Todd Craven is Music Director/Conductor of the Northwest Florida Symphony Orchestra and the Orlando Contemporary Chamber Orchestra. Known for his musical sensitivity, amiable personality and passion for contemporary music, Craven advocates for the 21st century orchestra by creating programs that introduce classical and orchestral music to people from all walks of life. Craven’s past accomplishments include First Prize in the 2019 Los Angeles Conducting Competition, Assistant Conductor positions with the Buffalo Philharmonic and Florida Grand Opera, as well as Music Director positions with the Michigan Pops and the University of Michigan Life Sciences Orchestra.
In 2022-23, Todd made his debut with the Florida Orchestra (TFO) in a series of sold-out holiday concerts, with the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra, stepping in with a few hours notice to conduct the entirety of Handel’s Messiah and with the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra for their Concert at the Springs. In March of this year, Mr. Craven was invited to assist on a recording project with Eric Jacobsen, the Virginia Symphony and the legendary violinist Gil Shaham. In 2024, Todd will return to the Virginia Symphony, and is also invited to guest conduct the Goiânia Symphony Orchestra of Brazil. Other guest conducting highlights have included engagements with the Detroit Symphony, Toledo Symphony, Edmonton Symphony, Peabody Symphony Orchestra and the Virginia Symphony Orchestra.
Co-Founder and Music Director of the Orlando Contemporary Chamber Orchestra, Craven is passionate about performing the works of living composers. Orlando Arts Magazine said of the “captivating” world premiere of Donald Yu’s Four Seasons, that Craven “held the ensemble together with precision, allowing each instrument to resonate while minding the role of the soloist.”
Previously a prize winning trumpet player, he began his professional career as Principal Trumpet of the Sarasota Orchestra and performed with the New York Philharmonic, Cincinnati Symphony and as a frequent guest artist at the Sarasota Music Festival.
Craven made his conducting debut in 2012 with members of the Sarasota Orchestra and Redeemer Chorus in Maurice Durufle’s Requiem. In 2014, he began conducting studies with Kenneth Kiesler at the University of Michigan and subsequently with Marin Alsop at the Peabody Conservatory. Other conducting mentors include JoAnn Falletta, Donald Schleicher, Larry Rachleff, and William Wiedrich.

Rev. Darrin Scott Isaac is a minister, composer, singer, and conductor best known for his prolific contributions to hymnody and sacred choral literature. He holds a Bachelors degree in Music from University of Indianapolis where he studied voice and composition and Master of Arts in Music Ministry from Garrett Evangelical Theological Seminary where his academic focus was liturgical composition. His original choral works and hymns are regularly used in worship throughout the United States and abroad. In concert settings Isaac’s music has been presented by ensembles ranging from elementary school choirs to collegiate and professional ensembles. His most significant works include his piano sonatas, a mass setting, and his first symphony which premiered fall of 2022.
As a conductor, Isaac specializes in choral literature and has toured internationally presenting works both classic and contemporary. His most formative choral conducting training came from his work with the Cornish American Song Institute in 2018. This opportunity allowed him to spend the summer in England working with professors and ensembles in several Oxford Chapel Choirs in a program that culminated with a concert series in Falmouth, Cornwall.
Additionally, Isaac has a background in opera and art song performance. The focus of his repertoire is in oratorio literature and sacred song cycles. His published works include a book of choral works, Four Motets and Oxford Canticles, and a Lenten devotional and hymn book entitled 40 Days of Hymns.
In addition to conducting the Northwest Florida Symphony Chorale, Isaac’s primary work is as an appointed pastor at Point Washington United Methodist Church in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida where he serves as the Director of Music Ministries.
He currently lives in Panama City Beach, Florida with his wife and son.

Greetings church parishioners, Northwest Florida Symphony Orchestra patrons and classical music lovers! I’m so pleased to welcome you to our first ever concert at the beautiful Resurrection Catholic Church!
Our program this evening features liturgical music that honors the beautiful acoustics, ambience and spirituality of Resurrection Catholic Church. The main work this evening is Maurice Duruflé’s Requiem, which features our Northwest Florida Symphony Chorale. This astonishing piece follows much of the traditional liturgy of the Requiem Mass, the centerpiece of which is the Pie Jesu (“Merciful Jesus grant them rest everlasting”) for solo voice, choir and orchestra.
Our concert also features the angelic Mozart: Concerto for Flute and Harp featuring outstanding soloists from the NFSO, Stephanie Riegle and Katie Ott. We begin the concert with the world premiere of a composition by our very own (principal oboist) Matthew Fossa.
Look out for our season 2023-24 announcement soon, which promises to be one of unprecedented collaboration and outstanding guest artists. Be reminded that every donation and ticket purchase to the Northwest Florida Symphony Orchestra benefits students and music education in our community. Please consider making a donation today below or via the QR code in your program.
