FROM THE PRESIDENT AND EDITOR It’s the month of love and boy do we love key club! This past month we have been in election and fundraising mode! Not only did we have a basketball tournament and fundraised over $200 for the Children’s Miracle Network but we also have a chocolate covered strawberry fundraiser! Both were so successful and loved by those who attended, our elections are a week away and preparing the many ambitious candidates makes me hopeful for next years board. It’s a bittersweet feeling but I know more loving key clubbers will be put in position where they can help our community even more.

Hope everyone has had a good first two months of the year and is ready to keep on serving! With the new year progressing, more service events are to be held, and more charities to support. Filled with fundraisers this past month, we’ve gained more support for ourselves and to donate to charities in need! Keep on serving’ Hawks!

Alyssa Watanabe The purpose of this boba fundraiser Key Club has been hosting is to raise money for either our club or to donate to a charitable cause! It’s been exciting planning the fundraiser and making posters to promote. It’s always fun to give back to our club even if it’s just selling boba! Make sure you look out for the next boba fundraiser!

Chloe Tabayoyang The Key Club Boba Fundraiser turned out to be a great success! Many people -not only key clubbers- supported our club and bought boba! We were able to raise a lot of money to benefit our donating charities, as well as our club overall! I hope we get to continue this BOBA-TASTIC fundraiser again!

Keikilani Rogel / Chair The strawberry fundraiser was something that started last year, and has come back this year to bring in the mood for Valentine’s Day! Personally, I absolutely LOVE Chocolate Covered Strawberries & I know many others do to, which is why I figured people could buy it for their special someone this Valentine’s day, or even themselves. The strawberry social was super fun! We gathered at a members house and made the customized strawberries to hand out during lunch while bonding our club.

Kevin Wu Prepping for the strawberry fundraiser whether it was helping to making posters, gathering materials such as chocolate, and actually making them was pretty stressful, but seeing everything come together was worth it. Everyone seemed to enjoy the them and was able to surprise their valentine with a little treat!

Neil Bongolan / Winner The purpose I created the Key Club basketball tournament was to raise money for the Children’s Miracle Network in an entertaining way. Since NWCTA does not have sports, I felt that it would be a great experience for the student to enjoy. The basketball tournament turned out to be a huge success! The atmosphere was very energetic and involved. Even though it was super competitive, everyone was very respectful and there were no problems! All in all, the basketball tournament had a very good turnout, and I hope it’ll be better next year!

Devin Cooley / Winner I wanted to do the basketball tournament because basketball is my favorite past time especially with friends. The crowd, competition, and obviously winning made the experience so much better.

Raphael Velandria / Winner Having a chance to raise money for the Children’s Miracle Network while playing Basketball was great. The atmosphere and tone that was set by the crowd's reactions combined with the opportunity to play with friends against my peers was amazing. The Basketball Tournament gave myself and the audience an opportunity to escape from regular school activities while doing so for a good cause.
