SANTIAGO DE OLIVEIRA STORYTELLERS

DROPLET (The water cycle)

Hi! My name is Droplet, I am a drop of water and this is my story‌

Once upon a time, high above the earth

In the white clouds lived a little drop of water called Droplet.

For as long as she could remember, she spent her days relaxing and soaking up the sun's warm rays.

One day, she took her usual place in the cloud but the sun didn't seem to be as bright.

In fact, as the day went on, it grew darker and darker and loud claps of thunder shook the cloud.

I can´t move!!

Droplet felt as if she was getting so heavy she could hardly move.

Suddenly, Droplet felt herself falling from the cloud.

Down, down, down she fell, farther and farther from her home, the cloud.

At last she landed on the earth, in the green foliage of the forest.

Around her as far as she could see were tall trees, green leaves,

Multicolured insects and strange animals that she had never seen before.

I want to go home!

All she was sure of was she wanted to go back home, but how?

And so begins the adventure of Droplet, as she enters in the great Water Cycle and starts her journey home:

EVAPORATION

Is when the sun heats up in the rivers, lakes or the oceans and turns the water into vapour.

CONDENSATION

Is when water vapour in the air gets cold and changes back into liquid, forming clouds.

PRECIPITATION

Is when the water falls back to the earth in the form of rain, hail or snow.

COLLECTION

Is when the water falls back in the oceans, lakes or rivers or it may end up on land.

She gets safely through the forest in the river,

And next, she gets safely out to the sea after a long journey.

Next, the sun can warm her once again and help her get back to her home, the clouds, and the story begins again and again‌
