HUNTING PROGRAMS

Hunters contribute millions of dollars every year towards wildlife management and conservation projects. The NRA, along with 19.3 million American hunters and many conservation organizations, work to preserve the American hunting traditions for future generations. We strongly support every law-abiding American’s privilege to hunt. NRA is the number one organization for hunters in America, and it is our goal to provide you with all the resources you need to continue this long-standing tradition.

The NRA offers exciting training and education programs that will help keep your hunting skills sharp all year long, and ensure you are equipped with what you need to be a better, safer and more responsible hunter. HUNTING PROGRAMS

Hunters For The Hungry Hunter’s For The Hungry is a state-by-state cooperative effort among hunters, sportsmen’s associations, meat processors, state meat inspectors and hunger relief organizations to help feed those in need. Over the past three years, such programs have brought hundreds of thousands of pounds of venison to homeless shelters, soup kitchens and food banks. The NRA supports these state-level efforts through its Hunters for the Hungry Information Clearinghouse. As part of the Association’s Hunter Services Department, the Clearinghouse puts interested individuals in touch with programs in their area and fosters public awareness through education, fundraising and publicity. In addition, the staff of the NRA Hunter Services Department works in the field with state governmental agencies conducting evisceration and meat processing preparation of whitetail deer that are distributed to area food banks, soup kitchens, homeless shelters and needy families. NRA’s efforts help supply thousands of meals to the needy throughout the country.

Hunters For The Hungry programs provide

250 Million hot meals per year to those in need.

Institute For Legislative Action The Institute for Legislative Action (ILA) is the lobbying arm of the NRA. Established in 1975, ILA is committed to preserving the right of all law-abiding individuals to purchase, possess and use firearms for legitimate purposes as guaranteed by the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. ILA’s ability to fight successfully for the rights of America’s law-abiding gun owners directly reflects the support of NRA’s nearly 5 million members—a number that has more than tripled since 1978. When restrictive “gun control” legislation is proposed at the local, state or federal level, NRA members and supporters are alerted and respond with individual letters, faxes, e-mails and calls to their elected representatives to make their views known. As the political arm of NRA, the Institute for Legislative Action (NRA-ILA) has a long history of protecting hunting by sponsoring legislation and referenda promoting hunting opportunities and stopping anti-hunting laws and regulations.

NRA Bylaws Article II, Section 5: To promote hunter safety, and to promote and defend hunting as a shooting sport and as a viable and necessary method of fostering the propagation, growth and conservation, and wise use of our renewable wildlife resources.
