After a successful three-day event in the Portland area in July of 2013, the group was officially organized as the Northwest Hickory Players on JanuHicat Chambers Bay. ary 1, 2014 followingst e a round k and promote The goal of this group w is to preserve hickory golf in the traditions of bygone days when golfers, wearing knickers and other period clothing, played with brassies, spoons mashies and niblicks. We’re all about hickory golf. That’s it. No modern events, no hybrid events, just pre-1935 hickory play for the love of the game. We invite players from Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and British Columbia to join us!

Jack grew up in Sioux City, IA. AGE: 70 His first lesson was at 10 with a Scottish pro (Bill Adams) BEST SCORE: 74 at the Boat Club. Native of Nebraska, Rob came to Olympia in 2007. He has served on the board of the Golf Collectors Society and the Society of Hickory Golfers. He is currently the chair of the SoHG’s Equipment Committee. While living in Nebraska, Rob hosted several GCS regional meetings, and began two different tournaments--The River City Hickory Classic and the Arbor Day Hickory Tournament. He has played in tournaments across the U.S. and Canada, Scotland, Germany and Sweden. “Big Rob” placed second in the Scottish Hickory Championship, won the Southern Four Ball three times, won the Senior Division Canadian Hickory Championship, placed Third, senior division GCS Championship, Captained the U.S. side at the first Eastern Canadian Hickory Championship-winning side!
