Annie Leeson, project director, hosts an exploration of the results and the implications for organisations and their offices.

This session will examine the critical technologies for the city in the future as well as for tomorrow’s intelligent buildings. It will look at connecting workplaces of both big corporates and smaller independents. How can we share digital media in the 2011 workplace? What is a wireless city? What will people demand by 2020? 4.00pm Masterclass 2 How do people use Space?
4.15pm Masterclass 4 Technology for the NeXt Generation
Hot Desking to Not Desking - a look at how new ways of working are shaping the buildings we work in. The types of spaces demanded by companies are changing. Increased collaboration and teamwork require different solutions to how and where ‘work’ can take place. Technology has released us from fixed allocated desks to allow us to explore new models for the ‘office’. Equally, environmental matters are affecting the size and form of the new office. The impact of these shifts will be discussed, together with visions for the city as people become increasingly mobile and independent. By Gavin King and Jasper Sanders, Associate Interior Designers, Building Design Partnership, Manchester Office.
Generation X and Y have different attitudes, approaches and comfort levels with technologies. How will a generation that is growing up with the internet inhabit digital space? How will people interact and collaborate in the metaverse and what will new technology bring? This session will look at innovation, including advanced thinking in immersive, interactive visualization – 3D video capture, holographics and teleportation to augment social space… Discussion with Paul Sermon, Professor of Creative Technology and David Roberts, Scientific and Technical Director, at University of Salford.
