set against the dark green and twilight-purple backdrop. The satisfying, substantial *thunk* of a chunky nug hitting the bottom of the jar. The perfect, sticky crumble for twisting up a greasy J.
La Paleta from Sacramento indoor cultivator CAM has it all. And well, it should. CAM has earned itself a reputation for bringing the heat out of its 600-light facility. So much so, that they’re currently prepping for an expansion to a 2,000-light grow house in the coming year.
Owner and head cultivator Anna Willey keeps a tight rein on the strains she brings into her program. Like a number of the strains in CAM’s lineup of genetics, the La Paleta was bred by JBeezy from Seed Junky Genetics.
“I test out strains for him,” Willey said. During the selection process, Willey and her team work together and even employ feedback from trusted budtenders and dispensary workers in their network. They look for bud structure, plant hardiness, color and yield, but above all, they look for that extra tasty bit of magic that’s harder to find.
“I’m looking for something unique,” she said. “Not something that just has a gas back, or a fruity undertone, but something that blends those things together.”
La Paleta crosses Otter Pop (Blueberry x Daily Driver) with Jealousy (Gelato 41 x Sherbert backcross).
With its sweet, creamy, candied fruit and complex floral character, La Paleta delivers the goods.
It’s a dreamy draw with a lingering lift.
“I love that it has a little bit of that lemon,” Willey said. “I like the length of the high, it is longer. I’m a flavor girl, but I like things that are stronger.”
