Norfolk State at a Glance The Spartans will finish their regular season on Sunday against St. Mary’s College, a game scheduled this past week to give them less of a break before the MEAC Tournament. NSU closed out MEAC play on Wednesday with a 31-point win over Delaware State. The Spartans won no worse than a share of the Northern Division title. Team leading scorer Devante Carter had 16 points and six steals against the Hornets, which committed 20 turnovers in the first half and 28 total for the evening. Carter was one of five seniors honored on Senior Night in NSU’s 86-55 win, the fourth-biggest ever for the Spartans in a MEAC contest. St. Mary’s College at a Glance The Seahawks own a 1-3 record on the year but have played eight other games that only counted as exhibitions, with another two on tap this weekend at home against Marymount University on Saturday and at NSU on Sunday. St. Mary’s College lost to other MEAC schools Morgan State (99-41) and Delaware State (75-58) earlier this year. Gary Grant has averaged 17.0 points and 6.8 rebounds in the four games that counted toward their official stats. He is one of four players in double figures over that time along with Olumide Lewis (12.0 points), Daryn Alexander (11.5 points, 4.5 rebounds) and Micah Henry (10.8 points). The Seahawks are members of the NCAA Division III Coast to Coast Conference, which also includes NSU’s fellow 757 brethren Christopher Newport. Series History This will mark the first ever meeting between NSU and St. Mary’s College.
