One, there is a limit to how much Cannabis one should consume. Two, food delivery services are God’s gift to stoners. And three, not all energy drinks are created equal. On our third night of reviews, in desperate need of caffeine to counteract the potent indicas Alaska is famous for, we found ourselves perusing the energy drink aisle at Carrs. After days of evaluating concentrates on their purity, we figured maybe it was time to think of our energy drinks in the same way. That’s when we stumbled – literally – onto Yerbae’s Mango Passion Fruit sparkling water. This brightly flavored water is plant-based for sustainable energy and is produced with an eye for conservation. One can contains 160mg of caffeine – slightly more than your average cup of joe. But unlike the bitter, chalky flavor of coffee that leaves you craving water, Yerbae quenches your thirst while also feeding your desire to stay awake at work. After downing a can of Yerbae, we knew it would pair well with Fireweed Extracts’ Mango Ayahuasca THCA Crystals. The brightly colored crystals looked precisely like the rock candy we got at the Alaska State Fair as kids, which was a nice throwback. Equally edifying was the sweet mango aroma that emanated from the crystals as we filled our dab rig. Taking our first toke, we noticed that the smoke was pungent with notes of sour fruit and a faintly nutty aftertaste that complemented Yerbae’s somewhat sweet-and-sour flavor profile. Typically, we wouldn’t pair a potent indica strain with caffeine, but surprisingly, this combo worked well. The sedative effects of the crystals were held at bay, leaving a noticeable body high in their wake. The result was a relaxed but focused high that helped us power through the final hours of content creation for this edition. And to think people say the best ideas come when you’re fully alert and awake...
