Often seen as a place or thing to be reached or achieved, but alternately seen to be found in moments throughout life, a sense of contentment or bliss, even if momentary or fleeting. Our surroundings play a large part in what we feel and how we act in life, it is human to lose sight of our own happiness. There is a modern desire to escape and detach from busy and chaotic lives to find lost happiness, it is this escapism that leads to contentment, a detachment from reality. Creating a physical place that invokes a sense of paradise the individual must be separated from their sense of reality, by creating a space that balances between fragility and safety we are able to drop our defense to think and act freely, a place for transformation. human Biophilia (need for nature) in our urban environment means we are rarely able to connect with the natural world on the scale we need, it is the sheer vastness or size in nature that creates a sense of place, the egocentric mentality of the world make the individuals burdens oppressive but when weighed against the world, significance pales. Originally thoughts of a post human world inspired a sense of destructive post apocalyptic reclamation and individual isolation, but destruction is not needed, paradise can be achieved in the juxtaposition of a safe place, a nurturing cocoon in nature against the harshness and severity of the modern world, by connecting with nature and detaching from our built reality. “humans evolved on the earth and we are meant to be here.�
