Major success for helicopter appeal More FM radio hosts John Markby and Angela ‘Flash’ Gordon broadcast their morning show from the Dargaville Ford car yard last week, spearheading fundraising for the rescue helicopter.
p Dargaville Ford dealer principal Lindsay West, watches as the Ford Mondeo auction unfolds
The appeal raised $46,202, making Dargaville and Ruawai the most generous in Northland. Altogether, over the five MoreFM breakfasts events, $84,607 was raised around the region. From October 2016 till September 2017, the Northland Rescue Helicopter attended to 72 jobs in Dargaville and surrounding areas, as far as Maungaturoto to Kaihu and Pouto to Tangiteroria. Fifty-six of those jobs were during the day and 16 were at night. Dargaville alone had 22 missions. “The money will go towards our busiest months, December through to February,” said NEST general manager
Vanessa Surze. “During that time on average we have five to seven flights a day. “I was speechless. I thought that we had got somewhere around 30,000 dollars but when I found out it was actually over 40, I could not believe it. It just shows the support we have. Thank you for your support. We can’t operate the helicopter without it. Dargaville and surrounding areas can be very proud. Amazing effort.” Dargaville Ford dealer principal Lindsay West said he’s be pleased to see another business host the appeal next year.

‘Business as usual’ before election KDC will continue to be administered by the interim chief executive officer Peter Tynan, who was appointed after the resignation in August of former CEO, Graeme Sibery. “The appointment of a permanent CEO will now be delayed until next March after the election result, to ensure the involvement of the new mayor in that selection process,” Mr Wethey said. “Continuity of council’s works and operations are essential in the ensuing period, and I can assure staff and the wider public that this will in fact be the case.” The council farewelled Mr Gent as his resignation took effect last week, and when he gave a broader indication of why he decided to resign. “Leaving after a year wasn’t my preference but it’s where, for a number of reasons, I found myself, and it was the right thing to do. “Those reasons stay with me because the health and brand of Kaipara comes way ahead of anything else. You are there for the organisation, not for yourself, and that’s why I’ve left.” He had said earlier he will be concentrating on his farming enterprises and a number of high profile directorships. Cr Anna Curnow spoke for others after the farewell, saying: “It’s sad he’s leaving. His announcement that he’s resigning

Tribute to Armistice Day
u by Anna Harding
Members from the Clark, Montgomery, Simpkin and Slade families gathered in Kaipara for Armistice Day to pay tribute to local families who fought on the Western Front. Descendant Robert Montgomery shares his account of the weekend:
Otamatea High School’s deputy principal Dirk Smyth accepted a Woolf Fisher Fellowship recently — one of 15 are awarded to principals and secondary teachers each year, ‘to recognise and reward excellence in education’.
p Members of the Clark, Montgomery, Simpkin and Slade families pay tribute during a church service
p Secretary of Woolf Fisher Trust Dr Nigel Evans, awarding Otamatea High School deputy principal Dirk Smyth with a 2018 Woolf Fisher Fellowship
A passionate supporter of education in New Zealand, the late Sir Woolf Fisher founded the trust in 1960 to advance education through fellowships and scholarships. The fellowship will give Dirk a threeweek study trip to the value of $7,000 or up to $10,000 if accompanied. Countries are suggested by the trustees and the Ministry of Education supports the award by paying the relief teachers employed during the fellowship.
“Dirk is a well respected member of the school who leads teaching and learning as the deputy principal,“ said principal Rachel Clothier-Simmonds. “He will be travelling to Australia and visiting different schools to look at their curriculum design. “We are all very proud of Dirk and are excited to see what ideas he will be bringing back from Australia, that Otamatea High School may benefit from.” ¢

‘Ninety nine years ago, the long shadow of the Western Front reached out across the world to touch the small community of Arapohue near Dargaville. ‘On Armistice Day at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, members of the community gathered to remember the six men from the Clark, Montgomery, Simpkin and Slade families who paid the ultimate sacrifice. ‘Later in the day, about 80 descendants of the late Thomas and Alice Ann Montgomery unveiled a plaque to commemorate the centennial of the sacrifice of their three sons who served near Ypres in Belgium. ‘Henry and Edward were killed in action, while John, like so many others who were wounded, gassed and shell-shocked, returned home but was forever changed. In the evening, members of the families joined a
community service at All Saints church. During the service, each family had an opportunity to share the wartime experiences of their men. For the living, this brought the memory of these men closer. ‘The men were now more than names on a Roll of Honour and somehow, the community felt whole again. ‘Throughout the day, the younger generation took turns at leading processions with the Belgium and New Zealand flags. ‘Others bore the photos of their relatives. ‘The combination of formal and informal activities and conversation stimulated by various displays of wartime experiences and a century of family life, brought everyone together. ‘A day of memories became a day to remember.’ ¢

NORTHLAND Calling all budding chefs RESCUE HELICOPTER u by Anna Harding
2017 APPEAL Awhi atu awhi mai
Lifting the spirits of each other
Northland Rescue Chopper out to raise $200k The 2017 Northland Rescue Helicopter fundraising appeal is underway – with the aim of beating last year’s superb total of $200,000 in public donations. W i t h t h e n e e d s o f t h e c hari t ab l e helicopter service constantly in the limelight - and the extraordinarily busy summer period looming - the timing of the appeal is critical. Paul Ahlers, Chairman of the Northland Emergency Ser vices Trust (NEST ), says funds raised contribute to general operating costs of the much-needed lifesaving service. “Donations help cover the costs of fuel, maintenance, insurance and more. The fact is we need these donations and the Trust continues to be humbled by the support of the Northland community in getting behind their rescue service. The service would not exist without their ongoing support,” says Mr Ahlers. Northland’s world-class air ambulance service is considered one of the most cost-effective operations of its kind in New Zealand. By necessity, it operates on an extremely tight budget and despite contending with an annual funding shortfall close to $1.5 million, continues to help people in their time of need – 24/7. Since 1988, close to 20,000 people have been transported by an array of helicopters in the service’s ever-evolving fleet which now comprises three Sikorsky S76s which fly, on average, close to three times a day, says Mr Ahlers. “Our team continues to be busier than ever with expected annual hours flown likely to hit a record high of more than 1200 hours this year, covering emergency m e dic al mis sio ns f ro m K ai t aia to Auckland and beyond. The annual fundraising campaign is backed by principal sponsors Northpower and Top Energy, who match public donations up to $150,000 – and have been doing so since the first campaign back in 1988. The consumer-owned electricity lines companies have contributed millions of dollars towards helping save lives.
TVNZ’s My Kitchen Rules (MKR), in conjunction with the Dargaville Community Development Board is looking for new contenders to star in the 2018 season. The show is especially looking to showcase teams from Northland and the DCDB is encouraging Dargaville residents to enter, with a grand prize of $100,000.
The show involves six teams cooking for the other contestants and judges in their own kitchens, with local ingredients. After the meals are served, each opposing team and judge rates the meal out of 10. The lowest scoring team then risks elimination. Applications close on Friday, December 1. Only teams of two can apply and if accepted, they will need to be available between the date they applied and Monday, December 11, for an interview. From there, six teams of two will be selected for the show and notified before Christmas. Episodes will be filmed between midFebruary and the end of March 2018. Contestants are required to commit to the filming process for at least 6-8

It may not be the longest course in the country but it will provide lots of questions for these guys and they’ll need to balance length with the ability to hit precise shots into our undulating greens,” said club president, Tony Vale. “Our second hole is rated by a lot of top golfers as being the toughest par 4 in New Zealand, so it’ll be interesting to see how these players handle it.”

It’s the second time the event will run and encourages locals and out of towners to shop local with store specials from 4-7pm. People can then come along to the market to get the rest of it.” The final Maungaturoto market of the year will be the Christmas special on December 1. “It’s going to be a big Christmas market at capacity. We have a popup restaurant with yummy Mexican food and a band called Twilight
Rockers will be playing,” said Terri. The Maungaturoto Christmas Parade is set for December 16 at 5pm and this year’s theme is ‘Broadening Horizons’ which aims to celebrate different cultures within the community with a community concert afterwards and the announcement of the town’s letterbox decorating competition. Correction In last week’s story titled ‘First solo exhibition’, about studio potter Cath Stevens, the end date should have said: The exhibition has 42 clay sculptures and runs until Thursday, November 30. The Muddy Waters Gallery hours are Monday-Friday, 11am-3pm and Saturday 10am-1pm, at 43 Hokianga Road.
Chief executive officer Lisa Tolich said the museum is inviting visitors to take a break from the festive season to explore the festivities on offer at the historic house for the first time ever. Normally only open by appointment, Totara House will be open from December 4 to December 17 between 10am-2pm. “The Friends of the Kauri Museum have been crafting traditional and nontraditional Christmas decorations, and the halls of Totara House will be decked out in all its finery, ably assisted by the students of Matakohe, Paparoa, Ruawai and Tinopai schools,” said Lisa. “Totara house, with its unique collection of family heirlooms and stories, comes alive when visitors arrive and this special Christmas edition will not disappoint.”
All entry proceeds and donations will go towards the Totara House Preservation fund to maintain and provide access to the Heritage two listed building. “We are always on the lookout for opportunities for the house to be made more accessible to the daily visitors who travel to The Kauri Museum as well as the locals who have grown to love it,” said Lisa. Tickets are available from the museum and Totara House at the discounted Christmas rate of $8 per person with children under 16 years, free of charge. A late night opening from 5-8pm will be on offer on December 8 for those who are unable to visit during the day. For more information phone 09 431 7417 or visit kaurimuseum.com. ¢

Christmas inspiration
Senior citizens’ concert

The annual Bows and Bells ‘inspiration for Christmas tour’ will take place on December 2 and 3 to mark the third anniversary of the Mangawhai Museum.
The Dargaville Lion’s are bringing back their Senior Citizens Concert this year, giving residents who are 65 and over an afternoon of free local entertainment.

p Dargaville Lions member Nick Puharich is the only member left who has been in the club since its inception in 1967
Lead organiser Gaylene Lawrence said last year’s event saw over 200 groups visit a number of decorated houses for the event. “This year we have seven locations, three of which are private homes, our sponsor Stylish Homes, two buildings in the Pioneer Village, and the museum foyer which will be decorated,” said Gaylene. “We’ve got a tight group of people that come up with the various themes — we have some extraordinarily creative people in our decorating teams.” Museum volunteers have also been busy crafting and sewing a selection of handmade goods including bunting,
Lions member Nick Puharich is the only one left who has been in the club since its inception in 1967. He remembers the concerts fondly. “They were really good. People thoroughly enjoyed them and they were always pretty well filled.” “In some ways, presumably, it could be construed that this free concert was repayment for the support given to ‘Lionism’ throughout the year, by residents of this area,” said Lions member Terry. Local talent has always featured at the concert and this year is no exception. Nine items are arranged,

featuring orchestras, cultural dancing, choirs, solo artists and individual singers. “Maybe one or two Lions themselves will ‘tread the boards’,” said Terry. The concert is on Sunday, November 26, 1.30pm at the Dalmatian Cultural Hall on Normanby street, Dargaville. Afternoon tea will be served after the concert. Transport is available to and from the concert — ring Warren on 439 7773 or Terry on 439 5025 on or before Friday, November 24. This is only available to those within the borough boundaries. Crowning the Kaipara’s top anglers
STAY AFLOAT
u by Andy Bryenton
Summer has come rolling over the horizon with the weather heating up and once again, keen anglers from far and wide are getting ready for a season of fishing and fun. Next week their skills will be put to the test, as fishing fans come to cast a line in West Coast waters, with the hope of being crowned ‘King of the Kaipara’. The King of the Kaipara event has a long history, and has seen some whoppers caught, some terrific prizes awarded, and a lot of fun had by participants, many of whom return year after year. Based on the Pouto Peninsula at Kelly’s Bay, the huge day of fishing is organised every year by Mike Nola of Dargaville’s Nola Sports. 2017 will be no exception, and with tickets on sale now, Mike is looking forward to a healthy turnout from competitors. Adding to the fun is the generous range of prizes on offer, including fishing equipment and accessories, for exceptional catches of kingfish, kahawai, snapper, gurnard and trevally. There are those, of course, who consider the bragging rights of being crowned King
of the Kaipara the ultimate prize — and others who simply enjoy a great day’s fishing, complete with a tasty seafood dinner afterwards. Participants can enter as an individual or a team and there are specific team prizes. “This competition has a long history in the Kaipara and we have had more interest than ever this year. As organisers we hope that everyone is sensible and enjoys themselves,” said Mike. “It is the camaraderie between the people that helps to make it a successful tournament.” On the water, it’s a wise message of ‘safety first’ which prevails. Those competing should have ample lifejackets on board for the whole crew and carry

a VHF radio or emergency beacon. The Kaipara harbour is famous for its amazing fishing but also for its fastchanging moods and it’s better to be safe than sorry, despite a positive long range forecast for late November and early December. The only true test of the weather will be on the day, and anglers will be hoping for a picture-perfect December 2. Nevertheless, in close to 30 years the King of the Kaipara has only been cancelled twice due to bad weather — that’s the allure of fishing in the North. Anglers can keep in touch with the coastguard radio base on VHF channel 61 and 66 when on the water.

Crowning the Kaipara’s top anglers The contest does not include crossing the harbour bar, thus eliminating one of the more dangerous aspects of navigating the Kaipara Harbour. It’s not even necessary to dip your keel in the Southern Hemisphere’s largest harbour to enjoy the fun. Surfcasters have been included in the action for several years and have often done well when it comes to landing the big fish. This contest is singular in that the organiser, himself a keen and well known local angler, is on hand in the weeks beforehand to help competitors sort out their rods, reels, bait and tackle. Mike Nola is always ready with good advice on the latest in fishing technology and techniques, so a visit to his Dargaville store ia good idea above and beyond buying your tickets. Whether you are an experienced angler or a first-time novice looking for a great day out, the King of the Kaipara is a good opportunity to drop a line and share some ‘big fish’ tall tales afterwards. Tickets are available at Nola Sports, Victoria St, Dargaville. The contest will run from 7am–5pm on Saturday, December 2 and contestants must be in the queue for the weigh in at Kellys Bay by 5.30pm. Managing director of Kaipara Kumara Ltd and NEST ambassador Anthony Blundell, handed over $8,600 on behalf of Ruawai clubs, businesses and individuals. He said more was donated by other Ruawai locals separately, bringing the total raised by the town ‘probably close to

A family legacy u by Joanna Manson
Kaiwaka Jaques Four Square is celebrating 50 years under the iconic Kiwi brand Four Square and has spent the last couple of weeks and this week giving out prizes and store specials to celebrate. Owners Greg and Paula Jaques took on the legacy from Greg’s father Brian who still works in the shop three days a week. The shop was officially opened as a Four Square business on November 29, 1967. “It was a really big deal at the time - back then there was no Pack’n Save and it was quite unusual to have a supermarket with trolleys - something which we take for granted these days,” says Paula. As part of the celebrations the store has given out a spot prize every day with a beach bag filled with groceries. As well as this any shopper who spends over $25 gains an entry to win four x $50 grocery vouchers as well as a TV. But the real celebrations will be saved for the November 25 which Paula says will be a “big day.” “Charlie the Four Square mascot will be visiting Kaiwaka Primary School on Friday to give out fruit to the students. On Saturday there will be face painting outside the shop and a sausage sizzle to mark the 50 years. Frank and Ella Jaques opened the family store in

1924 before handing it down to their five sons. In 1998 Paula and Greg along with his brother Glen and wife Dalleise bought the business from four of the five Jaques Brothers.
Then in September 2014 Greg and Paula brought Glen and Dalleise’s shares and today are the sole owners. Saturday’s festivities will run from 10am to 4pm. ¢

Magic of the markets
A social gathering
u by Anna Harding
u by Anna Harding
Since its beginnings as a organic market in Kaiwaka 17 years ago, the Mangawhai Village Market has become Kaipara’s biggest and busiest market.
After some three years Dargaville’s monthly markets have grown to become a busy social hub where people can grab a bargain, have a chat and a cup of tea.
17
p The Dargaville monthly markets. They are on the first Saturday of every month except in January
p The Mangawhai Village Market in full swing
“It was started by a group of people and when everyone else fell by the wayside it was either close or carry on. So we decided to move it to Mangawhai in 2002 and not call it an organic market, to give us an opportunity to bring in other stall holders. Then it’s gradually grown from that,” said market manager Marita Draper. “Running the market is always a challenge, but it’s nice to meet people. For me it’s a community thing. I want to see people prosper in what they do. “We’ve had one stall holder who’s gone international with her produce.
• • • • • •
Other people have set up shops, having tested out their products at the market.” There are always at least 50 stalls with around 80 over summer offering locally produced foods, plants, art-work and more. “It’s a big attraction for the area. We have people coming from as far as Matakana, Auckland, Dargaville, Ruakaka and beyond.” The Mangawhai Village Market is at the Mangawhai library hall, every Saturday 9am-1pm. Call Marita on 021 598 917 for more information. ¢

Current organiser Lynne Morfett took over running it about two-a-half years ago. “There’s a need for it, as there’s a lot of people who just have a few things to sell but don’t want a garage sale at their home. Also this way you can just sell two or three boxes if you want to.” At the markets you can find a bit of everything — plants, arts and crafts, second-hand goods, baking and fundraiser raffles and sausage sizzles. Lynne said the market has grown over the years, with a record of 19 stalls in September. “I’ve got people ringing to book tables months in
advance — it’s very popular. Now that it’s coming up to Christmas, I’ve got the art and craft people wanting to book tables. “When I’m getting up at 5.30am on a winter’s morning sometimes I think, ‘why am I doing this?’ but when you see the atmosphere, that’s why I do it. “It gives people a sense of community. It’s for the community more than anything.” For stall holders, it’s $5 a table, with tables and a kitchen provided. The markets are on the first Saturday every month, except in January, from 8am-12pm, at the Kaipara Community Centre Hall, 38 Hokianga road. Call Lynne on 09 439 7243. ¢

IT’S NOT A TARGET
Getting out on the water is definitely the theme of the season. As much as Santa Claus, barbecues, beach road trips and fresh-caught fish — boating is part of the traditional Kiwi summer. For the past seven decades — and a little bit more — that has been the story here on the Northern Wairoa River, where the local boating club are preparing for a major milestone. Reaching the ‘platinum jubilee’ mark in 2020, this means that the Northern Wairoa Boating Club has been in action since before our current Queen ascended the throne, and that they’ve seen plenty of summers of boating action. Originally founded as the maritime environment on the river turned from commerce to recreation, the club has embraced change and expansion down the years, and now has its clubrooms right on the riverside in the centre of Dargaville. Those original founders built their own vessels by and large — remember at the time that this was the heartland of a booming boat building trade, so the tools and skills were there for the asking. Built to cruise rather than to haul logs or cargo, this new breed on the river didn’t take long to catch on, and you can bet that it also wasn’t long before this new generation of boaties caught that spirit of friendly competition and organised races. Many of those old vessels have gone, but some from that era remain, with their numbers boosted by a successive generations of boat building technology. Today the Northern Wairoa Boating Club

is home to a wide range of vessels and an equally eclectic crew of locals. But plans are already afoot to make the 75th anniversary something special. That’s why they’re calling on all those who have had family members sail the Northern Wairoa and the Kaipara Harbour to come forward with photos, snippets of history and memories — to help update the book of the club’s past
and plan its future. They’re also seeking those who’d like to be part of that future. New members are actively sought as the fishing and boating season commences, so if you’re new in town and want to take advantage of the club’s facilities, skills, and 75 years of knowledge about the river and harbour, come on down for a cold drink and a chat. They’d love to meet you. ¢

Respect for the open waves u by Andy Bryenton
We’ve talked about how a modern boat can be completely fitted out with all the comforts of home — and of course, when it comes to being set for fishing or diving your options are nearly endless. But with summer beckoning, it pays to run through some pre-launch safety checks, just to be a savvy skipper. Each year our coast guard and rescue helicopter heroes make the same call for simple safety measures. The sea, as any seasoned sailor will tell you, has quickly changing moods and can turn from placid to savage in much less time than it takes to sail for shore. Those basics remain the same, but always bear repeating — make sure that all of your crew have correctly fitting life jackets, that the vessel is equipped with an up-to-date emergency beacon, that there’s a fire extinguisher and a good, reliable anchor on board, and that you
tell a trusted friend or loved one on shore where you’re headed and when to expect your return. A powerful marine CB radio, flares, a first aid kit and some emergency secondary propulsion — oars or a backup outboard — are also on the list. It’s also a good idea to give your vessel a thorough check from bow to stern before hitting the water. Have the engine serviced to prevent unreliable operation. Check the hull for damage, or places where watertightness may have deteriorated. If in doubt, book

in to your local boating specialists for a once-over, just to be on the safe side. It’s been said before, and it’s still very true — you get a WOF for your car on a regular basis, but car’s don’t sink if things go wrong. Pulling up to the side of the road with a blown engine is frustrating, but drifting in open water with no power could lead to disaster. As recent incidents around the country have shown, a good skipper who takes the time to familiarise his crew — even those only out for a day trip — with the basics of nautical safety can make
all the difference between an incident and an accident. A cool-headed hand at the helm has saved many whole parties, and that means knowing your vessel, it’s limits, and being prepared for what the capricious sea might throw at you. A final call from those who are often called on to rescue victims of that capriciousness — boating and drinking mix just as badly as drinking and driving. Save a cold one for back on land, especially if you’re responsible for everyone on board. With a little planning and the right kit, you’ll be ready to have fun and come home safely. ¢

All aboard for fun on the water u by Andy Bryenton
Since the earliest days of settlement on the Kaipara, boats have been at the heart of the region. From fishing to trade, exploration to just plain fun, the Kaipara Harbour — the largest in the Southern Hemisphere — has been both a nautical highway and a source of tasty seafood. Today’s boats bear little resemblance to the hand-built wooden vessels of our ancestors — excepting those which have been lovingly restored of course. And on board you’ll find a swag of new gear to help make every trip both safer and more enjoyable. Electronics play a key role in the outfitting of an up-to-date vessel, and nothing displays this more readily than the technology deployed for both navigation and for finding those elusive big fish. Wireless integration means that the simple fish-finder of yesteryear can now display up-to-the-second sonar based information of a colour screen, even onto a tablet or smartphone. Greater accuracy from these devices means it’s easy to pinpoint just where to drop a hook and make a big catch. Global positioning satellites mean that, while it’s still highly recommended to know how to read a conventional chart, your position on the water and the sites of nearby hazards are at your fingertips and on screen. This could
become a lifesaver if your co-ordinates are needed to effect a rescue in bad conditions, but even on the most leisurely cruise it’s good to be able to plot a safe course using these now ubiquitous eyes in the sky. Vital communications have also been upgraded over the years, with new marine radios now able to offer clearer reception and better coverage. This is not just a safety feature — it also means it’s easier than ever to communicate with others out on the water. And with waterproof speakers, screens and media systems, there’s no reason not to enjoy your favourite fishing tunes while awaiting a bite. You can even watch a movie when it’s time to relax. Modern applications like these — backed up by solar battery chargers and a new generation of longer life, smaller sized batteries — mean that the old world deprivations of a weekend on the water may be a thing of the past. Gas powered or electric fridges, more efficient chemical or bio-cycle toilets,

ATTENTION SEPTIC TANK OWNERS Septic tanks and multi-stage septic systems are delicately balanced environments. It does not take much to upset them. Common practice is to ignore the septic system until problems occur. Good and best economical practice is to always keep your septic system well maintained. A malfunctioning septic system can become a health hazard. When a system is not maintained or operated as a delicately balanced environment, problems occur. These problems include nasty odours, leach line blockages, untreated liquid rising to the surface, toilets gurgling and taking time to empty. At this stage your septic system is a serious health hazard to you and your children. Human waste produces faecal coliform bacteria, a source of viral and bacterial gastroenteritis as well as Hepatitis A debilitatand other diseases. Hepatitis can be a debilitat ing condition and cause long-term harm to children. There are only three remedies. One: stop using the septic system until it recovers. This can take

Save money by keeping your septic system effective and healthy
over a month and is not normally practical. Two: excavate your septic system and relocate it. This is very costly and time consuming, sometimes requiring new resource consents and different systems. Three: treat your septic system with Septi-Cure™ every six months. Septi-Cure is cost effective. By far the most cost effective solution is to pour one litre of Septi-Cure™ down the toilet bowl every six months. This simple action will help keep your system working at top efficiency by reducing solids and scum. Instead of emptying your tank frequently, the reduction in solids and scum saves you expensive pump out costs. Your irrigation field and leach lines will become clear of slimes and blockages so nature can handle the gradual seepage and evaporation for you. When this is happening your system will be operating effectively and not endangering you or your family’s health. What is Septi-Cure™ Septi-Cure™ is a concentrated mixture of selected naturally occurring
microorganisms. These harmless tiny organisms live and multiply by feeding on waste material. When introduced to your septic tank system, they go to work straight away digesting waste material, reducing solids and scum, allowing your septic system to start operating to its maximum efficiency. As they progress through to your irrigation field they feed on the slimes that prevent seepage and evaporation. When seepage and evaporation return to normal, you have reduced the risk of contaminating groundwater and the environment as well as reducing the chances of infection for you and your family. Eventually, they get washed out of the system and have to be replaced to continue their work. This is why you introduce Septi-Cure™ to your septic system every six months for maximum efficiency. Problematic septic tanks – treat with Septi-Cure™. Prevent septic system problems – treat with Septi-Cure™.
A satisfied customer in Hamilton has been using Septi-Cure for over five years. He says this allows them to have an odour free septic tank with low maintenance costs. He also says that his service person is amazed at how well Septi-Cure works, keeping their tank in very good condition. * Results May Vary Before*
