WHAT MUSIC HAVE YOU BEEN PLAYING IN THE SHOP LATELY? When people enter through the door, we can assume that they’re stoned – so we try to keep the vibe geared around old school hip hop, modern alternative and rock music. However, I’d say that mostly we’ve got trap going because after all, we are selling drugs. (laughs)
UNDERSTOOD. EVERY BUDTENDER HAS THEIR STYLE BEHIND THE COUNTER. DOES YOUR LOVE OF MELODY HELP YOU GET INTO YOUR UNIQUE RHYTHM? 100 percent. Music is my coffee. If it’s not the right tune, I’m not in the right mood. But if the right vibes are playing, I can go all day.
HAVE YOU EVER SUGGESTED A SPECIFIC CANNABIS STRAIN BASED ON THE PERCEPTION OF WHAT A PERSON’S MUSICAL TASTES MIGHT BE? Yes, a lot of times I will when someone comments on the music being played in the store or wants to discuss a particular type of music. This can give me an idea if they want something trippy, relaxing or energetic, and that really helps.
WHAT STRAIN DO YOU LIKE WHEN YOU’RE PLAYING? GMO. It gets me super giggly with a body high, but I don’t pass out on it. Stinky is the name of the game for me.
DID YOU GUYS EVER GET KICKED OUT OF A PARTY WHEN YOU WERE PLAYING IN A BAND IN HIGH SCHOOL? Yeah, we did a gig once for a 5k run and they asked us to play near the start/finish line, which was located by an elementary school. We decided to turn the volume up a little to get people pumped and they ended up turning our gear down.
IF YOU COULD JUMP UP ON STAGE TO PLAY WITH ANY MUSICIAN, WHO WOULD IT BE? Tame Impala. Kevin Parker is my guy. He’s a musical magician. I just think his sound is the most interesting, psychedelic I’ve ever heard. In my opinion he is the modern equivalent to Pink Floyd.
