The Wairarapa Farming Lifestyles is published with pride by NorthSouth Multi Media Ltd, a privately owned New Zealand company.

With multiple sources of infection emerging as this edition goes to press, the spread of myrtle rust is alarming biosecurity and movement controls are in place as the battle against the fungal disease moves into high gear.

The scourge was first found in Kerikeri early in May, and two weeks later, it was discovered in Taranaki. Now Waikato has come under the spotlight after myrtle rust was found in a Te Kuiti nursery. The windborne spores mean New Zealand may have to live with an ongoing threat to the myrtle family of plants which include pohutukawa and manuka. Thought to have arrived on winds from across the Tasman, the disease is likely to affect some of our iconic native plants as well as commercially-grown species. Testing by the Ministry for Primary Industries confirmed rust infection at a plant nursery in Waitara had spread to four other sites in the province. MPI’s Myrtle Rust Response Incident Controller David Yard says that, as with the nursery in Kerikeri, movement controls have been placed on other properties involved. No movements of plants or other risk materials are permitted off the sites and the locations have been treated with fungicide and inspected out to 500m from the infection sites “The earlier we locate a new infection, the greater the chance of doing something about it. We’ll be throwing everything at it to attempt to control it, but we are realistic that it is a huge challenge, given how readily the spores spread by the wind.” Mr Yard says finding myrtle rust in a new region could be the sign that we will need to learn to live with this fungal plant disease. Myrtle rust infects plants in the myrtle family including pohutukawa, rata, and manuka as well as some production species including feijoa and eucalypts. There are two main reasons why the rust has been seen first in nurseries. Growing conditions there are ideal for the fungus with many vulnerable young plants in sheltered, warm and damp environments. In addition, there has

Keep an eye out for Myrtle Rust

been a large amount of communication with the nursery industry and growers have been particularly vigilant in checking their plants. “While we are unlikely to ever know exactly how myrtle rust arrived in New Zealand, the most likely entry route remains being carried here on the wind from Australia where the infection is widespread,” Mr Yard says. The Ministry will once again partner with the Department of Conservation, local iwi, local authorities and the plant production industries in on-theground management. Members of the public who believe they have seen signs of myrtle rust are advised: • do not touch it, or the plant • take a photo of the rust and the plant • call MPI’s Exotic Pest and Disease Hotline on 0800 80 99 66.

Tracking animal evaluation To provide practical, farmer based feedback on animal evaluation research, development, and communication, New Zealand Animal Evaluation (NZAEL), a subsidiary of DairyNZ, has established a new farmer advisory panel. The aim of this panel is to create a forum for two-way discussion between farmers, researchers and the NZAEL team, and to assist NZAEL in identifying practical issues that could be implemented as part of the strategy. “It is vitally important for farmers to be involved in genetic evaluation development,” says Dr Jeremy Bryant, NZAEL manager. “The perspective and experience of farmers is invaluable when it comes to enhancing the animal evaluation system. “The six farmers on the panel have farming businesses that are representative of a range of New Zealand farming systems. They are advocates of genetic improvement and will meet about five times a year to give their practical views on research and development being proposed or undertaken by NZAEL and DairyNZ researchers.” There are currently two key areas that the panel is providing feedback on. The first is a project focussed on reducing the ‘reproof bias’ in AE enrolled sires (read more at dairynz.co.nz/reproof) and the second is a mid-term review of the economic models that are used to generate breeding worth. The review will commence in spring 2017, and the panel along with other stakeholders will be involved in providing views on the key focus areas. “DairyNZ invests a significant amount of farmers’ levy

money in NZAEL each year, and it is critical that we look to maximise value to farmers — getting more direct farmer input is one important way to do that,” says Bruce Thorrold, DairyNZ strategy and investment leader productivity. In addition to working closely with the panel, NZAEL values feedback from all New Zealand dairy farmers and will continue to consult the industry on big changes and developments via breeding company meetings, user group

WAIRARAPA FARMING LIFESTYLES

COUNTRY LIFESTYLE SUCCESS by Ann Morgan Julian Bateson and Sue Shore’s journey towards a life lived the environmentally conscious way became a reality when they moved from the United Kingdom to New Zealand in the late 1990’s.

“I

worked in conservation in the UK for more than 20 years and we visited New Zealand a few times on vacation and thought here would be a great place to live. When my job was restructured we decided it was a good opportunity to relocate,” says Julian. Julian has a science background with a degree in biology and a masters in environmental resources and Sue was a teacher in technology. They wanted a property up above the river and away from hillsides that could erode in time and purchased their 18ha hillside property named Kintyre, near the Tararua Forest Park in the beginning of 2010. “I spent a lot of time in my younger years in Kintyre, Scotland, and a lot of the land around our property here is owned by the Campbell family who

came from Scotland 150 years ago. We decided Kintyre fits as a name for this property as it is such a beautiful place. “We have a small house and an outbuilding which works well for Sue to have an art studio, and space so I can work on my old Land Rover. “The house was solar powered when we purchased it and we can’t plug into the mains at all. We have upgraded the technology and built a small hydropower system which ‘fills the gaps’ on dull days. “Living off the grid means we monitor our energy use and are a lot more aware of the power you use. If more people had solar they would realise how much energy just uploading one photograph takes.” Julian says they didn’t realise how difficult it would be to grow things due to the wind factor in the area.

“It has plenty of native bush but sometimes the wind seems to blow in every direction at the same time and we have added shelter and wind netting for the vegetables and fruit trees as the wind shreds the leaves.” They don’t run stock on the property, other than chickens and bees, and decided to expand the forestry woodlots, nurture fruit and let the native trees on the land regenerate and they have vegetable gardens in sheltered sheds and greenhouses. “I planted half a dozen olive trees but they are hardly growing so we won’t continue trying. We don’t fight things that naturally won’t grow in the environment here. The fact manuka and kanuka grow is great and we let other natives grow amongst them. “The previous owners planted macrocarpa for shelter but these trees prefer a warmer, drier climate and are susceptible to canker disease so there’s no point continuing to try and grow them as it is very wet and a waste of time and resources. “You can be misadvised by some people who say something will grow, but if they are not supposed to grow in a wet climate, they won’t.” Julian says to buy bigger native trees when you plant as they are more likely to survive and he protects his trees against deer damage by putting netting or fencing around each tree when they are small.

May 2017

The property is off the grid, up above the river and away from hillsides that could erode in time

“Deer love nibbling on the foliage and scratching their antlers against trees which can be devastating,” says Julian. Julian edits a publication for the NZ Farm Forestry Association and also the Indigena magazine — a specialist magazine for native tree growers. “I have worked closely with tree expert and author John Wardle and very much believe in selective harvesting of trees which I have seen work well prior to moving to New Zealand.

“You remove selected trees and let them regenerate. John has proved it can be successful here and can be a way of the future. In other parts of the world they do it this way as they can’t fell all the trees at once on a hillside and it is much more healthy for the environment. “We do a lot of pest control using box traps I designed for rats and stoats. The more we catch means there are more out there, however, we are noticing a distinct increase in tui and bellbirds on

the property. “We constantly need to keep up pest control as it is important for the future and the bird life is a good indicator that we are having success.” The couple won the Greater Wellington Regional Council Akura Conservation Centre Small Block/Lifestyle Award at the annual Ballance Farm Environment Awards. The award acknowledges the significant contribution of small and lifestyle block holders to sustainable outcomes in the region.

by Ann Morgan Stuart Williams and friends, Rex and Ian Alexander, founded the Auckland Romney Development Group in 1968, hoping to improve the issues sheep farmers were having with facial eczema, along with the overall performance of the breed.

T

he men, and other farmers who joined the quest, contributed 1% of their breeding flocks to a central flock run by Rex Alexander for genetic development purposes. The group is now called Advanced Romney Designer Genetics (ARDG) and Jenny Savannah and her husband Adrian have taken over the role from her father Stuart, as have Rex and Ian’s children on their farms along with the Steeds and Marchants families, that comprise the rest of the ARDG. “In that first year, the mixed age flock lambed 154% and the following year Rex lost 52% of that flock to facial eczema,” said Jenny. The first field trials for FE testing were set up in 1979. Animals were tested under a natural challenge and in 1984

the first sporidesmin testing took place on rams. The testing rate started at 0.1mg/kg and the group now tests at the highest level available 0.65mg/kg. The sheep are dosed with the concentrated facial eczema spore toxin and bled at 21 days to see what the GGT levels are. This measures liver damage. The programme is provided by Ramguard Facial Eczema Tolerance Testing Services, and the ARDG are FE Gold accredited having met the rigorous requirements and testing history to be members. “Last year was a good example of how far we have come with improvements. There were huge spore counts in the North Island and areas not previously at risk of FE. Very few animals bred from our rams had FE. Back in the 70s it would have killed at

least half of the flocks. “Facial eczema has been the biggest trait we focussed on because it is no good having high growth or fertility rates if your animals are going to die anyway. Survival is our number one priority, that is why the project began. In the early 70s farmers were losing up to 40% of their flock. “Dad and the Alexander brothers were like-minded guys who thought they could do something about the problem that they believed was hereditary — science now shows it is a highly heritable trait. “With climate change, FE is spreading across the country. Those buying our rams have realised that their lambs are going to be tolerant, which is a good thing,” said Jenny. “We have also been worm resilience and resistance testing for more than 17 years. Animals are individually faecalegg tested and put through a growth rate versus worm burden test. “We also test for genetic traits needed in a versatile sheep, reproduction, growth, survival and meat, and we record fleece weight. “Wool weight is a genetic trait and we have made good gains in weights and qualities. “If you have to shear the sheep, you may as well get as much as you can for it.” Jenny says that although there has been a 26% decrease in sheep in New Zealand since 2005, we still export a similar quantity of lamb, testimony to the improved performance of New Zealand’s flocks. “We couldn’t have done this without everyone involved,

es Cours ! g soon startin oday re t Enqui info@ z hi.ac.n tarata

Sheep are tested for worm resilience and resistance and fleece weights are recorded

from the scientists, to the companies supporting us. “There are still farmers who don’t have as much FE and think they will be fine, but the predictions are most sheep farms in New Zealand will eventually be affected in some way. “Not many ram breeders have the same FE tolerance that we have. Potentially the only sheep alive in the future could be the FE tolerant. “We have technology and help that our fathers didn’t have. My dad had more than 1,000 recorded ewes to get the result we now get with 400. “We have equipment such as automatic drafters that capture data, so what took our dads a whole day, can now

be done in a couple of hours, along with DNA testing provided by Zoetis, which gives us a huge amount of information to select from. “From 1970 until now, to have the huge improvement in FE tolerance over so few generations is incredible.” The ARDG started their testing process completely blind and didn’t know if what they wanted to achieve was going to work. “They had to have faith in what the scientists said. They embraced the knowledge and advice and it paid off more than they thought it would.” For more information about the ARDG visit ardg.co.nz.

For those of us in rural areas, it’s a good idea to have power on demand. On the farm, where broken machinery costs in time and profits, knowing who to call to replace that tyre or fix that broken implement is even more vital. With calving season on the way having a reliable quad bike or UTV in the shed and a reliable livestock vet on call is of paramount importance. Downtime at any other time of the year, such as during silage cutting or maize planting is costly and annoying, but it can be a matter of life and death on a cold winter’s morning during calving. Talk to the machinery and vehicle pros now to ensure first-time starts when the pressure is on. The other aspect of weathering the knocks of day-to-day life is insurance — because major disasters around the home are quickly made to disappear by a good insurance company. With so many variables, it’s important to tailor a policy that fits your lifestyle. Remember — many things are fully covered by insurance, which you may not expect. An example — if an unsightly stain mars your carpet and can’t be shifted by commercial cleaners, your insurance may very well cover replacing the carpet for that entire room. The trick here is to have seasoned experts match the colour, pattern and orientation as best as possible — and to ask for advice before deploying home cleaning alternatives. Talk to an insurance broker about the best value for full coverage before disaster strikes, and you’ll be sure that help is at the end of the phone no matter what. Living in rural New Zealand comes with a huge amount of bonuses — wonderful scenery, clean air, the outdoors life and strong communities. But the trade off can be isolation from the services and trades that city dwellers take for

Thankfully, we have plenty of mobile professionals who are ready to jump into the ute, load up the digger or pack tools into the van to see things right. These pages provide a handy directory of such professionals in the North, ready to swing into action when help’s needed. With forward planning and a knowledge of who to call, even the most unexpected problems can be chopped down to size. After all, without the stress it’s hardly a disaster at all!

Assisting with finances Wairarapa Building Society traces its history back to 1873 and came into being when our forefathers did some thinking to solve a common problem – financing a home. It made a lot of sense then and still does today. If local residents collectively pooled their funds, they could create a locally focussed banking organisation from which residents could borrow — community banking had arrived. Wairarapa Building Society is the Wairarapa’s only locally owned and operated financial services organisation and proudly offers savings, investments and mortgages, and we have a comprehensive range of finance options for residential, rural and commercial property. Borrowing and investing with us means returning the majority of our income back into the Wairarapa through employment, purchasing, sponsorship of local sports groups, community events and various organisations such as Lifeflight, and customers have the opportunity to have free use of our ‘giant inflatable obstacle course’. Our point of difference is that you will talk to the person who can make the decision about your enquiry on the spot. There is no waiting for ‘head office’ to offer approvals — we are head office!

Your mortgage will probably be the biggest financial commitment you will ever make and there are many types to choose from. Some careful planning is necessary and we have some information and tips to help get you started on the path to homeownership, and becoming mortgage free. Call us or come in and talk about the options available to you when mortgaging your home through WBS. Fit for transport animal welfare app launched A mobile app that helps farmers, transporters, stock agents and veterinarians determine whether an animal is fit for transport has been launched by the Ministry of Primary Industries.

The ‘fit for transport’ app helps determine whether an animal is fit to be transported

The app is an easy and efficient tool to help people make the right decision for the welfare of animals and was developed by with the industry and vets. It consolidates available information into one place and doesn’t require internet access, which makes it suitable for onfarm use. Director of Verification Services, Dr Chris Kebbell says most people in the primary sectors are well aware of the fitness for transport requirements, but MPI veterinarians at processing plants still see some animals arrive that should not have been transported. “Animal welfare is everyone’s responsibility and farmers, transporters, stock agents and veterinarians all have a role to play in ensuring only fit animals are transported. “The information in the app is based on the transport requirements in the codes of welfare for dairy cattle, deer, sheep

and beef cattle.” Developed under MPI’s Safeguarding our Animals, Safeguarding our Reputation Programme, the app is a tool to improve voluntary compliance with animal welfare requirements. “One of the ways we achieve this is through the development of resources to support owners and people in charge of animals. “There has been demand for this tool and many are excited that it’s now available. We’ve had great feedback so far,” says Dr Kebbell. The app also contains the requirements for the recently implemented regulations for young calves. New fitness for transport regulations are currently under development and the app will be updated once they are implemented. To download the app, head to iTunes (for Apple devices) or Google Play (for Android devices) and search ‘fit for transport.’

Should I take Coenzyme Q10? Part 2 Most people make all the Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) they need. Some however should take extra as a supplement. CoQ10 is made in your liver from the same enzyme that makes cholesterol. This is why drugs that reduce cholesterol can restrict CoQ10 by as much as 50%. This can reduce the amount of energy made especially in organs and muscles and is why I recommend people on cholesterol medication take 100–200mg of rapid absorption CoQsol® each day. I recently spoke to a client who had experienced a lot of muscle pain and stiffness while on statins. After just a week on CoQ10 the pain had completely gone. I generally find it takes 1–2 months to restore muscle function and energy. What makes CoQ10 so special is its ability to carry electrons. This enables CoQ10 to move hydrogen electrons within your cell mitochondria to make energy molecules called ATP. This ATP is how your body works. Inadequate CoQ10 levels reduce energy output and this is felt as tiredness and often as muscle weakness.

Scenic highlights include the Reefton Saddle and Buller Gorge, Caroline Bay and Blueskin Bay, Milford Sound Cruise and the Taieri Gorge. Free time available for optional sightseeing with two night stays in Greymouth, Queenstown, Invercargill and Dunedin. From East to West, an experience with the Best! Phone for further information.

Twilight Travel & Tours | 0800 999 887 | www.twilighttravel.co.nz A broker of the Travel Managers Group – IATA Accredited and Bonded.

This ability to carry electrons also makes CoQ10 an excellent antioxidant. It can donate to free radicals their missing electrons preventing them from stealing electrons leading to cell and tissue damage. In particular it protects circulating LDL cholesterol from being damaged by free radicals. This is the first step in the process of forming plaques that block arteries. There is some good research suggesting increasing CoQ10 can be helpful for people with neurodegenerative problems such as Parkinson’s. I will generally add additional CoQ10 either as the patented CoQsol® or my specialised MTQ10. Most people feel a real difference within 1–2 months. Give me a call if you need more information. DAIRY

Uncommon sense

David Law, Managing Director of Forward Farming Consultancy

Brainwashed Ministry for the Environment and statistics NZ recently released a damning report showing increasing nitrogen and phosphorus in a percentage of NZ rivers. Surprise surprise! The clean rivers plan, which is sweeping the country, is to drastically reduce nitrogen applications on farm, based on historical data. For farmers hell-bent on trying to mitigate too many changes in management in future will be looking at management now to alter that data. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to deduct that one such tool would be to drastically increase nitrogen use now therefore boosting historical data, which will be used to determine their future allocation. This whole scandal has arisen because farmers have been brainwashed into thinking that

urea grows grass and that profitability will drop correspondingly as that nitrogen is reduced. This new environmental report is calling for a drastic reduction in cow numbers, which would be akin to the idea of drastically reducing cars to cut the road toll! Some common sense is needed here, and I would hate to see people with this line of thinking being able to determine the direction of our farming future. It sickens me to see that the culprits of this whole problem of excess nitrates and phosphorus in our rivers have never been called to account.

I am not talking about farmers here, although they are the ones copping the flak. I am talking about the major NPK fertiliser companies who sell 90% of the phosphorus and nitrogen in NZ and have been for the past 20-plus years. NZ farmers have been brainwashed into thinking that all this phosphate and nitrogen is needed to be profitable. Have these environmental alarmists ever stopped to think that these major fertiliser companies have become billion dollar industries from propaganda to push the sales of the very products these guys make. They have assumed the responsibility to educate students attending NZ educational institutions into the NPK propaganda machine who then go out and advise farmers to push it on. The sooner the proponents of environmental improvement refocus on the cause, the faster these challenges will be achieved. There are great changes beginning where farmers are utilising real science rather than following the NPK accepted principles that grow grass but don’t strictly follow scientific principles. There is accurate data and case studies demonstrating amazing results including better animal health, higher production and higher profit with as little as 80kg N/ha applied, which is the sort of targets we should be seeking. General farmer usage would be around 200 to 250kg N/ha. Education is the best way forward rather than the threat of enforcement of more rules and reduction of our great farming future. This education has got to start with the consultants who are talking to farmers and giving them the advice. Consultants are the very people who can affect farmers change because they are who farmers trust and seek advice from. Currently, this radical change to drastically reduce nitrogen and phosphate use unnecessarily is coming from farmers who are entrepreneurs and can think outside the square. These very farmers have gone out of their way to reeducate themselves and have found a better path. The biggest challenge to this change is coming from their trusty consultants who put doubt into this new path. If farmers and consultants feel challenged to act, please contact me.

Passengers on quad bikes

May 2017

LIVESTOCK

17

Carrying a passenger on a quad bike that is not designed for more than one person can increase the risk of accidents by making it more unstable, more difficult to control, and more likely to roll over. Worksafe New Zealand has clarified the circumstances in which it is acceptable to carry passengers on single-seat quad bikes in consultation with Federated Farmers, Beef + Lamb NZ, and DairyNZ. Under the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015, persons conducting a business or undertaking such as farming must identify and manage risks arising from work, so far as is reasonably practicable. WorkSafe’s position on quad bikes is that single-seat quad bikes should not normally be used to carry passengers. “WorkSafe’s guidance is that you should use the safest vehicle for the job. When carrying a passenger this would mean using a vehicle specifically designed for more than one person,” said Al McCone, WorkSafe sector lead — agriculture. WorkSafe acknowledges that farmers and others using quad bikes for work need the policy clarified so they clearly understand what is acceptable in terms of carrying passengers.

It is only acceptable when there is no reasonable alternative having considered factors such as availability of alternative vehicles, terrain, and rider and passenger capability. In those cases where a passenger is taken, appropriate mitigation measures must be taken — including limiting speed, briefing the passenger on best practice riding, and avoiding unsuitable terrain. If carrying a passenger on a quad bike is a recurring necessary practice, you should be looking at acquiring an alternative vehicle suitable for the circumstances as soon as is practicable. The clarification also stipulates that carrying a child as a passenger on a quad bike creates a particular set of risks that you need to consider. As with the general principle, you may only carry a child as a passenger if there is no reasonable alternative and following an assessment of the related risk and risk-mitigation measures. “This is a good example of WorkSafe and farmers working together to find

practical solutions. We all want fewer accidents and injuries on our farms, so the important thing is that we

always consider risk and this guidance emphasises that,” said Beef + Lamb NZ chief executive Sam McIvor.

SAFETY FIRST ON THE FARM

LOOK OUT FOR YOUR WORK MATES

Ford has always been big sponsors and fans of the All Blacks, and ahead of the forthcoming British Lions tour it has released a special edition of both the Ranger and the Everest sports utility, all tricked out in a new, deeper shade of midnight black and all garnished with extra add-ons such as nudge bars, interior detailing, roll bars and massive mag wheels. The overall impression of the FX4 Ranger is of a machine as solidly planted as the All Black’s defensive line and as aggressive as their forwards. That’s entirely the idea, of course — and it feeds into an emerging trend for the new generation of ute owners to want something different. When muscle cars were all the rage in the 1970s, nobody wanted a stock model off the yard. Everyone wanted the limited edition, tuned, pinstriped, candy-flake paint job hot-rod version. It’s becoming a similar world in the top end of the emerging Kiwi super-ute culture, one which mirrors the truck modding exploits of America’s F150 and Dodge Ram owners. Not content with being one of a huge number of drivers who now take

Not content with being one of the pack, many Ranger drivers now demand custom special editions to really stand out

advantage of the comfort and space of the 21st century light commercial by making it their daily ride — and thus blending into the crowd — those with the need to be seen are embracing special editions like the FX4 with both hands. It’s not just this big black tribute to the ABs which is so coveted. Before Ford’s designers added the custom blackout to their top selling ute there have been others taking the initiative. Customised ‘stealth’ edition Ranger utes appeared on the North Shore, boosting the image above and beyond that of the factory-specced Wildtrak.

Then a series of West Coast Edition Rangers were created in Dargaville, in the West Kaipara, with a variety of combinations of LED lamps, bars, mags, tyres, detailing and interior finishes. So far, no two have been the same, and they have been sold as far away as the West Coast — of the South Island! With other brands such as Nissan releasing special edition utes too — witness the tough-as-nails Barbarian custom Navara — New Zealand has a new status symbol. The custom ute — and by extension, the custom Ford Ranger — is the new king of the highway.

Dial R for reputation by Andy Bryenton

Pedigree. It’s an all important factor in the world of automobiles — the difference between a new up and coming supercar like the Koenigsegg and an old and established marque like Lamborghini. Both are blisteringly fast, but one is the stuff of petrolhead dreams just because of the name. The thing is, that name has to be earned, and backed up with solid performances, building one on the other every time a new machine hits the tarmac. So it is with the Honda Civic Type R — a strange case in point indeed. With its roots firmly planted in the stolid dependability of the Civic, that extra letter has meant poise and power for 30 years. Here comes the anniversary, then, and a new model for 2017, which aims a withering broadside at not just the other Japanese automakers, but at the best of Europe as well. Honda picked a great way to assert its dominance as it launched the sleek, sharp new Civic Type R. Those slippery lines, festooned with gills, splitters, spoilers and blades cut through the chilly air at the Nurburgring in Germany on the morning of April 2, preparing to smash some records. When the dust settled the new Honda had blitzed the 20-kilometre ‘green hell’ in just 7 minutes 43.8 seconds. That’s the fastest time ever posted by a front wheel drive car, breaking the record set by VW’s Golf Clubsport. It’s a whole seven seconds faster than the old Type R, which in motor racing terms

Black magic — aerodynamics makes the Civic Type R slippery, while power comes from a new breed of VTEC engine

is a geological age. It’s a testament to the sheer attention to detail which has been lavished on this predatory-looking road missile Even the stand out triple exhaust system is cleverly designed with a smaller central pipe to create a precisely tuned sound at both low and

high revs. Handling has been tuned to razor precision, and the power from the two-litre, double-overhead-cam turbo i-VTEC engine hits the ground through a six-speed manual box. This, then, is a driver’s car pure and simple. And the best news of all — it’s coming to New Zealand. While we don’t have the twists

and turns of Germany’s most famous racetrack, we certainly have the wide range of surfaces, corners and straights represented there. No word yet on price, but fans of the big red R will be fixated on that other number — 7:43.8 — more than any other.
