Performance Bits
O Ring Snaffles are commonly used by trainers of all disciplines, for everything from starting colts to softening older performance horses. They have a weighted feel for greater sensation during the pickup and release of pressure.
The softer of the two styles. 3/8” diameter, 5” wide and curved to shape the mouth. Inlaid copper promotes salivation and greater sensitivity to the bars.
TWISTED
3/8” x 5” stainless steel twisted wire mouthpiece. Creates greater sensitivity in the mouth. Great for training or softening older horses’ mouths.
The purchase/shank ratio swept back shank design makes this cheek extremely mild. The mouthpiece is inlaid with copper to stimulate salivation and is curved to shape to the corner of the mouth for soft, evenly distributed pressure. Purchase: 2-1/2”, Shank 3-1/2”.
Used for training drills, pleasure riding or competition. The shank is swept back like the 6” model but to a lesser degree, offering more leverage and control. The purchase/shank ratio creates more pressure than the 6” cheek. When properly used and adjusted, it is still considered a mild cheek but with plenty of leverage for control at increased speeds. Purchase: 2-1/2”, Shank 5”.
8’’
Designed for the finished performance horse and tough mouthed older horse where more control is needed. The shank is angled back, but straighter than the 7-1/2” model, causing a quicker response.
Designed for team ropers to train, practice and compete. It features a 7” loose-cheek shank and an assortment of mouthpieces for collection and lateral flexion, giving ropers the control and balance needed for proper horse position and consistent loop delivery.
Rickey recommended using a firm leather curb strap or flat chain with these bits to allow the horse to feel and work off the bit rather than react to the feel and pressure of a biting curb.
DIAMOND
The Sherry Cervi Signature Collection of bits have an excellent feel for quick pickup and release. Mouthpieces are stainless steel and available in many options and degrees of control.

Diamond
This bit is designed to help soften your horse’s mouth and build sensitivity. Use it to soften finished horses and start colts.
Barrel Bits
Barrel Bits
Diamond Short
This is a bit for starting barrel training, or on horses with a sensitive mouth. It is nice and soft, offering complete rate and body lift for turns. 6” shank.
Diamond
This is a bit with a longer shank, so it will give you more leverage to maintain rate and body position in turns with speed. 7-1/2” shank.
SHORT SHANK
“You should always start mild and work your way up only if needed. I recommend starting a colt or charging horse with mild bits to teach them to yield to pressure while building confidence and establishing correct body position. That’s why I start with my smooth D-ring snaffle before anything else, and then move up to the Diamond Draw series.” -Sherry
