Summarise what I will get out of attending...

Why come to Liverpool now? The regeneration challenge in Liverpool resonates with everyone delivering and managing change in the UK. It is a city in transition: an ideal period to witness regeneration at its most difficult phase as the city reshapes the way the regeneration process is managed and governed. It is recreating its sense of place, attracting investment and employment, delivering the largest post-war city centre building programme in Europe (whilst keeping business as usual); all the while managing expectations of residents and local business to re-establish itself in the regional, national and global economy. In addition it’s European City of Culture 2008.

What’s different about a BURA conference? Who’ll you meet and what you’ll discuss. BURA puts private, public and community sectors on a shared and equal platform, so you get a very informed, balanced and practical discussion. What’s more the BURA events team realise that two days is quite a commitment for participants so the programme has been developed to strike a balance between: Exploring new ideas and reality checking accepted practice Investigating local, regional, national and international issues Keeping it informative and keeping it entertaining Making sure that delegates get to know each other

A chance to participate A different perspective Engaging, informative and entertaining content New ideas and contacts Learn the latest tools and techniques

Who will I meet? Those responsible for delivering and managing change in the UK’s cities and towns (big and small). That means property developers, community groups, local authority planners, economic development officers, housing managers and regeneration chiefs will all be attending, alongside public agencies and regeneration partnerships, business leaders, housing associations, development trusts, resident groups, social enterprises and politicians, not to mention property agents, architects, urban designers, community planners and the brightest students from the BURA talent pool. We believe you will meet someone that you’ve never met before, someone you will end up working with and someone that might offer a different, but useful perspective.

...And the opportunity to dispel some myths and get to know the objectives and constraints of different stakeholders

About BURA BURA is the leading independant champion for those involved in regeneration. Its unique strength comes from its diverse membership, which spans the private, public, voluntary, community and academic sectors. BURA identifies and promotes best practice in regeneration, guiding and inspiring the sector’s evolution and exploring the social, economic and environmental issues involved for all parties. The Association offers national and regional networks, pioneering and practical modular training programmes, diverse and constructive events and campaigns addressing key issues on the regeneration agenda, geared towards the long-term development of the regeneration workforce itself.
