Buildinghazards. Fine Motor Skills Learning to write requires fine motor skills. Tweezing and threading are great activities to strengthen small On the right is the Feed the Frog game. It can be played by one or as a competition. The frogs can be made from any flip-top container or an empty tissue box. We added plastic eyes, but cotton balls will work as well. Craft sticks are glued to clothes pins to be used as tongs. Toddlers squeeze the clothes pin to open the tongs that trap the frog food. These frogs aren’t picky. If you are fresh out of bugs, try cotton balls, cereal or lima beans (Yum!).

Developing literacy skills is a gradual process. Quality early childhood educators implement that process to teach the children in their care. Teachers read to babies to help them develop a vocabulary and use play to help children develop fine motor skills for later writing. A child may be three years or older before they understand that marks on paper are symbols for something else. Then comes reading and Visitwriting!our website to find quality-rated childhood educators that use toys, stories and dramatic play to lead children to LITERACYliteracy.

Threading activities can be as simple as working chenille sticks through colander. Makes a great hat if the colander is big enough! Leftover holiday ribbon taped to a pencil makes threading this punched fabric challenging and fun. Creating the Rainbow trees on Spaghetti Mountain is a sweet activity. See Playdough Power taste-friendly mountains. Parental supervision (andisparticipation)advised.

MIRACLE LEAGUE OF ARKANSAS Miracleleaguear.com | Instagram: @miracleleaguenwa 2898 S 48th St, Springdale | miracleleaguear@yahoo.com The Miracle League removes the barriers that keep children with mental and physical disabilities off the baseball field and lets them experience the joy of America’s favorite pastime. Miracle League teams play on a custom-designed, rubberized turf field that accommodates wheelchairs and other assistive devices while helping to prevent injuries. The Miracle League is about making new friends, building self-esteem and being treated just like other athletes. To help the athletes, the Miracle League uses a “buddy” system – pairing each player with an able-bodied peer. The result is a bond that cannot be described. The Miracle League serves children and adults who suffer from any physical or mental disabilities, which causes them to be excluded, whether intentionally or not, from conventional Baseball leagues. Our goal at Mobius is to create a safe and fun environment where kids can be kids, they are able to learn and explore through creativity, and love and enjoy their experience at the facility. We provide transportation from local schools to our facility. Once students arrive at Mobius, they are not stepping into an ordinary after-school program, it is a whole experience. Our instructors (which we call Mobis) greet the students and lead them to the gym where we have upbeat music playing to get the energy going! Students receive a snack and can play in the gym area or outdoors until we start our group rotations. Students have a blast playing on the triple-decker slide and zip line outside, see the wonder of making homemade volcanoes in science class, create t-shirts, masks, and all sorts of projects in art, and learn how technology can be used as a tool to create. Plus, so much more!!

Our mission has been to create a safe and positive environment where children can learn and thrive. We do this by having a low staff to child ratio and an atmosphere where children feel supported and nurtured. We value each child and our approach is one that emphasizes kindness, respect, and team work. We aim to provide children with a variety of activities that encourage physical fitness, creative expression, and discovery.
