Bay of Naples

la st popu Our mo ation n ti s de

The Bay of Naples provides a great opportunity to study key themes at all levels, including Tectonic Processes, Tourism, Hazard Management, Coasts and Industry. This exciting programme includes visits to Pompeii, the Phlegraean Fields, Capri and the Amalfi Coast - not to mention Mount Vesuvius! A mild climate makes this the ideal area to visit at any time of year.

Our Consultant’s Comment Michael Cooper

This beautiful area will provide an excellent opportunity to study a wide range of human activities set in an environment largely defined by physical processes such as volcanic eruptions. Farming, fishing, tourism and a cultural history stretching back to before the Romans can be studied in a beautiful setting, with the added advantage of sampling the Italian lifestyle.

Iceland

Iceland, the Geographer’s and Geologist’s ultimate playground, offers unique opportunities for students. Your group will bear witness to rare phenomena, from dramatic volcanic lunar landscapes and spouting geysers, to diverging plates, glaciers, and outwash plains! The landscape of Iceland is rich in opportunities and challenges which will perfectly complement your group’s studies.

Our Consultant’s Comment Michael Cooper

This ‘land of ice and fire’ well deserves its title! You can see both, and much more, in the same field of vision. There is no better place to observe the ongoing impact of glaciation and vulcanicity: icefields, waterfalls and geothermal pools. Iceland also has a unique heritage and a style all of its own.

Barcelona & Catalonia

The popular and cosmopolitan city of Barcelona provides numerous exciting study opportunities. With full day modules to choose from, Montjuïc, Port Olympic and Port Vell offer excellent case studies of redevelopment and regeneration, and the city’s distinct urban zone lends itself to comparisons with urban models. In contrast, Garrotxa Natural Park is a great visit to study ecosystems and tectonic processes.

Our Consultant’s Comment Michael Cooper

Something Spanish but also distinctly regional, this area offers great opportunities for up-to-date field studies. Barcelona is a lively mix of tradition and modernity with many examples of preserved heritage and planned regeneration. The coastal and inland visits also offer the chance to study planned management of the environment in a region popular with holidaymakers.
