Cayde and I met after high school. We both went to the same small school, but never knew each other. He was a senior when I was a freshman. Years later we become Facebook friends. From then on we were talking all the time and hanging out almost every single weekend.

After dating for close to a year, Cayde popped the question. We were taking Christmas pictures so we could send them to my family in Mexico.

He had a gift for me, which was a book. When I got to the last page it said will you marry me? I was really surprised!

We spent that year planning for our big day. We knew we wanted to get married outside, and having the chapel at Sassafras gave it more of a wedding feel. It’s a beautiful place with so many options! The day-of coordinator was amazing! I had given Racinda a timeline for our wedding and she did an incredible job keeping everything on time. I loved incorporating two different
cultures into our ceremony. To represent our unity we used a lasso, which is part of the Mexican culture. After we exchanged our vows, a rope was placed around our shoulders in the form of an “8” (the infinity symbol) to symbolize our everlasting union. During this time, our parents came up and prayed with us, and my sister and husband presented us with our first bible as husband and wife.
