SPARKLY SWOOP
Smooth hair with a flat iron, then draw a deep side part. Swoop hair toward the ear and secure it with bobby pins. Add a barrette and top it off with a decorative comb. “If you’re using a large barrette, place it away from your face,” says hairstylist Mann Nance. Katie Burley Brass Fleur Comb and Gilded Bloom Barrette ($55 and $80, katieburley .etsy.com). Hairstylist: Mann Nance
PONY TALES
We had a little fun with some ribbonlike headbands from Emi-Jay. You can use regular ribbons or untie the headbands like we did here and attach a bobby pin to the end of each. Secure them into the base of the ponytail. Finish by tying a piece of ribbon around the base to hide the pins. Voilà! You’ve just re-created Chanel’s 2014 runway look.

HAUTE HAWK
There’s no right or wrong way to work with decorative hair pins, so have fun with where you stick them. This style is simply two extra-fluffed ponytails. The blingy bobbies take the look to an avant-garde level of classy. Virgins Saints & Angels Feather Hair Pins ($79 each, vsadesigns.com). Hairstylist: Derrick Scurry
DISCO QUEEN Instead of rocking a glittery elastic headband the traditional way, bring it down across your forehead, haute hippie–style. “Wear it off to the side so that it doesn’t actually look like a headband,” suggests hairstylist Derrick Scurry.
