Update to Anti-Smog Traffic Ban in Naples Vehicles of foreign nationals (non-locals) operating within NATO have been exempted from the driving ban imposed by the city of Naples, which covers the entire city and its 30 quarters. The resolution has also been suspended until October 2014, except for the first and third Sunday of each month from 9:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. up until October. The anti-smog resolution is scheduled to be effective from October 2014 to March 2015. It will limit traffic on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. There will also be one Sunday a month scheduled. Summer Day Camp Registration Now Open Summer Day Camp Registration for currently enrolled School Age Care children ages 513 will is now open. Adventure Plus Camp is for 10-13 year-olds, and includes exciting field trips, rock wall climbing, robotics and more fun. Register at the Support Site Youth Center from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Priority 1-4 registration is currently ongoing for civilian employees with a full-time working or student spouse. SAT Course Instructors Needed Teachers are needed to instruct/prepare Naples teens for the upcoming SAT testing in the areas of Critical Thinking and/or Mathematics. Classes run 9 hours for each of the two sections in three, 3-hour increments. If you are interested, please submit resume’, proof of education, 3 professional reference letters and three persona reference letters, dates of availability and any other certificates and/or awards pertinent to the teaching field. May 30: Swim Instructor Assessment for Summer Jobs MWR Aquatics is seeking qualified individuals to fill swim instructor positions this summer. Applicants must have current water safety instructor or similar certification, or equivalent experience. Assessments will be held on Friday, May 30 from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Support Site pool. June 6: USO Open Mic Night at Olde Towne Pub All are welcome to join USO volunteers at the Olde Towne Pub on Capodichino for a night of music, comedy and a chance to share your talent. Requirements include 25 meters each front crawl, back crawl, breast-stroke, elementary backstroke; abandon ship (tower) jump into deep water; prone & supine floats. Each element must be performed to standards as per NETC1552/16. Email an attendance confirmation to deborah.moors@eu.navy.mil one week prior to scheduled test date. June 7: Father-Daughter Dance at Support Site Registration for the Club Beyond Father-Daughter Dance 2014 is open now until May 30. The dance will take place in the Support Site Courtyard by the Chapel on Saturday, June 7 from 7 to 10 p.m. All girls in grades 7-12 are invited to attend. Registration can be done at the USO Support Site office. The attire for the dance is formal with dress uniforms optional for service members. June 7: Single Sailor Snorkeling on Ancient Roman Ruins USO Naples is hosting a snorkeling tour for single and unaccompanied Sailors on Saturday, June 7. The snorkeling tour will be on the ancient Roman ruins in Baia. The tour includes transportation, snorkeling instructor, use of equipment and beach access for a 10 euro signup fee. June 7: Excel American Basketball Club (EABC) Basketball Tournament The EABC will host a 3-on-3 basketball tournament and Hot Shot shooting contest on Saturday, June 7. The event will take place on the outside basketball courts of Naples Elementary School. It’s open to youth ages 11-13, 14–17, 18 and up. Teams may consist of 3 to 5 man teams. June 13: Navy College Programs Graduation Ceremony The Navy College Office in conjunction with the on-base colleges and universities will be holding their Annual Graduation Recognition Ceremony in the Capodichino base theater on June 13 at 10:30 a.m. The ceremony recognizes the completion of college degrees at the University of Maryland University College, Central Texas College and Oklahoma University, as well as external degree institutions. All are invited to attend the ceremony and a reception will follow in the Bella Napoli conference room. The graduation keynote speaker will be Ernie D'Antonio, director of the U.S. Navy's Voluntary Education Programs. June 19: NMCRS Baby Basics Class A monthly class on newborn care and other useful tips for expecting parents is scheduled to be held from 9 a.m. to noon June 19. The class is offered by Navy Marine Corps Relief Society (NMCRS) Visiting Nurses and is open to U.S. military, civilians and NATO ID cardholders.
