I look forward to seeing the goodness the co-op creates over the coming years.” A search for a new CFO will begin shortly. Fonterra also announced its 2022 Interim Results, which show the co-op has delivered a half year Profit After Tax of NZ$364 million, a Total Group normalised EBIT of NZ$607 million, and a decision to pay an interim dividend of five cents alongside a record high forecast Farmgate Milk Price. Mr Hurrell says the co-op’s results for the first half of the financial year show it is performing well while creating the momentum needed to achieve its 2030 targets. “The world wants nutritious, sustainably produced dairy, and that is what we do well. We have continued to see strong demand for our products across multiple markets at a time of constrained supply. “Our earnings have been achieved at a time when our input costs have been significantly higher with the average cost of milk up almost 30 per cent on the same time last year. “The milk price is also good news for our farmer-owners and the New Zealand economy. A midpoint of NZ$9.60 would see the co-op inject over $14 billion into our local communities through milk price payments alone.”

Chief executive officer Miles Hurrell says Mr Rivers joined Fonterra in 2018 and has played a critical role in resetting the financial health of the co-operative. “It’s been clear from day one, that Marc felt a great sense of responsibility to our farmer-owners, unitholders and also New Zealand’s economy. “Our balance sheet is now in a strong position. We have a long-term strategy with clear targets out to 2030, and our farmer-owners have given the green light on our Flexible Shareholding capital structure. Marc has been instrumental in all of these areas. “We are moving from reset to a new phase of creating value, and Marc has decided that this is a natural point in time for a move. “Marc has agreed to stay until our annual meeting at the end of the year, which will also allow for him to support me in identifying his successor and ensuring a smooth transition and handover.” CFO Marc Rivers says his time with Fonterra has been a privilege. “I have learned a lot and also had the opportunity to be a meaningful part of the lives of many people across our co-op. “We have worked together to rebuild the health and wellbeing of Fonterra, and

Choppers need support

May 2022

New Zealanders are being urged to give generously to the annual Chopper Appeal following last year’s record-breaking figures with more than 9,500 rescue chopper missions flown. The missions included 986 missions in the Waikato-King Country region and 1,239 in the Auckland and Coromandel regions. Waikato Westpac Rescue Helicopter group manager Vanessa Richmond says the public’s generosity has helped the trust keep improving the capabilities of its aircraft and crew. “We rely on donations from the public and are hugely grateful for everyone who’s able to donate. “It is great to see people out exploring our own beautiful country at every opportunity. The crew love what they do, and they love helping their community using their incredible skills to save lives. “Lou Roebuck is incredibly thankful for the Waikato Westpac Rescue Helicopter after a devastating accident on a trip to Tokoroa in October 2020. “On the way back to their motorhome one evening, Lou and her husband Keith were hit by a car at a pedestrian crossing. Tragically, Keith passed away at the scene. “Lou was taken via ambulance to the Tokoroa Emergency Department with lifethreatening injuries and was resuscitated on her arrival. “She was quickly transferred by the Waikato Westpac Rescue Helicopter to Waikato Hospital’s ICU.” Lou still has faint memories of the sound of the helicopter.

The rescue helicopter pilots and crew across the country are tasked with many life-saving missions every day

“Even though I face another 18 months or more of surgery and recovery, thanks to your team, I am alive,” Lou says. Auckland Rescue Helicopter Trust communications manager Lincoln Davies says New Year’s Day could have been the last for Tony Moyes. “Tony suffered a cardiac event 10 metres underwater while diving for crayfish, not far from Opito Bay,” says Mr Davies. “Trying not to panic, he felt he had been kicked in the chest by a horse. With the help of his dive buddy, he made it back to his friends’ yacht, where Tony’s wife, Marianne, called 111. The couple were amazed at how quickly the Westpac Rescue Helicopter arrived at their remote location.” Tony was flown to Waikato Hospital in a critical condition before undergoing heart surgery.

The public’s financial generosity has helped keep the Waikato Westpac Rescue Helicopter and Auckland Rescue Helicopters in the sky

“I am so grateful for the Auckland Westpac Rescue Helicopter helping save my husband’s life,” says Marianne. Westpac staff were out around the country during the annual fundraising street in earlier May. “The rescue helicopter crews are working harder than ever to save lives,” says Westpac NZ chief executive Catherine McGrath. “We know that living is getting more expensive, so every dollar donated is incredibly appreciated. All money donated

in your region goes straight to your local chopper service, so you know that your donation is supporting your community.” There are 15 rescue helicopter trusts nationwide. Westpac funds the marketing and administration costs of the Chopper Appeal, as well as distributing all funds raised back to donors’ local rescue helicopter trust. People wishing to make a donation or find out more information can visit chopperappeal.co.nz.

AN EASY

CAREER CHOICE BY ANN VAN ENGELEN Sam Guise is the farm manager for Kevin and Gillian Monk’s 870-cow farm in Cambridge.

H

e placed third in the farm manager category at the Waikato Dairy Industry Awards earlier this year. Sam placed third in the same category last year and was runner-up in 2020. “My parents worked on a dairy farm in Ashburton, and the farming lifestyle ended up taking us all around the North Island,” says Sam. “I went to college between Katikati and Tauranga Boys’ High School, did work experience on my mum’s husband’s farm and left school at 15 years old and did my first season between their farm and my dad’s farm. “It was an easy career choice for me as I had an easy start helping my parents — I was relief milking from 11 years old.

Like a lot of young people, I didn’t take my work as seriously as I should have and bounced around the place until 10 years ago. I then had an accident and needed major knee surgery, so I left dairy and went ag contract driving. “I settled down with my partner Samantha and landed my first dairy farming 2IC thanks to my previous on-farm experience. Samantha and I have three children and she works at a daycare in town. “I had two years on a good dairy farm in Pirongia and then moved to a farm at Rukuhia as 2IC for two years learning new things. The farms were 800-plus cows until I was made redundant and then landed here with Kevin and Gillian in the 2015–16 season as 2IC.

Sam believes competing in competitions such as the annual Dairy Industry Awards helps farmers improve themselves

“After two seasons, their son, my manager, moved to a sharemilking job, and I was promoted to farm manager. I love it. I love being outside and enjoy the challenges, as well as working with the animals. You meet a lot of people such as farm reps and advisers and build great friendships.

“Moving my way up the ladder has given me a great sense of success, and now I can hand my knowledge down to others and give staff members the chance to work their way up the ladder. “I have been in the industry long enough to see both sides of it, including

good bosses and not so good bosses. I think I am now a pretty decent manager who can train others that are wanting to learn and step up — it doesn’t matter what age they are. “Competing in competitions is good for making you knuckle down with what you are already doing. It makes you stand back and look at the season as a whole and improve on it. “You can pick holes in your own operation, and then the judges give you advice as well. It is an all-round good experience to improve on what you are

doing. There is a lot of encouragement to step out of your boundaries, and it sets a good example for your workers as well. “It shows you have to do a little bit more than float through life, and you need to work toward achieving goals. I studied Primary ITO and have level four and started my level five. “I highly recommend people wanting to try farming to give it a go and those already farming to try the competitions simply to put yourself out there and get your name seen.

Sam Guise grew up in the dairy farming industry and is now sharing his knowledge with other people as a farm manager

“You get to build new relationships, which is great if you don’t have leaders you are already talking to, like vets and feed reps. It is good to seek advice that you may not already have. “Even though I didn’t take out the award, I am still approached by others who saw I was doing it. The qualifications from studying with Primary ITO show you are putting effort in and can help you land a good job. “Life is a funny thing. My grandfather owned a dairy farm when dad was

younger, but no one wanted to be dairy farmers, so they sold, and now most of the family ended up being dairy farmers. “I believe a key feature to running a farm is to always be approachable. The mood of a single person can affect the whole team dynamic with just one encounter. In our team environment, a key strength is communication along with cleanliness. Whether in the dairy shed or out on the farm — cleanliness is key to achieving great results.”

Peter and Angelika help with all aspects of the organic seedling business and orchard

“The aim of organic is to increase the carbon content of the soil to increase soil life and health and therefore produce healthier plants. Through healthy plants, both animal and human health improves. “One part is not using pesticides or herbicides, but it is much more than that. It is trying to mimic an ecosystem by encouraging diversity like pests and insects, so you don’t get pest problems. “We grow our seedlings in potting mix and are very vigilant in the greenhouse and physically remove pests like aphids by hand or use natural sprays like chilli water to control them. “There are restrictions with what you can use even for natural products. You can’t

spray willy nilly as you may take out the pest but damage beneficial insects as well. “We start the seeds in a good balanced, healthy potting mix using Daltons Certified Organic potting mix, and we buy seeds from Kings and Egmont Seeds based on our proven record of germination. “We use a seaweed-based fertiliser from AgriSea based in Paeroa — they also have a bee feed too. The AgriSea System works with your farm or orchard’s entire ecosystem to improve the outcomes for soil, pasture, plant and animal health. “After two weeks, we thin out and transplant the young plants and ensure we have full trays of healthy seedlings for the market. When someone buys a seedling,

The family attend the farmers’ markets from late August as well as supply certain stores and market gardeners with their seedlings

we can advise how to plant it, what to plant it with and in what conditions. “For example, in summer, if you plant coriander, you need the shady part of your garden or in a deep pot on the south side of a tree because some plants are heat sensitive and will bolt into seed if it gets too hot. “Our approach is to raise seedlings that will grow at a particular time of the year. We wouldn’t propagate tomatoes for you to try and raise in your lounge. We try to be as seasonal as possible, and at times, you can’t get certain things because we don’t want our customers to fail in growing. “Our orchard has 40–50 heritage apple trees, limes, lemons, oranges and artichokes. We do well with climbing

and dwarf beans, chillies, tomatoes and eggplants too. “We go to the Thames Market on Saturday and Hamilton Farmers on Sunday during the season and will be back in mid to late August with the seedlings and other produce. “We supply Common Sense Organics in Mt Eden and Milford Auckland, the Thames Organic shop, which is very well established, and a few market gardeners on an ongoing basis. “It can be intense when you have a big workload, but at the same time, it is very peaceful and fulfilling.” Read part two of the Poschl family’s organic story next month.

A FULFILLED COUNTRY LIFE BY ANN VAN ENGELEN

Julia Jones has had a long career in the agriculture sector with roles from currency trading and rural banking, working at the SPCA, and writing a children’s farm animal book.

“W

hen I lived in Auckland, working with the SPCA was important to me because I believe it is good to do something that keeps you grounded,” says Julia. “I am now in Eureka and have just under 10 acres with a few animals. Working for the NZ Stock Exchange means I am always busy, and having a sanctuary to come home to is amazing. “I ended up here because I started wondering if I could buy a lifestyle block

because I have horses. This property came up for auction, and as I have horses, it was perfect. I couldn’t get my finances sorted in time but the auction fell through, and I was able to get my funds together. “It is a big decision going from never owning a rural property to having one, and it can be overwhelming at times. I have travelled the world with work but even owning 10 acres means you have to be prepared when you go away and ensure your animals are cared for.

“I have farming friends I learn from, and my neighbours are amazing and incredibly supportive. I watch when they take the cows off the grass and do the standoff. I follow his lead and value his knowledge. “I ask for advice when I need it but struggle to ask for actual help because I understand how busy everyone is and how precious their hours are. “I think people outside of farming have a romantic version of what owning a lifestyle block will be. I went in with my eyes wide open and still had surprises pop up of things I never expected. “With any property, you are always learning, and I am mindful of what I have

and conscious that I don’t overdo things like having too much stock for the amount of feed.

Julia Jones moved from the city to a lifestyle block to fulfil her desire to have a rural property for herself and her horses

“I had to learn how to put a ballcock on a trough, do fencing and other maintenance because you can’t always get someone in to do stuff. If one wire on a fence breaks — it is best to be able to fix it yourself. “I have a small miniature pony the size of a labrador dog called Landshark. I got him from a friend because I like people to come and enjoy the property, but all my horses were so big, children weren’t comfortable with them. Landshark is really good with children.

“His best friend is a giant thoroughbred named Falcon who came out of Te Akau stud. They stick together, and it is hilarious watching them race around the paddock and playing together. “I have two cattle, one named Otis and the other Brian, and they keep the grass down. I love my animals and wanted to share that with children, and a friend suggested I write a book.” Julia wrote a book about Landshark and his farmyard adventures.

Although Julia’s property is small, she takes pride in ensuring the land is treated right and her animals are well cared for

“In the book, Landshark’s whole world is about learning from everyone on the farm, and it teaches that if you learn, you can do amazing things. I want children to know that learning helps you achieve whatever you want to achieve. “Working in the business ag sector gives me a powerful opportunity to learn from others, and I am conscious that I don’t have a farm but a farmlet. When I have struggles such as drought and

not enough grass, I times it by 10 or, in some cases, 100, and that is what other farmers go through. “The struggles have helped me build my empathy for what other farmers go through. During lockdown, I was able to stop and spend time on my 10 acres, and that was a privilege and something I will never take for granted. It isn’t something I am entitled to have — it is something in my care that helps fulfil my life.”

Finding koi sites

Landowners are being asked to share their knowledge of koi congregation sites in the Waikato region. Waikato Freshwater Biosecurity coordinator Michelle Archer recently provided an update to the Integrated Catchment Management Committee on the council’s and the Department of Conservation’s four-year koi carp programme. The programme has received funding of $250,000 from the council and $488,750 from the Waikato River Authority. In a presentation to the committee, Ms Archer said she was working with key organisations, landowners and stakeholders to understand the locations of koi infestations so contractors could target the sites in spring when koi movements intensify for spawning. “We ask that if anyone knows of any canals or drains or waterways in which these fish congregate, then they let us know,” said Michelle. “Koi control is dependent on understanding the locations of infestations and potentially doing targeted mass removal of this pest fish. One milestone of the project is the completion of the Priority Pest Fish Infrastructure Review, which was presented at the meeting. “The review looked at existing pest fish projects in the Waikato region and listed sites for potential new projects to protect indigenous biodiversity values and existing koi free lakes. “In the next six months, we will be looking at what is needed to install koi barriers at the top three identified sites at Lake Rotomānuka and tributaries to Lake Waahi and Waitomo Stream.” The koi programme has included environmental DNA (eDNA) surveillance

“We ask that if anyone knows of any canals or drains or waterways in which these fish congregate, then they let us know.” – Michelle Archer at key sites in the Waikato region, including Lake Maraetai, Waitomo Caves and Lake Rotoroa, and estimating the biomass of koi carp in the lower Waikato using drones. “Surveillance of koi will continue, including collecting eDNA samples at 12 lakes throughout the region that are visited monthly as part of the council’s routine lakes monitoring,” said Michelle. “These lakes are presumed to be pest fish free, but we have had no formal surveillance recently to confirm whether that is the case. “eDNA sampling is such a valuable tool for understanding the extent of species, as it can detect all species of plants and animals. For example, we had reports of a large orange fish in the Mōkau River with concerns it was koi, but the DNA analysis confirmed it was a large goldfish. “The use of eDNA sampling also helps build a greater understanding of other invasive species, aquatic and terrestrial, throughout the region.” Integrated Catchment Management Committee chair North Stu Husband said koi were an important issue for landowners in river catchments. The immune system (Part two)

Supermarkets are ‘freezing’ prices apparently to help struggling Kiwi families. True relief or public relations spin? is vexing. To make that sort of profit, they pay their frontline staff and suppliers amounts which, in my opinion, are very low when weighed against executive salaries and dividends to shareholders. Progressive is Australian-owned, so those profits don’t even stay in New Zealand. When buying groceries in Australia, you are not paying GST on fresh fruit and vegetables. In fact, most fresh products that are Australian produced don’t attract GST. So the government over there got something right. If you were to ask any farmer across the country what they are paid at the gate, it bears no relevance to what is charged at the till. More competition would be ideal — the duopoly needs to go.

Stay home if you’re sick

Let’s say a virus has penetrated your Non-Specific immune defences, see the last edition, and starts to infect cells. Sitting, waiting for such an attack is your specific immune system that can create a devastating attack against the virus. However, this part of your immune system has a significant shortcoming. Initially, it does not recognise the attacker and needs to be ‘trained’ to identify and attack the virus. Antibodies are proteins made by the immune B cells that bind to an invader marking it for destruction by T cells. Natural immunity is based on the immune system’s ability (activated B cells) to produce antibodies that will both fight a current infection and a return of the same pathogen. Artificial immunity is from vaccines that trigger B cells to make antibodies to provoke a rapid T cell response against a first infection against a virus. It means your immune system is already primed, waiting for exposure and can launch a much faster, more aggressive response against the virus. In the last edition, we saw that our Non-Specific immunity is greatly

influenced by nutrients. The same is true for our Specific immunity. Vitamin D acts like a master commander of your immune defences. Dr Anthony Fauci, who leads the US health Covid response recommends supplementing with 4,000IU of vitamin D daily to help immune responses. It is also important to make sure you have optimal levels of antioxidants, vitamins and trace minerals, especially selenium and zinc. These help prevent damage from both the infection and the immune responses. Many of these are antioxidants that protect the immune system and help prevent unwanted inflammation. Minerals such as selenium and zinc are very important. John Arts (B.Soc.Sci, Dip Tch, Adv. Dip.Nut.Med) is a nutritional medicine practitioner and founder of Abundant Health Ltd. Is it really a price freeze? Progressive Enterprises announced a ‘freeze’ on the prices of more than 500 items. While they branded these as essentials, the list included cotton buds, potato chips, many varieties of herbs and spices, lollies and wine. I don’t know about you but what would help me would be the staples, like meat, fruit, vegetables, bread and dairy products. Surprise, surprise, rivals Foodstuffs hit back with a rollback of prices to 2021 levels on a shorter list of items, but making deeper cost cuts. Once again, the list was light on fresh meat, fish and vegetables. The cost of living is so high, and reading that companies like this (which are the only major places we can get groceries) made a $430 million annual excess profit

The wartime tractor ‘invasion’

When wartime machinery shortages struck and foreign trade was cut by the war at sea, a lend-lease deal with the United States delivered fresh ideas and equipment to New Zealand farms. One important change made by the lend-lease programme was the supply of considerable quantities of mechanical equipment for farms. For example, more than 7,000 farm tractors were supplied in the years 1943 to 1945 by US factories. Some idea of the significance of the lendlease deal can be gathered from the fact that, in 1940, there were only about 11,000 tractors on New Zealand farms. By the second world war’s end, there were close to double that number, with US models predominating. Tractors proliferated so quickly that the Transport (Farmer’s Tractor) Emergency Order of 1942 had to be rushed through parliament, making it unnecessary to pay registration for driving a tractor on the road. In fuel-rationed times, farmers often used their new tractors for everything from ploughing fields to mowing hay to driving goods to market. Some children of that era remember the tractor replacing the family car altogether. A classic tractor from the lend-lease era was the John Deere model A, which

Tough and simple to maintain, many of the classic tractors sent during the second world war are still functional around New Zealand

debuted in the US as a row crop tractor, but was also available in orchard and fixed-tread forms. Farmers in New Zealand were keen that this was the first Deere with rubber tyres as standard, perfect for taking advantage of that emergency

order. Typical of its type, it ran a five-litre all-fuel engine developing a maximum of 24-horsepower at the PTO. Its relatively light weight of 1,720kg made it excellent for traversing muddy fields. Its opposite number was the Farmall model A, another small, by modern standards, tractor from Louisville, Kentucky, that punched above its weight on Kiwi farms. The Farmall is still the classic tractor shape drawn by small children in primary school. Its 1.9-litre engine delivered more torque than people thought possible at the time from such a compact unit.

Machines like these finally ushered out the steam and horse-drawn machinery era on New Zealand farms. It was an age that had lingered longer here than in the more industrialised northern hemisphere due to our relative isolation. The trade-off for our allies in wartime was increased food production, which went to feed the sailors, marines, soldiers and pilots of the Pacific theatre. After the end of hostilities, the extra efficiency tractors delivered was part of the farming boom that enriched rural New Zealand.

TracMap makes for smarter farming

The agricultural sector is the mainstay of the rural New Zealand economy, and any change in its structure is likely to have an impact on the running of farms. From July 1 2021, new regulations were introduced, placing strict limits on the application of synthetic nitrogen on grazed pastures. It has placed additional pressure on farmers to ensure that their fertiliser applications are accurately tracked and recorded so they can maximise pasture growth throughout the season without

Fish friendly pump

May 2022

17

The fish-friendly pump installed at the Mangawhero pump station marks a milestone in the fish passage journey. While the Waikato Regional Council staff tested the new pump in operation, tuna were sighted going through the enclosed Archimedes screw pump at the station near Aka Aka, north Waikato. “The instalment of the pump marks a massive milestone towards managing fish passage in New Zealand waterways as required by the National Policy Statement for Freshwater 2020,” says Pathways to the Sea Project manager Michelle White. “During the successful test run, several tuna went through the pump and pump station outlet, making it to the other side safe and sound. “The council acknowledges the need for more sustainable use and management of our flood protection scheme assets. This pump is the start of our mission to provide native fish with safe passage to the sea for spawning. “The council will be testing the enclosed Archimedes to see how successfully it passes New Zealand native fish species as part of its research into minimising fish mortality through pump stations.” The pump has been sourced from the Netherlands and is the first of its kind in New Zealand. In Europe, enclosed Archimedes screw pumps have proven to be 100 per cent fish friendly. “We are looking to see how this kind of pump works with our native eels and if we get the same results. “We will be looking at whether tuna avoid the pump, what size tuna are passing through

Michelle White, Pathways to the Sea Project manager

and assessing to see if there is any injury or mortality as a result of tuna passing through.” The monitoring will take place during the migration season in 2023. Integrated Catchment Management chair (North) Stu Husband says the pump has benefits other than safe fish passage. “It operates to support drainage in the catchment and to transfer water during high rainfall events,” says Cr Husband. “It rotates very slowly and delivers high efficiency so is cheaper to run, and it is a simple design that won’t require much maintenance.” A second site where an enclosed Archimedes screw pump will be installed is Churchill East pump station, near Te Kauwhata. Waikato Regional Council received $4.48 million from funds administered by the government’s Regional Economic Development Unit, Kanoa – RDU, to support the upgrade of up to five pump stations in the Waikato to enable safe fish passage. Other sites are still being assessed for suitability.

The fish-friendly Archimedes screw pump was tested by Waikato Regional Council staff who sighted tuna travelling through machine

All that jazz

by Andy Bryenton

Honda’s latest electric hybrid vehicle comes with some new energy-saving tricks up its sleeve and a new tongue-twisting acronym to remember; e:HEV. It might just be worth remembering this collection of letters, as the designation stands for a fresh look at the hybrid concept, as tried, tested and proven by Hondas that have gone before and as the ubiquitous Toyota Prius. Honda’s Jazz e:HEV luxe performs a similar juggling act to their CR-Z, perhaps the most fun to drive hybrid of the first generation. With a 1.5-litre petrol engine and a brace of electric motors; it can deliver a massive range without fear of battery drain, and the kick of instant torque. However, it goes about making that power and laying it down in a very different fashion to the CR-Z or the Insight, Honda’s other early hybrid effort. In the new Jazz, the petrol engine is most often employed to charge the batteries, with smooth electric power delivery predominating. It extends the range vastly over battery-only machines. Moreover, because the petrol motor is only driving a generator and not trying to accelerate an entire car along the tarmac — it’s superbly efficient. The upshot is that the Jazz e:HEV uses petrol, but only in the same way as a hummingbird sips nectar. Figures of 2.4 litres for every 100 kilometres are talked about in the promotional materials, as the little Jazz also applies everything Honda has learned about regenerative braking and

Honda’s latest Jazz combines hybrid efficiency with a new way of handling electrical power and petrol economy

kinetic energy recovery. At current prices, this could take you from Northland to Auckland for approximately $8, and that’s a bargain worth considering. Another bargain is the price in comparison to battery-only vehicles. The government will pay you just over $4,000 for choosing the Jazz e:HEV, and it’s

only $35,000 brand new to begin with. That puts it on the radar of real Kiwis, who don’t have the budget of a Formula One team or a portfolio of mansions. Everything else Honda could think of is included, and that, from a firm that makes jet planes and robots, is a lot of safety features, connectivity and toys.

It even looks quite endearing, with an interesting two-tone interior. Although it’s a city hatchback and not a slick coupe, you can at least say it’s a hybrid from the stable of the NSX. If you’re in the market for a family car and really, honestly don’t need an SUV, then this could be the new front runner.

This gutsy specimen is now available for order at Ebbett Toyota. With a beefed up 2.8-litre turbodiesel engine, 3500kg max braked tow rating and all the bells and whistles you need on the inside we suggest you book a test drive to feel the power for yourself.

WAIKATO FaRMING LIFESTyLES ADVERTORIAL

It all starts with an accurate farm map. Do you have one? GPSit has been mapping the land you love since 2001. “An accurate map is also the foundation for building an effective Farm Environment Plan, a requirement for most New Zealand farms heading into 2025. Maps are used in farm environment plans to help visualise management systems and contamination risks on the farm before taking mitigation actions. “Slopes, soils, blocks, waterways and riparian areas are some of the key elements that may be required on your map to comply. Let us set you up for success to ensure your Farm Environment Plan is accurate from the start. “We can add specific items to your farm map that identify risks, critical farm system considerations, or potential improvement opportunities. Whatever your mapping needs, we customise our maps to suit you. “We have helped thousands of people throughout New Zealand manage their land more effectively with our customised maps and GIS solutions. “What are you waiting for?
