Norfolk State at a Glance NSU is coming off a 3-0 loss at home to VCU last Friday that dropped its record to 1-1 on the season. No player had more than six kills for the Spartans, while Nicole Rodriguez contributed 21 digs in the 25-19, 25-23, 25-13 loss. The Spartans led in the latter portion of the first set before VCU closed it out on a big run. The two teams were tied at 21-21 in the second set before the Rams held on. They then jumped out to a big lead in the third set to close out the match. Rachel Williams and Paola Maradei each had six kills. Delaware State at a Glance The Hornets nearly pulled off the comeback win over ODU, winning the third and fourth sets before falling 15-13 in the fifth in a 3-2 loss to open the season. A week later, they hit .314 to take down GWU at home. Valeria Otero (13 kills) was one of three players in double figures along with Mayah Ngundam and Alondra Maldonado, who each had 10. DSU had 14 blocks in the match, with Erika Lindqvist and Sydney Lewis each posting seven. The duo has a combined 24 blocks on the season. Series History DSU holds the edge in the all-time series with NSU, 24-17. One team has swept the other each of the last five years when the Spartans were in the Northern Division. The Hornets won both of last season’s meetings, 3-1 on their home court and 3-2 at NSU. The Spartans, however, had swept Delaware State three of the previous four years to close the series gap.
