MAKING A DIFFERENCE

It doesn’t get any more kindred than this. Started by the mother and son team of Lisa and Brad Kihm, the two rallied friends and family to take off for the adventure of starting a cannabiz, and this place is the culmination of those dreams set into action. Recognizing this great fortune does not get lost on their success either, because as to date this amazing store has donated over $113,000 to local charities. The formula works like a champ: pay the budtenders very well with benefits included, pool all tips to donate, and the company then matches every penny. Winner, winner, everyone gets dinner - with beneficiaries including the Arlington Food Bank, Arlington Rotary Club and Arlington Resource Center.

VIBE

There are two popular schools of thought when it comes to doing business: Sell as many cheap products as you can and rake in the most profits, or create an atmosphere that embodies love and compassion and make less money - but feel immensely better in life. Well, the latter is modus operandi for these good-doers. They institute the mantra that a place of business can reflect your comfort zone, which is your home. And this feeling is attained through connection and meaning between all parties involved, whether it’s customers, staff or vendors, everyone is treated with the same level of respect.

TASTY SUGGESTIONS

These folks are all about community, which is deeply reflected in the products they carry. You can get premium flower from local faves Fireline and Green Rush. The best concentrates in the state are arguably from Arlington’s Dank Czar, with selections of rosin, bubble hash, caviar and the highest quality joints around. If cartridges are your thing, look no further because the great Avitas is in full stock, as well as Buddies and Dabulous. Other notable companies include OMG Sykes and Red Frog. As for edibles, be sure to ask for local boys Nasty Jacks. And if you’re hankering for a good old quench of the thirst, reach for a bottle of Ray’s Lemonades or Loaded Soda.

THE PEOPLE AND THE SPECIALS

You want to go where everybody knows your name - and where it’s always 4:20 by the look of the numerous wall clocks. And the way this is possible here at Cascade Kropz is by the fact that there is almost no turnover in budtenders. Here you’ll find the same good-natured person who was there a year ago emanating the positive attraction in abundance. I mean, how can you not put your faith in a budtender named Terran, who also goes by Mother Earth? Meanwhile, Lo creates the art and styles the boards and stuff, with the happy nature of a new mother. Ben and Darren are both musicians on the side, spinning wheels of steel and playing the didgeridoo, respectively. These guys dish out the goodies, too. You’ll always find $15 eighths, tons of $10 infused joints, $2 edibles, $15 100ml drinks, $30 full gram vape carts and $15 dabs. Their belief is in good faith says co-owner Jim Hart. “We just offer the best deal for every person who enters every day we are open.”

GET YOUR GLASS

Hey, there’s a glass shop next door, too - featuring local glass blowers like Conjoiner Glass, BJ’s Glass, Matt Healy, as well as Richard and Katy’s Glass. And they are also very proud of local boy done good, Weapons of Glass Destruction, whom they also support. You can pick up anything you need in there like torches, incense, dab tools and of course your latest edition of Northwest Leaf magazine. Lastly, don’t forget to grab your HUGZ and NUGZ t-shirt!
