Salvador Dali Inspired Residence Fundamentals II
The Concept for the residence was based on Salvador Dali’s painting the The Persistence of Memory. The process started by choosing words that describes the painting in terms of light, space and movement. Followed by creating different conceptual models that reflected light, movement and space based on the descriptive words. The residence developed in three diverent level planes that are linked by one ongoing into the other. The first floor is very simple and the second floor is a dreamy fantasy with the different colored tubes that are illuminated by the sun during the day and during the night by artificial lighting if desired by the client. The tubes extend throughout the residence extending a path for the stairs that are located parallel to the light installation. It is pleasant and when the light strikes the tubes rays of color illuminate the house. The colors used divide four spaces in different areas of the building. The blue (bedroom), red (kitchen), yellow (entretainment) and green (studio) make you feel calm and serene but the brightness of the light in the spaces make you feel warm and delighted. As well when the sun is facing the opposite direction they appear to be “melting skin on the west side forms patterns and shades creating shadows through out the entire house. My residence became a piece of art as my painting; it is eclectic but attractive at the same time.
