Turner and I were both very involved in our high school ag riculture programs. We both showed livestock, and that community is pretty tight knit. When I was a sophomore in college, I went to a bar with a friend who showed cattle with him, and she introduced us. We went our separate ways that night, but our paths crossed again and we never looked back!
Turner proposed in the sweetest way.
We had planned a family trip for the summer of 2019 to Big Sky, Mon tana with Turner's family. We decided to head north a few days early to see one of our favorite artists, Cody Jinks, who was playing at the Red Rocks Amphitheatre.
We went to Denver the day before the concert and enjoyed a farmers market and a casual dinner in Ar vada that evening. Turner suggest ed that we go on a walk around Red Rocks Park after dinner. We got there just in time to watch a desert sunset. The whole time it felt like Turner was a bit anxious. He spotted this rock he really wanted to walk out on, but there may or may not have been a sign that stated “do not cross”. We crossed it.
On top of that rock was the most gor geous view, and that’s when I turned around to find him, down on one knee. There were tears of joy!
From that night on, we talked about how we envisioned our wedding. Turner’s family is all local to NWA and mine is split between NWA, the River Valley, and Montana, so we planned on having a wedding with about 180 guests.
...there may or may not have been a sign that stated “do not cross”. We crossed it.
Our plans quickly changed in March of 2020. Along with many people, we thought the situation the world was in would only last a few months. We knew we still wanted to get married on our original date, May 29th, and we would later have a large reception.
May 29th was a gorgeous day. We had a small ceremony with an intimate dinner afterwards, with our closest family members. Every per son that was involved made our night even more special. From the florals to the wedding cake, every detail was perfect.
After our wedding, we had still hoped to have a reception with all of our family and friends present. As the summer months continued, we didn’t see the regulations getting any better, and we didn’t want to have to make the choice as to who could and couldn’t attend. So, we decided to cancel the reception all together.
Looking back on our wed ding, every detail was per fect. We were able to spend the most special night with most of those closest to us. I wouldn’t change a thing.
