THE FOUNDATION FOR IMPACT Coming Together to Create a Brighter Future

Texans doing what we do best: helping each other

Following the news of the Uvalde school shooting in 2022, many looked for ways to help the shaken community heal and move forward. Local architecture firm Huckabee, under Chris Huckabee’s leadership, announced its plan to donate design services to build a brand new school for the Uvalde community.

However, the firm knew it would need support from its broader network to make this project a reality. With support from Texas-based companies HEB and Joeris, the Uvalde CISD Moving Forward Foundation was founded with a fundraising goal of $50 million. An anonymous NTCF fundholder helped generate local support by providing $500,000 in matching funds. By the end of 2022, Fort Worth donors had contributed over $3 million toward the goal, the largest contribution of any Texas city. The school is set to welcome students by the end of 2024.

“For us, at the end of the day, it’s a story of how we come together in the state of Texas to take care of one another.”
