has provided an opportunity for personal and professional growth, and I will remain dedicated to my goals.

I originally joined NPower for the amazing career services they provide, but I stayed for the people. My peers were very supportive of me while I worked on one of my certificates and the staff have always been in my corner since day one. I hope nothing but the best for the NPower Spring Classes of 2023. I’m truly excited to see the different journeys everyone will take from here.

Before NPower, I had just moved to New Jersey, I didn’t know anyone or anything, so I felt completely lost. I had just dropped out of college and had no firm plans for the future. Bewildered by it all, I found out about NPower scrolling through TikTok. The user said NPower was a great program to learn the foundations of IT plus they will provide you with support in job placement. I was delivering packages at the time and saw this as a great opportunity for a career. During NPower, I struggled through rigorous courses. Having to quit my job to prioritize class, I made sure to keep up with my deliverables. Mental health paid its toll on me but luckily, I had family, friends, and classmates to keep me up to par. After NPower, I’ll be looking to expand my knowledge and network, because there will always be opportunities out there.

Before Joining NPower, I had spent several years as a Telecom Field Engineer and wanted a career change. Fortunately, a friend recommended me to NPower, and joining this program has become a life changer for me. I have always had a strong interest in technology and NPower offered that and so much more. It showed me how to get out of my comfort zone, how to be professional, resume building and how to network. I look forward to combining my past work experience as a field engineer, combined with my new knowledge about technology, to advance my professional IT career. I thank NPower for jump-starting my IT career.

Growing up I wanted to be a social worker, my aspirations and dreams before NPower were to successfully launch and grow my business. I wanted to use my skills to help others and NPower is a great opportunity to do just that. I’ve seen the fruit of its students’ labor, for me NPower is a second chance and the right path to success. My favorite moment would have to be “Teach back Tuesdays” where each student teaches the class a specific subject, we’ve been learning throughout the course along with in-person Professional Development days going over elevator pitches and interviewing. I’ve gained not only technical skills but also how to speak and brand myself properly, I’ve gained knowledge and perspective from every guest speaker.

Prior to NPower, I was a young professional with an associate degree and credits toward a bachelor’s degree in business. As a new mother, I found myself at a crossroads in my professional journey. I was eager to apply my many skills to the tech industry.

Throughout my NPOWER journey, I distinguished myself as a diligent, compassionate, and driven student who consistently displayed leadership qualities in various ways. I was motivated by my desire to provide a better life for my child and used my experiences as a mother and smart worker as fuel for my success at NPower. I was a standout student and excelled in both technical and soft skills. After graduation, I plan to pursue a career in Project Management. I am very grateful for the education and experiences I received at NPower, and I am excited to apply my skills and knowledge to make a positive impact in the world.

U.S. Navy Veteran Served 8 years in the U.S. Navy as a CTM3 (Crypto Technician Maintenance)

Before joining NPower, I served in the U S Navy, and I earned an associate degree in computer science. I dreamed of a computer science and visual arts career. At Target, I discovered I had a talent for customer service. Constantly thinking, “Don’t lose faith in your dream, “I found an article about NPower in VA News. At NPower, the instructors, PDs, and SSMs have helped me plan that dream career. At NPower, I learned that customer service skills, along with technical expertise, matter in Tech. At NPower, an industry leader revealed his company provided a service that combined camera surveillance and an integrated computer algorithm. Feedback from industry professionals has reinforced that, after NPower, I will be a mission-ready member to my future team and company.

As an aspiring technology professional, I have always been intrigued by the limitless possibilities that technology offers. My early exposure to technology and computer-related challenges by my father sparked my interest in pursuing a career in the field of information technology. Over the years, my passion and proficiency in technology have only grown, and I have constantly found myself helping others navigate the intricacies of technology. It is for this reason that I was interested in participating in the program, having heard nothing but great things from a friend who went through the program themselves. My desire to learn and help others succeed made me a valuable addition to the program.

Ever since I was a kid, I’ve had a deep love for technology. I am thrilled to have pursued my passion at NPower, where I’ve been on the project management track, learning the fundamentals of leading successful tech projects. One of my proudest achievements is earning my Google ITS certification, which has given me a solid foundation in information technology support. I am also currently working towards my CompTIA A+ certification, which I know will further enhance my technical expertise. I am incredibly excited about my future career in the tech industry. NPower has equipped me with invaluable skills, including communication, teamwork, and leadership, that I am eager to put into practice. I am ready to take on new challenges, make a meaningful impact in the tech field, and continue my lifelong journey of learning and growth.

I’m a dedicated student who has spent her past few years working in healthcare; I’ve been working at a level 1 trauma center emergency department for 5 years now and my experience in this fast-paced environment has taught me how to think on my feet, prioritize tasks and work well under pressure. After facing so many challenges throughout the years, I decided to transition myself into something I was more passionate about which is IT. I’m excited to use the new skills and knowledge I gained through NPower. Throughout this time, I’ve been able to gain the google it support certificate, project management, and CompTIA 1101 + 1102. After graduation I look forward to pursuing a career in IT and focusing on growing in this new journey I’ve started and ready to make a difference in the tech industry.

Athanasios (Tommy) Karadimas 23, Flanders, NJ

Before Joining NPower, I was always looking for some way to get into the IT field, but I had some shortcomings. I have always had an interest in technology like when I first learned about custom computers, but it took getting hacked for me to find focus in my IT interests into cybersecurity, to protect others from what I had just experienced. The reason why I chose NPower was because I saw it come up while searching for a job and I decided to take the risk. NPower has been the best decision ever for me and it is my guide to reaching my dream career. I hope to see myself in a ‘Pen Test’ career in the future. If I were to have a superpower It would be the power of probability because nothing would be impossible. If I could tell my younger self something it would be to go with your gut.

Before NPower, technology was all around me constantly. Growing up in the early 2000s gave me the opportunity to witness technology develop right before my eyes. When my sister enlightened me about NPower, it felt like my destined life path unraveled right before my eyes. To me, hearing about NPower was like striking gold. Without NPower, the seeds that will bear the fruit of my IT career would not have been planted. Life after NPower would include me landing a help desk job and putting my newly developed IT skills to use to help others and show them the wonder behind IT. If I could go back and tell one thing to my younger self, eventually, we will enter the vast and ever-changing IT field and the possibilities are endless.

Before NPower, I was wondering what my next step in life would be. I just had my second child and felt motivated to achieve more and be a great example to my children. I did not like the feeling of being stagnant. I was introduced to NPower by a friend who spoke highly of the program. I had reached the ceiling in my current career and NPower’s mission seemed perfect for my new path in life. I took a leap of faith, and I am happy I did. Technology is our future and I’m grateful for the opportunity to be a part of it. Now I am a young mom pursuing a career in technology. This program laid a great foundation for me and my family.

For half a decade, I dedicated myself to Costco feeling aimless and unfulfilled. I knew that I needed a major career shift but had no idea where to start. That was until I came across NPower, a game-changing program that would breathe new life into my professional journey. With NPower, I’m not just learning new skills, I’m mastering them. The program provided me with invaluable technical and professional expertise that will propel me forward in my chosen field. Beyond that, I’ve had the pleasure of meeting countless incredible individuals and building a network that will serve me well for years to come. As someone who has always been drawn to the cutting-edge world of technology, I couldn’t be happier to be pursuing my passions with the guidance of NPower. I’m thrilled to embrace the challenges that lie ahead and am more than ready to take on whatever comes my way.

Before NPower, I was working in a warehouse job. I constantly felt like I was never going to achieve the goals I had for myself. I always had a curiosity about the technology field, just never thought I could break into the field because I had no degree. I was recommended to NPower by a friend who was completing the courses. They told me about all the opportunities NPower gave people and how it has helped people change their lives. The day I applied I told myself I would take any opportunity that the program would lead me into. I am glad to say ever since my interview I have not turned back, I finally have a purpose in my life again. NPower has given me new guidance to achieve my goals. NPower has led me into a new direction in life that I would have never imagined.

Before NPower, I was pursuing nursing. I just couldn’t shake the feeling that I wasn’t pursuing what I truly desired. I was wondering if I would end up one of those people who never found the right path. Then came along my friend Jeje, telling me all about a tech program he was accepted to. That “little tech program” turned out to be NPower. My favorite moments from the cohort were the impromptu study sessions with my classmates. Before NPower, I never would’ve imagined having the skills and knowledge that I have now. I came to NPower because of the opportunity. I stayed at NPower because I realized that we really are a family. Thank you, NPower. Thank you to my instructors, NPower staff, and my fellow classmates. Little did I know at the time, but joining NPower would end up changing the trajectory of my life.... forever.

As a first-generation immigrant from Nigeria in America, I have always desired a career in tech. Helping my family with computer problems sparked my love for technology and software development, but I lacked the necessary skills and connections to break into the industry. Then, I found NPower. The organization’s mission of empowering underprivileged individuals to pursue tech careers resonated with me, and I felt like it was the perfect fit. During my time at NPower, I gained a wealth of professional and technical skills, with professional development days standing out as a favorite moment. They were an excellent opportunity to grow with classmates personally and professionally. With my newly acquired skills and knowledge, I am excited to make a meaningful impact in the tech industry and pursue a job that will allow me to travel the world.

Prior to joining NPower, I became a small business owner of a cleaning company. Although being your own boss has its own benefits, I felt a sense of hopelessness and a lack of direction. I wanted to restart my career with something different. Something I would be able to learn and grow with. I always had an interest in technology, so when a friend of mine told me about NPower, I decided to take a chance on myself. My experience at NPower was both exciting and overwhelming. With the CompTIA A+ certification training, I can confidently say that this program was worth the stress and time! I would like to thank my classmates and the NPower team for helping with this opportunity.

Growing up I always had a passion for technology. Inspired by tech giants’ origin stories such as Apple and Google I wanted to figure out a way to pursue my own vision and skillsets to the tech world in some capacity. After graduating high school in 2016, I attended Essex County College and majored in Computer Engineering. After two years I realized that college wasn’t for me, and upon realizing that I decided to pursue my success by other means. Years later I came across NPower and the Tech Fundamentals Program that would later add value to my career. My goal is to become a Project Manager and acquire more certifications that will pique the interest of employers that come across my resume and would want to go ahead and collaborate.

Tajarie Wright

22, West Orange, NJ

Originally, I wanted to be a pediatrician when I grew up. However, as more time passed, I realized that not only do my interests change, but I also have more than one interests which led to my new goal of doing whatever brings me happiness. One new interest I developed later down the road is the interest in technology which led me to NPower. NPower has not only been able to help me build a foundation in technology, but it has also helped me to connect with others who are currently living my dream. One of my favorite moments in NPower was when I started to understand what I was learning, and my goals didn’t seem so far away or unattainable anymore. Later down the road after NPower, I hope to have a job that combines my love for working with children and technology.

NPower has been an incredible experience for me. Originally, it was a class to learn more about technology, but it quickly became a family. I not only learned technical skills but also networking and professional development. The knowledge I’ve gained in just these few months has been invaluable. I’ve learned that “It’s not about who you know. It’s about who knows you know what you know.” So not only network but dig deep into the conversations you have. I now aspire for much more since being exposed to NPower. I’ve seen people that look and talk like me, and come from similar backgrounds as mine, not only reach their goals but excel and achieve heights they’ve never imagined. Now, I can only envision the same for myself. If I could tell my younger self something, it’d be to try new things and put yourself out there for opportunities. Take risks & prosper!

Ever since I was a child, I’ve been fascinated by the power of technology. My uncle was the one who first introduced me to the world of technology, and I’ve been hooked ever since. When it came time to choose a program, I knew I wanted to pursue my passion for technology, so I decided to enroll in NPower. This program has exceeded my expectations, and I’m grateful for the teachers and learning opportunities that have been given to me. My favorite moment so far is meeting up with the morning classes in person for the first time, it was great to finally be able to see everyone in person and the support they showed me that day was so generous. I’m excited to see where my knowledge of technology takes me in the future, and I have NPower to thank for that.

Raekwon Ross 27, Plainfield, New Jersey

Before NPower, I was pursuing a career in law enforcement. Being able to provide for my family and community has always been important to me. Looking into jobs that were associated with law enforcement I came across cybersecurity. I expressed my interest to a friend, and she spoke highly about NPower. I was hesitant to join the program, but I am glad I did. NPower not only has given me the foundations to start a tech career but built my confidence, teach me better communication skills, and build relationships. One of my most memorable experiences during NPower is during the in-person Professional Development Day, being able to interact with my fellow classmates on a professional and personal level. I want to thank all the NPower staff for all the support and for all the future success that comes my way.

Isiah Samuel 26, Jersey City, NJ

What led me to the tech path is simple I always loved technology. I am a big gamer and I have been playing since my dad bought a PlayStation 1 and let me pretend, I was playing with him. I chose NPower because I love what it stands for. When I was in college, I didn’t know how to enter the tech world and NPower was the answer. I had a great experience and learned so much and made friendships that I’ll cherish forever. In the future, I see myself as being very successful and I will give back to future techies and Alumni.

When I was younger, I wanted to create my own video games, but as I grew up and experienced the world, I realized that I wanted 2 things, financial freedom and to make the world a better place. I fell in love with the world of tech. Technology to me is the gateway to making science fiction into reality. NPower has guided me and with this education and guidance, I hope to pursue Cybersecurity in my future career. I want to pave a new future by protecting our limitless imagination, and our technology. In my perfect world after NPower, I am pursuing a high-level Cybersecurity role protecting millions of users from malicious people. Something I would tell my younger self is to cherish every waking moment with friends and family because the universe can be cruel and will throw everything at you.

Before NPower, I was already in the field of tech. More specifically the retail aspect of tech. I started as a cashier, then was moved to our service department, and from there I started repairing laptops and PCs. I built hands-on experience but was lacking the tech fundamentals. I wanted to expand my knowledge in tech and eventually leave retail. That’s when I found NPower, a nonprofit 16-week online course that helped with just that. From the start, the program was accommodating and made sure students strived for the stars. Since joining the program in February, I have felt more confident in the knowledge I obtained through NPower. With the help from our Professional Development class and the mentorship program, I am more than ready to take the next big step in my tech career.

I have accrued nearly six years of work and leadership experience during my academic career at Rutgers University, studying Behavioral Neuroscience. Growing up, I was passionate about technology and innovation, but my family hoped I would study science, so I did. While my major was fascinating, I always felt I was in the wrong field. So, I decided to learn and move toward what I wanted, leading me to NPower. NPower is what I call a destiny helper in a time of need. I wanted to learn about tech, but after spending all my years in college studying science, I needed more time to start over. With the help of NPower, I can study what I have always loved as a child without duress and at no cost. My favorite NPower moments are always in the bonds we share in our PM class. We talk, laugh, help each other, and learn.

After high school, I thought of the many ways I could combine what I love and what I’m great at doing, to turn it into a career path I could pursue, but I was unsure of how to make it happen. Until I was granted the opportunity to join NPower’s IT Fundamentals Program. Before joining, I dedicated 6 years to the Hospitality Industry, where I gained leadership skills as well as communication and interpersonal skills. With my passion for IT and my love for hospitality, I am now able to bridge the gap to develop my skill set in Project Management, through NPower. I am thankful to have met so many career-driven individuals through the alumni community. As for my future goal, I’m looking forward to achieving a full-time opportunity to begin my exciting journey by becoming a future Project Manager in the Hospitality Industry.

Prior to NPower, I was working in the medical field as a medical assistant. I left my job as a medical assistant to raise my kids and go back to school for nursing. While in school I decided I no longer wanted to pursue a career in the medical field. I had always had an interest in technology but was not sure where to begin. I first heard about NPower through my husband’s friend who had gone through the program himself and has had great success. I decided to sign up and take the first step to a new career path. If I could tell my younger self one thing it’s to not count myself out, if you work hard, you can achieve anything. NPower has been an extraordinary experience and I am eager for what the future will bring.

When I was a kid, I had a simple aspiration. “I want to be Spider-Man” Unfortunately radioactive spiders came in short supply, so I settled and got a job. My “plan” was to simply work my way up the retail ladder, but I soon discovered this plan wasn’t going to work out well, that’s when I heard of NPower. I started to do some research on NPower and with nothing but raving reviews from previous alumni, I sent out an application. NPower is a great opportunity; I’ve met with so many talented individuals who want the best for you. I’ve learned so much since joining NPower from changing a PSU; to securing a job and I’m excited to see where this journey takes my fellow trainees and me next. I plan to gain more knowledge, delve into cybersecurity, and keep growing. Unless that Spider-Man offer is still up.

Growing up, I realized that technology was a passion that developed within me. The first computer I ever used was a Dell XPS 400 in 2006, and I was amazed by its potential. This fascination only grew with time, and I chose NPower to pursue a career in tech. NPower helps those without a tech background gain the necessary skills and knowledge, with clear and precise guidance from outstanding instructors who offer extra tutoring. They encouraged us to aim high and pursue big goals. I am confident that after completing the program, I will have the technical skills, industry knowledge, and professional network needed to excel in the tech industry. NPower was a vital foundation for me, and I believe it can be for anyone seeking to advance in this field.

Nixon Soglo 26, Willingboro, NJ

I wanted to be a professional soccer player when I grew up. I made it to the college level and had a lot of success there. I was introduced to NPower by a friend and now an alumnus of the program. I first started getting interested in tech at a young age when I got my first iPod touch which led to me wanting to learn more about technology. NPower has provided me with a great opportunity to launch a tech career without worrying about financial stress. I’ve gained an abundance of knowledge and skills from professional development to technical knowledge. My future after NPower looks like me working at a help desk or project management role for a tech company. If I could talk to my younger self, I would tell him to keep growing, keep learning, and trust the process!

Growing up I always had a dream to graduate high school and study psychology or medicine but never technology. My ideas were always to somehow help people. As time passed, I noticed how advanced this world is growing and I wanted to grow with it. I was looking for a path, and a couple of years out of high school with no direction, my sister presented me with an opportunity, NPower. NPower has given me so many opportunities and has handed me all the resources to help me bloom. That’s why NPower is special. They connect with you in a way that makes you feel as though you could accomplish everything. NPower helps you grow and does not leave anybody behind. My favorite part of NPower is meeting so many amazing people who aspire to grow and achieve, just like me.

My name is Joshua Topacio, before NPower, I was stuck on how to break into the tech field. I didn’t know where to go and I felt lost and confused. By joining NPower, I was able to obtain my certifications and move forward with the next chapter in my life, which is advancing further into my tech career. NPower has been a very important experience that I keep close to my heart because I got the opportunity to meet like-minded individuals that I can refer to when I need help as well as long-time friends. In the future after NPower, I hope to be working remotely from another country from the comfort of my computer. For those coming into the program, NPower is a great program to get into if you feel stuck, they really help you take your first step into the tech space, and I highly recommend you join.

My interest in tech began from dismantling old cell phones, but a passion for technology emerged after an NPower program referral. I have had a great experience collaborating with my peers and educators at NPower. The overwhelming sense of positivity and support has motivated me in a favorable direction, allowing me to see my potential in the workforce. I appreciate NPower’s learning experiences and will continue incorporating this knowledge throughout my career. When I was 12 years old, II aspired to live the American dream and become a soldier. Joining the military during my senior year of high school was an experience within itself. As a young girl, I’d help others with technological support. Since NPower, I have expanded my technology skills and made friends I wouldn’t have had without NPower. Being a part of the NPower community has helped me thrive not only with my peers alongside the staff but in my career endeavors. Acquiring soft skills for the corporate setting through the professional development of NPower has set me up for success. NPower has helped me achieve the change in my life I had always wanted but did not know how to achieve. I am excited about my career transition into the tech world thanks to the NPower community and I look forward to paying it forward soon. It has been an honor to be here.

Andre Weber

I left the Navy in 2020, shortly after I found out I was going to be a father. I went straight to work not prioritizing a new career. As life my new life changes settled down, I set time aside to figure out my next career move. As I was looking for career help, someone recommended the NPower program. I have always been intrigued by computers and the internet because they’re integrated into our everyday lives, but I wanted to understand how they worked. NPower sounded like the perfect beginning, to my career in tech. It was overwhelming at first as someone with only a little bit of tech experience. Everything seemed like a foreign language, but everything made more sense as the class went on. I’m very excited to begin my search for an entry-level job to launch my tech career. This is just the beginning and I’m optimistic about the future. A huge thank you to NPower and all the staff!

I was hopping from job to job, trying to find my purpose in life, until a close friend introduced me to NPower. Once I researched the program, I knew it would change my life forever. I love challenging myself and learning new things, and NPower made that happen. Before NPower, I had no prior technical knowledge but week after week the program tested my abilities. NPower aided me in becoming the person my younger self always wanted to be, making me more knowledgeable, professional, and career ready. If I could, I would tell my younger self that it is okay to fail and start over because you are the only one in control of your happiness.
