1) Dog's mouths are cleaner than a human's Unfortunately this is just simply not the case. We're not saying that a human's mouth is necessarily cleaner than a dog's mouth but doggie mouths can contain some pretty icky stuff. If you have ever seen them lick their hind quarters you know what we are talking about. Dog's also have a tendency to pick up things outside that really do not belong in a mouth like the fecal material of other dogs or what one vet calls "tootsie rolls" from the cat's litter box.

In modern times it is not generally a great idea to let your dog chow down on grass because of the chemicals and weed killers the grass may be treated with but from time to time you might find your pooch enjoying a nibble.

3) Indoor dogs don't need heartworm medication
This might come as a surprise to some but all dogs, those who spend a lot of time inside and those who are outside more frequently should be getting treated for heartworm. Worms are transmitted via mosquitoes and as most people are aware, those pesky little insects can, and do, get indoors, which means they have access to Fido.
