FROM THE

President

This month was a bit chaotic with meetings but we are all trying to make it to winter break. The magical forest is my favorite event that we have planned all year and I'm looking forward to seeing everyone's smiling faces! Elections are coming up so remember to plan and prepare yourselves. I have so much faith in new members as well as existing members and believe that our club is headed up!

Have a great break hawks!

FROM

THE

Editor

Happy December everyone! I hope everyone is excited spend time with family or just relax during this upcoming break. Now even though we’re on break, it doesn’t mean our service has to stop! No matter where we go, we can always help. I encourage all of you to take the time to volunteer during this break, and send in some items of how you helped! This month was very difficult to get articles and visuals from members, unlike last month, but I hope everyone sends in items next month without me having to ask you all! Have a splendid break, and be safe!

See you in 2015 hawks!

What is Relay for Life? According to the American Cancer Society, “At Relay For Life events, communities across the globe come together to honor cancer survivors, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against a disease that has already taken too much. Relay For Life teams camp out overnight and take turns walking or running around a track or path at a local high school, park, or fairground. Events are up to 24 hours long, and because cancer never

sleeps, each team is asked to have at least one participant on the track at all times.

What we do to Support

134 days left!

Every year we fundraise to support the American Cancer Society. Food, water, accessories, games, and other items are all ideas that help raise funds towards this cause. Every penny counts! Have any fundraising ideas? Contact any of the board members to share!

Member of the Month

Congratulations, Shaila Salinas, for being member of the month! You continuously attend ALL of the events our club has, and you’re setting a face for our club. You’re also always an event chair, and you make the best of events. Thank

you so much for being a hawksome member!

The Las Vegas Great San What is it? Run by Opportunity Village, the Santa Run helps by raising funds to support our programs and services for individuals with disabilities. This was it’s 10th annual run, and it has become a holiday tradition for some of the members in our community!

nta Run KAREN JENSEN | JUNIOR REP "Attending the Santa Run has been my favorite tradition that I've been through for about 3 years now, and EVERYTIME I go I always get a nice Christmas feeling because of all the Santa's and cute dogs in costumes. Not only does it keep my spirit up and prepared for Christmas and holiday service, I met some people from Circle K, and I'm just really excited to be joining that when I graduate and attend college."

Over 11,000 Santa’s were present!

I love Key Club because…. MELANIE GARCIA | JUNIOR MEMBER “I love Key Club for one main reason: I get to help others that it. Earlier this year, I truly realized that most people don't have a house or food or clothes for themselves. Other people suffer from incurable diseases that shorten their lives, preventing them from seeing and feeling the beauty of life. In an effort to give to these people and try to find money for them, the most I can do is participate in events that serve the community and I can do that best in key club. I love key club because I get to help others and the happiness it gives me to see all these people thankful for the help is the best gift a person can receive.”

RHEALYN BOQUIREN | JUNIOR MEMBER “As with all clubs, one can obtain leadership skills, but unlike other clubs, Key Club allows one to see and embrace the many flaws in the world. Through Key Club, those flaws are the inevitable events people experience, from moving out of a country to homelessness. Key Club is a stepping stone to help a student grow to overcome obstacles themselves, and to help others around that student to develop too. The world has many who overlook the small details that actually make a huge difference. That is where Key Club gets involved; may it be through donations, socials, or volunteering at an event.”

ANGIE PARAYNO | FRESHMAN MEMBER “The reason why I love Key Club is because it brought me to where I can be myself and make our family grow, but it also made me meet so many people where I now call family. Key Club gave me memorable events where I will always cherish, and made me into a more helpful and grateful person. Key Club taught me how to show kindness, make less fortunate people smile, and help make our school a better community. It also brought me to who I am now. I'm more giving and helpful to others. I made so many new friends all thanks to Key Club. I could write so much of how much I love Key Club but for now, I will end my note saying that joining Key Club was the best decision I ever made. You're surrounded by people who are there for you and make you a better you, and for that I love Key Club and the family. ”

ROSALIND BUSLON | SENIOR MEMBER “Key Club is an amazing organization filled with dedicated, enigmatic members. As a senior, I’ve experienced the privilege of observing how Key Club has progressed over the years, and I can honestly say that I’ve never met a more assiduous and enthusiastic group of people. Each and every member possesses a proclivity towards philanthropy and the welfare of our community. I truly admire the club’s spirit and hope it continues to cultivate. When I graduate, I hope Key Club will continue its legacy so that others may emulate the members’ hard work and perseverance.
