Like another region Indian marriage, most of the traditions are play by the family men, but in Telugu matrimonial, the importance of the women is equal to the men. Women also take part in each wedding ritual. Here I share some facts which make the Telugu wedding stand out. Focus on spirituality The main thing about Telugu wedding which makes it stand out is the spirituality. Telugu people focus on spirituality in the majority as compare to religion only because they believe that Marriage is not only meet the two families, it meets the two individuals and their unite souls. Respect for Women As we know that in Telugu region, Men and women are equal. So women participate in the wedding ritual.

Dazzling Decor Telugu Wedding is a mixture of colors. Each color devoted to spirituality, purity, and happiness. So Telugu Wedding venue is decorated with colorful flowers, lights, and other accessories. Unique Pre-Wedding Traditions Before a wedding day, the bride and groom take a holy bath which is a symbol of pass away of their single lifestyle and headway into married life. The women of the family bath the bride and perform Aarti to remove the evils. On the other side, Groom also takes a holy bath and worships the God Ganesh and then offered a sacred thread. Traditionally the bride comes in mandap in a bamboo basket. The bride dressed gorgeously and is seated in the basket and carried by the maternal uncles and bring to the wedding venue and offered to the groom. The scene can be relished as an old customary fun exercise. Sticky blessings When the bride is settled in the mandap, a curtain is placed between the bride and groom and sits opposite so that they can’t see the face of each other and then the priest chant wedding mantras. At the auspicious mahurat, the bride and groom sit in front of each other, but they can’t see their face due to the curtain and then the stickiest blend of cumin seeds and sweet jaggery is placed into the hands. After that, the curtain between the bride and groom is removed. The Colors of Madhuparkam In this Telugu wedding ritual, Bride wears traditional Red bordered cotton sari and groom wears redbordered cotton dhoti with a neck scarf. This traditional color is a symbol of purity, strength, and passion. After that, the Groom ties a mangal sutra around the neck of the bride and precisely ties it three times. The Three knots represents the union of mentally, physically and spiritually. More stuff on the head It is a fun game where the bride and groom poured the puff rice or pearls to each other’s head where the priest keeps chanting the mantras. The Long Drawn wedding Due to one of the long wedding rituals, this makes a stand out the occasion for family and guest. The Gift of money After completing the wedding ceremonies, family members and guest offered gifts to a newlywed couple in the form of money. Like this, they will help the couple to start a new life.
