HEALING LANDSCAPE NET
Background Information The healing landscape net is a net of green network through hospital healing gardens. The proposal is to regulate all hospitals to have an outdoor landscape healing facility. There are 42 hospitals in Barcelona. Healing Gardens are beneficial in a lot of ways, especially for the patients’ recovery
4
time. According to Clare Cooper Marcus, typically a healing garden would have 1) water feature, 2) social garden, 3) horticulture therapy garden, 4) greenery but not too dense for it could cause a stressful environment. Hospital Dos de Maig was selected as a case study. There
are 2 interior blocks that are being recovered. The design concept to this specific healing garden is to separate different programs to designated areas in order to not overwhelm the patients.
Healing Garden Two interior blocks were designed for patients of Hospital Dos De Maig.

HYBRIDIZATION OF URBAN SPACES
Background Information An affordable housing community designed to promote a healthier lifestyle with plenty of opportunities for outdoor activities. The key element to the community design is to integrate green spaces and open areas in between houses. 90
18
attached town-homes that has it’s own pocket parks, is designed for mostly families. As a strategy to keep the community feel safe, pocket parks are located around the housing area. A cafe and a convenient store is strategically
located by the entrance for easy access for the residents. The sense of being within a safe green area is the main goal that would promote the idea of wanting to participate in outdoor activities.

BEAUTIFUL BROADWAY
Background Information Broadway Avenue is the main road in Beechview. However, there is a lack of identity and no sense of arrival. As a proposal to revitalize the street, the design is looking at 3 main ideas: 1) a sense of
24
arrival at the T-Rail stop and creating a meeting area, 2) creating a sense of arrival once pedestrian reach the top of the city steps, and 3) how to engage pedestrian visitors with artful installments
on the city steps as part of the ďŹ rst phase. The idea is to engage the visitors as they arrive on Broadway Ave. and creating a celebratory ambiance.
