Acronyms •

BREEAM = The Building Research Establishment’s Environmental Assessment Method - the leading environmental assessment method for buildings that sets the standard for best practice in sustainable design and a building's environmental performance.

CEEQUAL = the accepted UK industry scheme for assessing environmental and sustainability performance in civil engineering and public realm projects (Civil Engineering Environmental Quality and Assessment Award Scheme).

Eco-footprint = An ecological footprint is measure of human demand on the Earth's ecosystems and natural resources. The concept of ecological footprint is based on the assumption that anything that consumes items or energy needs a certain amount of land, water and other natural resources to live the way it is. That means the more active and consuming someone or something is, the larger the ecological footprint for him, her, or it.

GVA = Gross value added. This is used to measure the contribution to the economy of each individual producer, industry or sector in the United Kingdom. It is used in the estimation of Gross Domestic Product (GDP). GDP is a key indicator of the state of the whole economy.
