How to Prepare for Pregnancy YOUR CHECKLIST

Start a pregnancy vitamin with folic acid and choline

Exercise regularly - aim for 30 minutes of exercise per day!

Book into your GP or the GPs at Number 1 Women's Health to check that your vaccinations are up to date and your thyroid levels are in normal range

Have your GP check your vitamin D, iron and vitamin b12 levels as these can affect egg health

Start a Coenzyme Q10 supplement. This has been shown to improve egg and sperm health. Cut down alcohol to less than 5 stardard drinks per week Practice mindfulness and meditation to limit and reduce stress

BECAUSE FOR ONCE, THIS IS FOR YOU!

F A Q'S 1 - WHAT CAN I DO TO IMPROVE MY CHANCES OF CONCEIVING? Eat a balanced diet and get 30 minutes of exercise daily to maintain a healthy weight. Having regular intercourse around the day of ovulation is important. The best days to have unprotected intercourse is the day before ovulation and the day after ovulation.

2 - HOW CAN I TELL WHEN I AM OVULATING? Ovulation occurs roughly 14 days before the beginning of your period. If your cycles are less than 25 days or greater than 35 days you may not be ovulating. Check this by doing a progesterone level blood test which will be elevated in the second half of your menstrual cycle.

3 - WHAT CAN I DO TO BOOST MY EGG QUALITY? Eating a balanced diet and taking supplements. Decrease and limit stress. Reduce weight if you are overweight. Stop smoking! Cut down or avoid alcohol.

4 - WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO HAVE A BABY

Your eggs are the healthiest in your 20s and 30s. After 35 the quality and quantity of eggs rapidly declines. Its better to start earlier than later if you are in a stable relationship and your partner is ready.

5 - SHOULD I FREEZE MY EGGS IF I AM NOT READY TO CONCEIVE

Egg freezing is a good option to consider if you are not ready to start a family but keep in mind that there is no guarantee that you will achieve pregnancy just because eggs have been frozen.
