GRO INTRODUCTION When thinking about how to design our shading device, we got our initial inspiration from Mashrabiya panels. Upon further research, we came across Dukta Wood. Dukta makes flexible wood products that are utilized in commercial environments and were implemented solely for aesthetic purposes. With our research in mind, we set out to create a dynamic shading device that can be applicable to many different environments and building conditions. We simplified the design as much as possible so we could expedite the fabrication process and create a device that was easier to replicate. We were able to do this by making simple linear cuts across the entire span of the MDF board. We then repeated this process for the other 5 pieces. Coming off of our studio-build project, we were able to make a sturdy frame that accommodated our flexible panels.

ASSEMBLY & MATERIALITY The assembly of our shading device is relatively simple. Constructed out of 2x4’s, these conjoined elements make the frame and interior shelving possible. To give the shading device more depth another layer of 2x4’s was added, creating more surface area for the flexible MDF panels to move back and forth, demonstrating their range.

COMMERCIAL REHABILITATION AND REVITALIZATION REVIT - ENSCAPE - PHOTOSHOP SPRING 2021

PROJECT STATEMENT The ultimate goal of this project is to own, maintain, and operate the Camelot Theater as a community entertainment and meeting space, enhancing the vitality of Main Street Nevada. This will be possible by creating a flexible venue for entertainment and rentals within the current building. This project will revitalize Nevada’s historic theater as an anchor for a vital downtown, community enjoyment and growth and maximize diversity of revenue streams for future finanical sustainability.
OBJECTIVES The main objective of this project is to expand the lobby area for concessions, a new front desk, and snack and wine bar. The space adjacent to the lobby will become a bistro. The bistro will be its own private entity that can be ran seperately or together. The dressing room area at the back of the theater will be updated to accommodate potential performers. The current basement will be reconfigured and finished to house the main bathrooms for the building as well as back-of-house storage.

FACADE UPDATE
To give the exterior of the building a facelift, we looked back at the design of the original facade. The dated stone on the main floor has been replaced with decorative marble slabs that compliment the updated light fixtures. The facade on the second and third floor has been painted to mimic the original design of the building.

CLIENT PROFILE Brett and Heather Alderidge are looking to build a new home for their family. With three growing boys, it is necessary that each has their own private space and that the public spaces are large enough to accommodate the large family. It is important to Heather that there is a guest suite for her mother who visits often. The couple wants a custom home that features many modern amenities while still having a traditional feel.
CONCEPT The focus for this home is on the accomodation for its users. The home’s spacial layout is arranged so that public spaces are kept far from public spaces, while maintaining a simple and functional circulation. Emphasis is implemented throughout to draw attention to one of the many custom elements that this home features.

LOCATION
Located in The Grand Prairie neighborhood in Sioux Falls, SD, the home sits in a private and safe community. The Grand Prairie community is a place of distinctive luxury, comfort, and style. The exceptional property is complemented by exclusive amenities including a clubhouse, two pools, and a golf course. The lot, in particular, is just over an acre, which allows for plenty of outdoor space even after the grand house is built.

CONTINUING CARE RETIREMENT COMMUNITY REVIT - ENSCAPE - PHOTOSHOP FALL 2020
32
PROJECT STATEMENT
This new development will be located on the site of the former Frederick Towne Mall and will encompass a new Continuing Care Retirement Center. The facility will be able to handle independent living, assisted living and nursing home care as well as wellness facilities to accommodate residents. Highlighted features will also include social spaces that will feature a library, dining areas and theater room. This will promote an environment that is not only comfortable but inspires a sense of home. Accomplished through design elements such as interactive spaces that bring in that outdoor natural environments to multiple levels of the community, and taking advantage of natural light and environmental features that soften the built structures around it. LIFE PLANS AT EPOCH
Extensive Care
EPOCH
Conditional
The Extensive Care Life Plan is the most comprehensive offered at Epoch. This plan includes unlimited access to the available care services. These residents will live in the assisted living and memory care building.
The Epoch Life Plan is for those that want to live in the community and enjoy the amenities that do not necessarily need to utilize the care services. Although, when the need arises, the care services are available for them. The residents will reside in the single-family housing and apartments.
The Conditional Life Plan is for those that may need to occasionally use the care services. These residents would mostly live in the independent living apartments.
35
SITE LOCATION The current site is home to the abandoned Frederick Towne Mall. Vacant since 2013, the mall is surrounded by many stores and restaurants. The 86 acre lot is located near great amenities, public transportation, and a residential neighborhood.
CURRENT SITE
PROPOSED SITE PLAN
In the final site plan, the centrally located roads allow for great circulation for pedestrians and vehicles. The central road (North to South) separates the community center (assisted living) from the rest of the community to the East (independent living). The original mall has been replaced with the large central pond and a public restaurant which creates a connection to members of the surrounding community.

CLIENT PROFILE
Jill Wilder is a real estate developer from Kansas City, Kansas. She owns a lot at 8 Lucy Road, Lake Ozark, MO 65049. Jill is looking to build a custom lake house to use at much as possible. She wants the home to have enough room to accomodate at least 5 people, including herself, comfortably. She would like each bedroom to have its own attached bathroom so that her guests don’t have to share bathrooms. Lots of living and entertaining space is a requirement since Jill likes to host lots of guests. She also wants an oversized 3 car attached garage to use for storage in addition to parking. On the exterior of the home Jill wants a boat dock large enough to accomodate her two boats and an in-ground pool. Most importantly, Jill’s budget for the entire project is $750,000.
47
SITE ANALYSIS
The project site located at 8 Lucy Road is a great size for what the client is looking for. Coming in at just under 1/5 of an acre, there is plenty of room for the main house, attached garage, and in-ground pool. Given the lots dimensions, the house needs to be longer rather than wider to ensure the house does not go over the property lines on either side.
SITE MAP 48
CONCEPT
The Wilder property will serve as a weekend home for the owner and many other guests. The home will have contemporary features while still featuring many traditional design elements. The house will showcase the lakefront propery not only in physical elements, but also the interior finishings and furnishings. The high-end materials used and design will create a relaxing interior environment that will be condusive with the natural exterior environment.
