Premier Cannabis has been a brand on our radar since crushing the 2019 Seattle Cannabis Cup with a three-peat win: first place in the non-solventless hash category, hybrid flower category, and sativa flower category for Tropicanna Cookies – a parent genetic in this Grapefruit Mtn rosin. All of Premier’s solventless extracts are single-source and made with small-batch flower grown indoors at their facility in Spokane, Washington. They use a hand-stirring method to extract the hash, a true labor of love, which is then processed and stored at low temperatures to preserve terpenes and optimize flavor.

As one of the most sought-after strains exclusive to the Premier lineup, we couldn’t wait to get our hands on a glob of this Tropicanna Cookies x (Grape Pie x Wedding Crasher) cross. Smelling like a crispy egg roll dipped in sweet and sour duck sauce, opening the jar is like sticking your nose in a carton of Chinese food from the corner bodega. Citrus notes come through super heavy from the Tangie in the Tropicanna Cookies, followed by a funk from the Wedding Crasher that borders on foul in the absolutely best way possible.

The fresh press has a beautifully rich amber hue straight out of the fridge, and as we whipped up the jar, the aroma of ripe, juicy grapefruit peel got stronger with each agitation. First inhales are sugary thanks to the Grape Pie cross and Cookie terps, followed by a surprising punch of tartness to the tongue. That eggroll-esque funk returns on the exhale and lingers with an aftertaste that made us crave Chinese food so bad, we literally couldn’t resist ordering takeout to Leaf HQ while we took a few more dabs.

We feasted on crunchy orange chicken, sticky rice and fresh spring rolls – the carmelized, citrusy glaze on the chicken and the salty umami of the soy sauce paired perfectly with the sweet and sour flavor profile of the rosin. Thirty minutes later, with our heads in the clouds and munchies sufficiently satisfied, it was finally time to call it a night. Man, was our trip to Grapefruit Mtn a delicious one.
