Big changes are exciting!

The last year has been something of a whirlwind for me, especially when it comes to the world of golf. After years of being on the periphery of the golf industry - both with travel and media - I decided to take the plunge and jump into the PGA of America’s Associate Program and begin my journey toward full PGA Member status.

It’s been funny having people ask what I’m doing these days, constantly making the distinction between being a golf professional and being a professional golfer. I’m definitely not the latter, but it’s been a lot of fun playing events and trying to win cash instead of just pro shop credit. It’s also been fascinating to dig into the business of golf and see just how much PGA professionals really do.

One thing I didn’t know was that to be a part of the program, you had to be employed at a PGA recognized facility for 30 hours per week. Not wanting to tie myself to a golf course or driving range, I had to form my own company that would allow me to move forward with the things I want to do. Part of that process was pulling all of my endeavors together under one company and creating a job description that outlined all the things I do on a regular basis.

It was eye opening!

Now, I’m happy to be able to share all of the golf opportunities we have with our readers, followers and clients, all under one roof. NW Golf Adventures (now a PGA Recognized Facility) and NWGolfAdventures.com is now a one-stop shop for everything: news and information, travel opportunities, casual play events, tournament golf, instruction, PGA Jr. League, and a brand-new podcast. I hope you’ll take the time to explore the site and join us on whatever platform you like.

In future issues we’ll have more information about upcoming travel events, tournaments and more. We’ll also take advantage of my new relationship with the Pacific Northwest Section of the PGA to recognize the phenomenal golf professionals in our area. Let me know if there’s something specific you’d like to know more about!
