Trent Wilson & Kristen Pennington
Kristen and I met around 2006 through our sisters who became best friends in college. Throughout the next several years we would see each other occasionally, but it wasn’t until October 2015 that we would begin to talk every day and start dating. We spent that first Christmas with each other’s families before either of us even knew that we planned to spend the rest of our lives together. We were engaged June 2, 2018 and I really wanted that moment to be intimate and unexpected. I arranged
a private weekend getaway at Big Cedar Lodge and after spending a couple of romantic nights on the property, proposed privately in our suite. The following day we were meeting up with our families at Chateau on the Lake, so it was a perfect opportunity to share the news and celebrate! With a lot of wedding experience through photography, I felt confident that we could plan every aspect of our wedding. One of the first things we did was attend an open house at
The Apollo on Emma. We fell in love with the timeless beauty of the venue and felt it would be a perfect backdrop for what we wanted our wedding to be. We already knew who we wanted for our photographer and videographer,
Freckled Fox Photography and Dave and a Camera. They were there every step of the way to capture our story. Dave even filmed our engagement session and the movie he made was projected during our reception.
Kristen’s longtime family friend Vicki Harris was our caterer, our friend Tina Choi made our wedding cake, and I reached out to friends at Huntsville Floral and Gifts for our florals. We created our wedding stationery which included our bridal party proposal cards, save the dates, invitations, and posters for the wedding. We also made our groom’s cake, the orange simple syrup for cocktails, and hand dyed linens for the tablescapes.
The ladies spent the wedding day getting ready at The Grove Cottage, while the groomsmen and I went to get straight razor shaves at Elevation Grooming Lounge. We put a lot of detail into our ceremony as well. The songs and artists we chose had a lot of significance. Ultimately, our wedding came together just as we planned, and we are thankful for our families, friends, and vendors that went into making it so special.
