What to do?I am getting desperate with pain? Having stomach issues for the past two years. One doctor diagnosed trouble w/gallbladderthen renigged- another doc said the same- then renigged once again. Was diagnosed w/Hiatal Hernia and sever gastritus Novemer 2006. Pain since being hospitalized over a year ago w/those diagnoses. Constantly feeling bloated, sever indigestion,Acid reflux, try to burp-even have my hubby burp me but sometimes vomit, feel like food is stuck, pain radiates from midline(Below Sternum) to just below my right ribcage. The pain goes right through to my back. Needless to say- am miserable- cant sleep- hurt when I eat and when I dont. I have tried every medication on the face of the earth- even home remedies like cutting fatty food, acids, even stopped wearing bras to relieve pressure for a while. At hospital last night w/pain,very miserable- they immediately said all my symptoms pointed to gallbladder- but again they renigged. Frustrated, seeing PCP in 1hr, how can I get them to just pull it out!Plz help me

admin answers: Yo... In all seriousness and all joking asside... SMOKE MARIJUANA! It's cheap, it's natural, it will definately be effective. If you have an issue with ingesting smoke go down to your local headshop and buy a vaporizer... Get past the social stigma, and get better... If it wasn't for a few corrupt sensationalist politicians marijuana would be legal and would be prescribed to people living in pain as you are currently...

Stomach/digestion problems, PLEASE help! It's driving me insane? I got my gallbladder removed in August, which the doctor expected would stop the severe, reoccurring heart burn I get. The heart burn is so bad that it makes me feel nauseous, and not until I start feeling better, I feel that it's actually heartburn. It's like acid, and a lot of air/pressure is stuck in the top of my stomach. I also am afraid to swallow sometimes, because sometimes when I swallow, I feel a slight gag reflex. I often feel really hungry once the heartburn starts to subside, which I find strange. I get this mainly in the evenings, after I eat dinner (even if it's a SMALL, early dinner), and I only remember one day in the past 2 months when I did NOT get it. I always avoid fatty & spicy foods and large meals. I have been diagnosed with MILD acid reflux and a hiatal hernia. Should this cause me to feel this sick? It's driving me insane because it has been going on for 4 yrs. After the gallbladder surgery, my overall health became SLIGHTLY better but I still have this problem and it's causing me to even question going to college because I'm scared to feel sick every time I go to school. I take tums, pepcid, and some even stronger medications when I feel sick and sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't. Please, if you have any advice let me know. The doctor doesn't seem to know what it is. He has done so many tests on me including barium swallow, endoscopy, colonoscopy, and gallbladder ultrasound (like I said, my gallbladder is gone now). Thank you. Any info/advice will be greatly appreciated. Oh and I am 5'0'' and weigh 115lbs so I'm not obese or anything lol!

admin answers: You have to watch the tv show Mystery Diagnosis on Discovery Health channel. You have to do some detective work to figure this out. What happens if you exercise hard when the pain starts. Does it get better or worse if you eat something. How about if you immediately drink something. Is it better or worse when you wake up in the morning. Just before bed. Does it change when you worry. If you read a book of jokes, does laughing make it better or worse. You can zero in on this problem. Read more at www.webmd.com and www.medlineplus.com

Hiatus Hernia or something else? ? Over the past few weeks I am getting this weird feeling under my ribs (has happened on separate ocassions on both sides). It feels like something is popping out and getting trapped inside me. I rub the area and sometimes feel it 'pop' back in. I am left with a bruised feeling in the area for a few days after. It usually happens during the evening or in the night. Clothing that is tight around my waist makes it more uncomfortable. I am overweight (BMI 27) and carry my excess weight around my middle. I am in my 40's. I do burp an awful lot and it's a bit of a family joke. Can anyone help?

admin answers: A sliding hiatal hernia involves the stomach bulging up through the opening in the diaphragm that the esophagus passes through, called a hiatus. In a sliding hernia, the stomach bulges into the chest cavity at times, and reduces back into the abdominal cavity at other times. Remaining in an upright position for at least a half hour after meals is recommended, to keep the stomach where it belongs. Excessive belching is a symptom of hiatal hernia, so you may well have accurately diagnosed your problem.

help i need help no joke? ok i keep yawningg i think i need more oxygen so how do i get more i go outside and feel fine i do have asma and i been haviing some trouble taking deep breaths any help i go to the doctors next week for phiscal

admin answers: Your problems of having trouble taking deep breaths, having to yawn feeling; ( which might indicate lack of oxygen to the brain); feeling not enough air going into you rungs; are probably due to GERD ( uppere GI series can confirm this) ; anxiety attacks; and constricted airways due to your asthma; after nights in smokey places (clubs, bars etc) Can you really establish why it varies, or what has a major influence (beside smoke!) on how bad it gets... Maybe you should keep a notebook or journal with info on what iyou eat/drink where you were and so on, and a "rating" on how bad it is on the given day.. This might help to see what triggers it Have you looked into the possibility of heart problems such as a mitral valve prolapse or a metabolic condition? Certain conditions can affect the way the body handles oxygen -- just because oxygen concentrations in the blood are okay doesn't mean the heart is getting exactly what it wants or needs; this could be caused by any number of things, from simple anemia to a heart condition. Certain metabolic things (although more rarely) can still also cause problems with breathing. Because a high breathing rate expels a lot of carbon dioxide, and the presence of carbon dioxide in the blood affects it's pH, sometimes a problem with blood pH can manifest itself with a breathing problem. Have they talked to you about a possibility it's anxiety? Can you describe the feeling further? If your PFTs are normal then I have a feeling it isn't something physiologically wrong with your breathing, like a diaphragmatic problem or a lung collapse. Talk to a GP about what else could possibly cause a feeling of not getting enough air. There's tons and tons of things that could

cause this and I'm only touching on a couple of them. It is probably unlikely that you have a collapsed lung but you never know. They just take a chest xray to see if it has collapsed, even partially. It could be a way to rule out possibilities. How about a deep ven thrombosis( DVT) ? It might also be due to air hunger. Or chronic sinusitis. The infection in your sinuses might be constantly draining into your lungs A pt complains this way: CAN"T GET THE AIR AT TIMES TO YAWN. You might have COPD.or Post nasal Drip or hiatal hernia.or Phrenic Nerve damage. Another person expressed a desire to fill his lungs by taking deep breaths, or yawning...sometimes he found himself unable to yawn, but when he CAN yawn, it makes it better. When he force himself to breathe normally, he gets a sensation like Ihe's starving for air, but his blood-oxygen levels are good, and his last breathing test (breathing into the tube) came out good. The doctor said he had very weak reactive airway disease, but no inhaler . My stomach and chest? Are the pains related? When I laugh there's this shooting pain in my chest near my heart, it can also occur randomly.

The same pain occurs in my stomach, though less often. It can happen when I chug, and on rare occasions out of nowhere. Also increased activity and eating can upset my chest and stomach... Are these occurrences related? Don't tell me to go to the doctor.. Whenever I go to the eye doctors or even just the chiropractor with no needles, medicines, or eye drops I'm ready to scream 'rape.' It's a terrifying experience and I'm very focused on avoiding it. ..I might mention I'm f*cking terrified by pills. Whenever I have to take something like my calcium, magnesium, and vitamin C, it's powers mixed in with water and juice.

admin answers: First of all I am sorry to hear that you are afraid of the doctor. I am a nurse and am TERRIFIED of the dentist. So I don't go. But I am a cardiac nurse and would like to say knowing I do not know your heatlh history but can bet anxiety is an issue. (much like my anxiety about going to the dentist gives my stomach ache.) chest pain is no joke. However, assuming you have no cardiac history I am willing to bet you have chronic stomach issues. Even if they are undiagnosed. Ok here it goes, gas pain hurts like a knife, but gastric acid pain can hurt very bad also, it can mimic and often does the pain of a heart attack. This kind of pain is usually right in the middle of your chest (causing chest and abdominal pain) can even take your breath away the pain can be so sharp. This pain can be caused by stress or over production of gastric acid. Do you take an acid reducer like over the counter (or prescribed) prilosec, zantac, pepcid, and etc? Try one of those for a week. Another common thing associated with that pain is an ulcer (which you will not get rid of without seeing an MD, sorry : ( or even a hiatal hernia which can cause pain after eating. (look that up on google). My concern is that if this pain is associated with high anxiety, and anxiety can and often has physical pain like chest pain and abdominal pain and then turn into panic attacks if untreated. You should really see an MD about it. I know you don't want to hear that but let's say the pain is cardiac in nature, only a MD can help you! If this pain would be cardiac in nature, nothing over the counter will help. Wishing you luck.
