High School Sweethearts at its finest!

Clint started at Elkins school district in fourth grade, and I had been going there since kindergarten. We are one year apart. So we knew of each other throughout school but it wasn’t until 10th and 11th grade that we started to get to know each other. Our connections began when I joined the bowling team. Clint was on the boys’ team with my brother. One day I had to ride with my brother to practice. I remember walking into the bowling alley, Clint turned his head, and his eyes lit up like the Fourth of July. Every practice and match from then on, Clint and I grew closer and closer together.
After making him play chase for almost two years, I finally gave in and started going on dates with him. We went on a date to the drive-in theater on June 2, 2019, and that’s when he nonchalantly asked me to be his girlfriend. Fast forward to May 5, 2021 we bought our first home. A small one-bedroom, one-bath home in the Heart of Elkins. While living at this home, I would go stay with my parents here and there when I missed them or if Clint went out of town for work. July 17, 2021 just happened to be one of those times. Little did I know while I was hanging out with my momma, Clint was planning the most perfect proposal.
The next day, I got a message from him asking when I was coming home and that I should wear nice clothes. I refused to wear something nice to just go from my parent's house to our house, so I wore my peanut butter and jelly time Pj shirt and shorts instead. When I was pulling up at our house I saw his mom's car in the driveway. My mom, who said she was going to the store, also pulled into our driveway at the same time. At this moment, I knew something was going on. I began to get anxious and nervous. When I walked through the door there were rose petals and small candles in a trail leading to our living room. When I rounded the corner from the kitchen to the living room there he was kneeling and tears began to fill my eyes. When he asked if I would marry him I said “ABSOLUTELY”!
We immediately started planning our wedding. We had seen White River Landing while looking at venues with my brother and sister-in-law when they were engaged. I just couldn’t get it out of my mind, and I knew it was the one. My dad made us a beautiful cross to have as a backdrop when we said our vows and it was so perfect and special to us. We sold our house one month before our wedding to move in with his parents so we could build our forever dream home, and the cross will be in our front yard. That’s our love story! We can’t wait to keep adding to it for many years to come!
