AFTER ONE OF THE HOTTEST SPRINGS ON RECORD, it’s finally summer in Alaska and the weather forecast is for more sun. The heatwave is great news for those of us who migrated north to Alaska from warmer climates, but for us OG Alaskans, surviving another endless summer without the comforts of AC is daunting. While this month’s edible won’t magically transport you to more manageable temps, it can make enduring a wicked sunburn a little more bearable.
Red Run Cannabis Company’s Hashade isn’t new to the market. In fact, it’s been one of the bestselling edibles in the state since Ryan Walker first introduced it. However, recently, Hashade has undergone a glow-up. The refreshing lemonade-based edible now comes in 100mg, which is great news for those with high tolerances.
But the increased THC isn’t the only change.
Like a mad mixologist, Walker has concocted a host of new delectable flavors, including lime, blueberry, black cherry and cranberry-orange.
As Alaskans, of course we were enamored with the blueberry flavor – we could literally envision picking blueberries this fall while sipping on this bad boy. A close runner-up was the black cherry variety that expertly combined the tartness of lemon with the sweetly artificial flavor.
Although the weedy taste peeked through the blend a little bit, it was subtle. So, if you’re not a big fan of the taste of weed, then black cherry is a great option. For those who salivate at the mention of skunk, the lime and cran-orange flavors are the ticket.
One word of caution – OK, maybe two – the high is a very slowcreeping kind and took close to 90 minutes to take hold.
This wouldn’t be of note if Hashade didn’t taste so great, but the fact is, Hashade is absolutely delicious and it’s easy to over-indulge and find yourself couch-locked for the day.
Go slow when sipping and be patient.
The high is definitely worth the wait.
